I went to Kennedy High School from 2003-2007, but they let me stay an extra couple of years up until June of 2009 because I was held back in preschool once. :)
@@someguy9778 Long story. At the time in 1992-1993 school year when I was in Preschool at Eyler Elementary school in Carleton, MI I started early at 3 years old and the reason why I got held back in preschool is because at the time I was not ready to be in kindergarten yet. :)
Whoa dude, your pretty brazin. Glad you weren't caught. Thanks for a 1 last look inside of my old High School. Class of 98. Yep gym looked pretty bare but same as I remembered it from 94-98. I'm surprised they left the water in the pool. Bet it collected of mosquitoes. That water didn't look too clean. Had gym class & had pool swimming class. Atleast when I swim in it 97 or 98 it was alot cleaner water. 😀 my locker although I don't remember what number it was on that second side over there by where you were at one point. Cause I remember my last yr it was, when come in from main entry, I'd go right & then left, then I believe mine was somewhere in that middle set you were near after the door to that room. Best I can remember from 98 anyway. Anyway it was cool getting to see it one last time. There supposed to be building a whole new Taylor High school in its place one of these days. We'll see how that one turns out. I often wonder if they gave that board to Steve Avery.
I have joined one of the fb pages for Taylor,mi. According to some of them, they could of saved JFK. The pool needed to be fixed, also the boilers needed to be fixed and it was shared with Brake Jr. High school. They could of built handicap ramps for the disabled and maybe elevators. The former mayor of Taylor should never had changed Truman to Taylor high. And never had changed the fighting song and the colors. He should have left it alone,to keep as is. Because it looks like crap.
My older sister graduated from this school and I’ve always wondered what it looked like from the inside good to take a look at it before it got demolished.
@robertmailhos8159 On the video that was in the abandoned highschool in Bridgeport they said a lot of places have weird regulations that say the school district can't donate or sell the books and equipment. I don't know why, but there's a lot of dumb rules so I can believe it.
My daughter went there. She finished her sophomore year there, and had to go somewhere else. Ms. Rush was my daughter's counselor. And yes, the cops WILL show up.
Dude - great explore, as usual. Love the channel. You've got balls of steel. If I heard those alarms, my butt would be trucking it back to my car as fast as possible. I can see why the school is free from vandals and scrappers. Keep up the great work!
12:17 what a instant memory! I remember that view like it was yesterday. But I haven’t been in JFK since 1992. Absolutely crazy, I haven’t thought about high school in a very long time 21:31 some of my happiest times were walking out of the cafeteria, outside to smoke cigarettes at the end of the building by the gym doors. All of the students would act as lookouts for the principal. If he walked outside people would yell “Hello Mr. Kolka” or simply call out “Kolka”
3:34 that red panel is a vintage fire alarm control panel that is probably original to the building (mid 60s?) and most likely is all relay controled,no computers needed, and if powered most likely still works
That's funny how you said you joined the *alumni,* the *alumni* were probably looking at you going who the f*** are you? I don't remember you being a student. Lol. Nice explore though.
Not everyone in every class knows eachother, keep in mind there were like 60+ classes over the history of the school. Now, a lot of the same people do attend these sorts of events so a lot do know even through the classes but it would be easy to go unnoticed I think especially for an event like this where it’s a final goodbye so plenty of people who wouldn’t usually attend would go.
I wonder if the fire alarm system was salvaged before the building was demolished, since the hardware was original to the building (the control panel is at 3:34) I know a guy from the rubber city who salvages pre-1975 fire alarm systems from building slated for demolition (he's active on UA-cam under the channel Old School Fire Alarms).
@@abandonedcentral Imagine that the police came right as you were exploring that school. Do you think they would've arrested you for trespassing on the property?
I've commented on another video, so I will repeat myself... It is amazing what gets left behind!! I would pay a stupid amount of money to get my hands on some the old rubber soccer balls, that are left behind at some of these abandoned schools, especially middle schools, High schools, and Colleges. Many of the sports balls are left behind, because they are so badly worn, flat, and old. I would love to get my hands on specifically those old, rubber soccer balls, that are badly beat up and very worn. I could only imagine the goldmines of vintage sports balls - including old rubber soccer balls, that could be found at these locations, not only in North America, but throughout abandoned schools Europe as well. The reason I want these old rubber soccer balls is because they are so worn, no two are alike. Some are so beat up from being used in hundreds of soccer games year after year, they just have a distinct character onto them, from boot marks and divots to scuffs and scratches. As a "used" soccer ball collector, the older the ball and the more it was used (in games), the more I want it, and frankly, the more it can be worth!! If you happen to work and a school as a PE teacher or athletic director, maybe you might have a few old rubber soccer balls that I'd be interested in. I hear schools hold onto old/vintage stuff for quite some time.
I'm JFK class of 91, wild seeing this place again so surreal. I was runnin with the stoners back then, smokin weed and cigarettes on the side of the building past the blacktop with lookouts for mr. Kolka. Never got caught. My first acid trip was on a school day walkin down the halls between classes meeting up with the boys who were also trippin and busting out laughing. But we were cool with the jocks and preppies too because we sold them the weed and lit up their house parties.

I'm surprised that they didn't clean out the desks and lockers the lockers could have been sold
Yup, unbelievably wasteful.
Usually they sell a lot of that stuff. Not sure why they didn't with this location.
What about the books 📚 ? I know a lot of them are out dated but some of us go to the library to find more simpler textbooks etc 📚

The alarm gives me a eerie vibe and why is it so loud
alarms typically this loud are deterrents, they aren't usually linked to direct police lines or anything
Oh they for sure responded to them the first time I set them off.

Not very strange! Obviously, they want to keep the vandals, out!
They gotta make sure nobody breaks in and steals anything before they tear it down, I guess.

Do you know what was with the sand in the pool area?
No clue about the sand tbh. Thanks for watching!
My theory is they used a sand filtration system.
