My favorites song are actually two...Megitsune and Syncopation...my favorite live performance is the whole MetRock 2015...it doesn't get better than that.
The best Metal song ever about a martial art. And friendship, standing up for oneself and being there for each other. The live at Download version is worth seeing.
The heavy sound, the cute chorus by Yui & Moa, Su-'s powerful vocal, and the depth of the song's concept, it's a song like a roller coaster for me. Thank you from Japan.
Nice! I do love this MV as it portrays this song in a complete different light for me. While lyrics speaks about finding the courage to fight on even if you are knocked down, the MV shows the actual thing they are fighting (3 white ghosts) are actually versions of the girls themselves (inner demons?). That makes this song so much more epic! 🤘🦊🤘🦊
Karate (Babymetal song):- "Karate" is a song by the Japanese 🇯🇵 heavy metal band Babymetal from their second studio album, Metal Resistance. "Karate" also features djent-like riffs and a J-pop melody. Loudwire's Graham Hartmann described the song as "incredibly charming. Instrumentally, it’s also heavy as hell. The song’s main riff is way low on the sonic spectrum, chugging away in a no-nonsense djent fashion." “Karate” took home the trophy for Best Metal Song @ the 2016 Annual Loudwire Music Awards. Karate explained that the lyrics are about never giving up and always moving forward, no matter what difficulties need to be endured. Furthermore, Karate choreographed described how the dance moves were made to help express the message of the song, as most of the lyrics were in Japanese 🇯🇵. "Karate" •Single by: Babymetal. •Album: Metal Resistance. •Language: Japanese. •Released: February 26, 2016. •Genre: J-pop, nu metal, metalcore. •Length: 4:23. •Label:RAL, Sony Music. •Songwriter: Yuyoyuppe. •Producer: Kobametal. •Yuyoyuppe: (arrangement) Babymetal singles chronology:- •"Gimme Chocolate!!" (2015). •"Karate"(2016). •"Distortion" (2018). Background and release:- According to Suzuka Nakamoto, "Karate" is reminiscent of the song "Megitsune", which "is popular among international fans. [The song] has not only Babymetal vibes, but also has Japanese elements. Its lyrics portray a strong will to go on, no matter what happens in your life." The song is a nu metal song that contains elements of metalcore. Composed by Yuyoyuppe and arranged under the name Yuppemetal, "Karate" also features djent-like riffs, and a J-pop melody. Loudwire's Graham Hartmann described the song as "incredibly charming. Instrumentally, it’s also heavy as hell. The song’s main riff is way low on the sonic spectrum, chugging away in a no-nonsense djent fashion." Kikuchi explained that the lyrics are about never giving up and always moving forward, no matter what difficulties need to be endured. Furthermore, Yui Mizuno described how the dance moves were made to help express the message of the song, as most of the lyrics were in Japanese. Reception:- "Karate" received generally positive reviews from music critics. Lars Gotrich of NPR Music described the song as "catchy and grandiose" praising Nakamoto's vocal performance, comparing her to Evanescence lead vocalist Amy Lee. Jon Hadusek from Consequence of Sound called the song, as well as "From Dusk Till Dawn" essential tracks from the album. While reviewing Metal Resistance, Jordan Bassett of NME praised the song, describing it as "fast and furious until jangling, arpeggiated guitar alters the rhythm." Hartmann praised the song's chorus, calling it "one of the catchiest pieces [Babymetal] has crafted to date." "Karate" peaked at number two on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart on the issue dated March 19, 2016, spending fourteen weeks on the chart. The song debuted at number 24 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, for the week of March 12, 2016. The song had its first televised performance at TV Asahi's Music Station on April 22, 2016. The song's choreography contained interpolations of karate moves, as shown in the music video. BABYMETAL WIN FIVE HONORS IN THE 6TH ANNUAL LOUDWIRE MUSIC AWARDS:- Japanese pop-metal sensation Babymetal are one of the 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards’ biggest winners, as their fans voted them to victory in five separate categories. The teen trio and their phenomenal backing musicians have rocketed to the top of the metal world, and in many ways, the worlMd of music. Babymetal’s rabid fanbase filled the Tokyo Dome two nights in a row, so it’s no surprise the band won the Most Devoted Fans award for the second year in a row, this time edging out fellow Japanese act X Japan. Babymetal’s Metal Resistance album proved the group wouldn’t go out as a one hit wonder. It kicks in hard with “Road of Resistance” and keeps moving with anthemic cuts that are criminally catchy. Metal Resistance won Best Metal Album in our latest awards, while “Karate” took home the trophy for Best Metal Song. 2016 was Babymetal’s year for touring, playing Wembley early in the year, appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, taking over North America, playing the Tokyo Dome and finally supporting Red Hot Chili Peppers in the UK. For Babymetal’s accomplishments, they’ve been voted Best Live Act. Finally, frontwoman Su-metal claimed victory in our Rock Goddess of the Year category, beating out beloved singers like Amy Lee and Cristina Scabbia. Karate Romaji Lyrics - Seiya sessesse seiya. The video has the original 3 girls in it. Yui, on the left (or stage right) left for medical reasons. Su and Moa continued touring, having rotation of different girls filling Yui’s place. Momo is now the permanent 1/3 of BABYMETAL.
Great reaction ... yes they are a live performance act first and foremost and Su-metal's live vocals are so much better than the compressed and over-produced studio recordings, but the official videos are all worth seeing - this one is particularly good. I can't remember exactly what you were told after you watched the live performance, so at the risk of repeating stuff you already now - The video shows very well what the song is about through the visuals as well. The figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that). They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible. Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time ... and of course she didn't kill it, Moa is known as the Angel of Love for a reason and she wouldn't hurt a fly. This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards".
Great reaction! That opening riff though, it absolutely smashes you in the face... so heavy. Completely love everything about this song... especially its message and meaning. Keep it up, my friend! Thoroughly enjoying your BABYMETAL journey and reactions. Thank you for the reaction. 🦊 🤘🔥🖤
Good one, thanks! This is considered one of their best music videos (if not the best). It's so good that it explains the song's meaning (I guess that was the point for the suggestion). I prefer to listen to the studio version first so, if you plan to check both the live and the studio versions, that would be the way to go. 😁 Until next time! 🤘🦊
Yea man, this song kicks hard in every version, either MV or live, btw if you like syncopated rhythm well that's a trademark of YuppeMetal who composed this song you can also notice in Rondo Of Nightmare and more recently Monochrome and Believing but BM got another song called Syncopation so go ahead and try the live version before 2017, after that you'll get the avengers filling the third spot instead of YuiMetal. See you next time 🦊🤘🥋
May I suggest you react to Kagerou live with Kami band intro. So heavy and melodic. Probably my favorite song of theirs. I guarantee you will love it as well.
My favorites song are actually two...Megitsune and Syncopation...my favorite live performance is the whole MetRock 2015...it doesn't get better than that.
Love Megitsune 🙌🙌
