I’ve owned this watch for about a year and a half and it’s one of my most worn of my collection. I have three of their watches and all are great value.
The WaveMaster is an amazing value. When I got mine ( Feb. ) they were only $230, but it has everything you look for in an affordable diver ( sapphire crystal, solid end links, ceramic lumed bezel ). The bracelet feels like a Strapcode, which I was not expecting at this price. This was my second microbrand purchase, and while I love my Samurai, it is hard to justify the extra money for a Seiko, when you still aren't getting a sapphire crystal.
Purchased one for my son. Way better value than Seiko. I'm going off Seiko as a brand, because they are now just rippingthe consumer off. Hence sold all my Seikos but will keep the Jade Monster.
Hi Rob Have mine now for 18 months. In my view has to be one of the best buys pound for pound. Seiko movement keeps excellent time and really well built. Cheers Dave UK
Phoibos is my favorit option for beaters. I own three and quartz or automatic, japanese or swiss movements they are very durable ( my oldests is two years old). Their new models also provide own designes.... Green, black or blue. I do recomend their watches not only for products, but for service. Best Dayly beaters I ever had...
Sapphire crystal, milled clasp, ceramic bezel, bgw9 lume, 316L stainless steel case, nh35 seiko movement, nice steel bracelet and a screw pins, lumed bezel, it just checked all I want on a watch. Nice review though! I was moving towards Orient kamasu, but this watch gives more value to your hard earned money.
Hi fro Qatar Rob. This to me is just again proof that brands like our favorite Seiko has just become too expensive. Look at what this Phoibos company offers for the price. Seiko will always be my favorite but really, where is the prices going to???
It's a shame too because Seiko quality control is terrible, and you pay more for their product than a Chinese brand that uses their movement! My Samurai msrp is like $600 US, and it's hands are misaligned and the hour hand has a mark on it. My Phoibos was $299 and it's flawless. AND with a high beat movement.
I really like the designs of Phoibos, But man, I can not get over the octopus on the dial. If they leave the octopus on the case back and put a text logo on the dial, I would be buying multiple Phoibos watches.
Great vid. Been hesitant on purchasing this watch because I like wearing original bracelets and this one doesn’t taper. Other than that, I think it’s a nice looking watch.
See.. I love Seiko, but the prices are getting way out! This is a hell of a watch build with Seiko movement.. Why would you buy a Seiko?! I can't stand that its Chinese made.. There is that
Hay man where can someone get one of those figurines you got on the desk?? I’ve been looking for awhile. Also been really enjoying all your vids man! Keep up the great content!!!
I have a quartz Phoibos but never wear it anymore and had been considering picking one of these up as I don’t have an engineer bracelet anywhere in my lineup but that backplay in the bezel is almost more annoying that Seiko’s misaligned chapter rings so I think you talked me out of it. I’ve also kinda decided if I can’t see the movement then it’s an easy way to DQ an automatic I might be irrationally lusting after so that’s strike two...
If you really like it you could go hunting for a V1. The round indices are a bit smaller on the first version and the bezel doesn't have that backplay as the newer model has but otherwise they're identical.
Bought one, had it for 2 weeks and then gave it to my 16 year old nephew, so he had an automatic watch. Issues, misalignment, bad and uneven lume, bezel issues, horrible customer service, so bad so I gave up, basically hated it. And I think I am one of the few watch enthusiasts who hates the octopus on the dial. It looks cartoonish.
It is great that it is their own design and great specs, (much better than the SKX for the same $$.) However the design trends toward cartoonish. I do like the concept of their Great Wall watch, but way to cartoonish looking, but good specs.
Not a dive watch. By the way they have to have different hands so they can't get mixed up Bezel should be one way. Still it's a desk watch and nice watch especially for the money
I’ve owned this watch for about a year and a half and it’s one of my most worn of my collection. I have three of their watches and all are great value.
do you have the Abalone? I think I want that one more than this one.
After I mod my SKX I’m at double this price with the same specs. Well done Phoibos

