    Watching your adventures has made us very interested in the base camp, we have a motorhome which we love but sometimes it’s difficult to explore where a car would come in handy. We love Scotland, tour every year so was good to see the places you went to where we also have been and hope you get to do more in the coming years, Scotland is addictive 🤣 thanks for sharing your adventures

      We have experience with both Camper vans and motorhomes so that is exactly why we bought a Base Camp. Motorhomes are far more easy than a caravan but you can be stuck on the campsite particularly in rural areas. The benefit then of course if you have your car. The compromise though is a caravan is a lot more work to set up and pack away. The Base Camp is a very comfortable and practical space and was affordable for us.

    Great video. I bought a basecamp a week ago and I have found build quality appalling. Back door cant be locked from inside without someone pushing hard on outside. "Laminate" edges peeling off. Thin flimsy tape. Door is hung out of square and shut lines taper from 4mm to nothing. Bed wont retract. Shoddy.

    • @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
      @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales  2 роки тому

      There are complaints on quality albeit not isolated to Basecamps. There might be a couple of issues you have which could be user related. The closing of the habitation door is standard. It does need a solid rather hard pull from the inside. The bed retracting is an interesting one. Should be an easy fix on the warranty but it can get stuck if the bed isn’t properly aligned when pushing it back. That said, have you joined the Basecamp owners group on Facebook? This is very active group and there could be some solutions found there:-

    Your videos are excellent and have been very helpful as we consider buying a Basecamp 2 - thank you. Would you say the Basecamp 2 is relatively easy to move around without a motor mover?

    • @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
      @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales  11 місяців тому

      A motor mover is absolutely essential. If the ground is at a slight incline or the grass is long or soggy or your on deep gravel you can not move the caravan by hand for life or money. I wouldn’t leave home with out our mover.

    Fort William...Thats about the closest space pitching i have ever seen for caravans on a site. I wonder if it really meets fire regulation spacing. Talk about trying to get as much cash per grassed area LOL. I just would not like others staring in your caravan
    windows like that.

    • @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
      @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales  2 роки тому +1

      I didn’t like the pitch it has to be said. More of a Motorhome pitch. Wish we had swapped it but after an 8 hour drive i couldn’t face the hassle.

    Interested to know how much difference towing makes to your MPG? Looking for a Basecamp2 too which we can tour across Europe and take skiing in winter! However having some issues finding a tower to fit to a Peugeot 308 GT 2l diesel.. Bumper issues.. Any clues / suggestions welcome!

    • @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
      @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales  2 роки тому

      No probs. My car does an average of 48.5mpg. If I tow at no faster than an average of 55mph I tend to get around 36mpg sometimes higher sometimes lower all depending on the roads and weather conditions. For your tow ball, best ask the professionals at your local trailer centre. I’ve got the Westfalia detachable with 13 pin electrics. Was £700 fitted.