Along with Orient, Phoibos is my other favorite value driven watch brand that also has pretty great quality pieces.
Excellent review !
I have to agree, for what this watch offers in quality and options is a very good deal for its cost

Currently wearing my phoibos py007. I've had it for 2 years, worn it in the ocean quite a bit. I think they produce a solid watch.
I wish they had an option for an open case back considering it's actually a mechanical movement.
Yes, it has a sapphire crystal ... says so right on the case back.
Thanks for reviewing this watch. It looks like you get quite a bit of watch for the money.
Hey, have 3 of their watches and they are GREAT. Lume is amazing. One finds it’s way on my wrist every week.
Received mine today bezel spot on no back play.
Great review Rob. I love the lumed bezel...Phoibos and Tisell are really making interesting watches in the $200-$300 range :)
Nice watch an bracelet! :)
I own this watch, it is a great value and I am very happy with it.
Was considering that one...maybe next one. I agree, for that money you do get a lot.
by the looks of this watch it makes one wonder if with more pricey watches you are just paying for a name?
Yes, you pay for advertising basically.
motaz1975 Ya think?
@@MPD90 i dont know if thats sarcasm or not but i was being honest with my thoughts.

@@MPD90 and the reason you would is the reason you pay more and get less. It is the myth that a recognizable "Brand" has value

I hope Phoibos guys are reading your comment. I totally agree.
They use to do that and people complained about the boring logo .you can't win
I completely agree. It literally makes it look like a kids watch. Shame as the watch is stunning
I actually think the logo is one of the coolest things about this brand
I just wish it had lume 🐙
Great vid. Been hesitant on purchasing this watch because I like wearing original bracelets and this one doesn’t taper. Other than that, I think it’s a nice looking watch.
i like it a lot te octopus looks like a alíen ..and..ando lot quality....nice video buddy..HI from..México
Good review! Thank you
Lookin Good!
Unreal Randy, Nice Review.
Have a Reefmaster, Excellent quality.
I’ve got the blue model on a mesh bracelet 👍 very nice watch.
I'm not a fan of the bracelet but the watch is really sweet.
It reminds me of Deep Blue dive watches!
Had one of these exact ones in my cart for awhile now after seeing it here I may just get it
Hope you did, sold out now
Wow at that lume
Mum always told me if I have nothing nice to say don't say anything... Guess I'll say nothing then 😂
Lol.
This is a gorgeous watch. I think you would just get used to the big octopus on the dial.
(though that is TOTALLY weird...and kind of "off-putting")
I think I would/will pick one up if the keep the prices sensible...
See.. I love Seiko, but the prices are getting way out! This is a hell of a watch build with Seiko movement.. Why would you buy a Seiko?! I can't stand that its Chinese made.. There is that
Man I wish there was a different bracelet option
Hay man where can someone get one of those figurines you got on the desk?? I’ve been looking for awhile. Also been really enjoying all your vids man! Keep up the great content!!!
eBay. Takes little bit of keyboard work, but they are out there.

Yes I have both and your spot on
What's the better value? The Wavemaster at this price, or a Certina DS-4 at $250?
Idk
Does make one wonder why anyone would buy a crappy Seiko with its terrible QC at double the price with hardlex and a similar movement.
The guy in this post roasts Seiko www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/819mhn/discussion_seiko_has_completely_downgraded_their/
I personally still prefer Seiko over these. But I understand why people would buy these.
Stop calling "beater watch" any watch over a $100 dlls and I'm being generous 🤣
I wish I saved my money on this piece. QC and aftersales were rubbish.
Marinus Antonius please elaborate
you are like 2 years late to the party...

I want to like it, but I can’t get over that horrible logo. It looks like a kids watch.
Jared Wagner couldn’t agree more. Everything else looks great and the specs are awesome for thr price, but that logo..

I like it. It is unpretentious

It s a dive watch : 300m.
