  • With the release of the new Freewing F-16 90mm 6 and 8s, there are more questions than answers in terms of how this new feature packed, but heavy entry to the Viper line up will perform. Well today, we shed some light on real world thrust numbers from both Freewing stock, modified, AND aftermarket 90mm fan/motor setups. In addition, we tested and older, much larger motor used in the dated Freewing Super Scale Yak-130 90mm to give enthusiasts frame of reference as to how for EDF technology has advanced in ten years. Enjoy the long format and drop your experiences and thoughts in the comments!

    Thanks for doing this comparison! The best one out I’ve seen 👍🏽. I have yet to assemble my 8s F-16V2. Now I think I’m going to have to make it a priority. I’m wondering if those type of spring loaded cheater holes improve bottom end performance or battery life?

      @@Hype_RC We believe that those cheaters increase that on-demand rush of air needed when you slap the throttle hard. To me it feels more responsive on the left stick than my V1

      @@Chuck_theModfather nice ! That’s what someone else said who put them on the v3 70mm f-16. More responsive. I know it’s a pain but, Keep posting. You’re doing what all of us really want to see. Not some nonsense advertisement for a few bucks! 🙏🏾

    Hands down for me the sound of the factory V2 6S beats the other F16 90mm jets.

      I have three Nerf whistles in my jet that’s why it sounds the way it does compared to the others in the video. They also could be the reason why it only made 6.1 pounds they do impede the flow ever so slightly.

    Nice comparison you know my experiences with cheaters they definitely help with thrust not so much top speed

    Nice tests! From a fit and finish standpoint would you recommend the v2?

      @kmarshall100 if youre speaking generally, absolutely. This is freewing's finest model to date, in my opinion. from a flight characteristics standpoint though, im actually a fan of the J-10.

      Ah gotcha. I haven’t tried the J10. I appreciate the feedback! Yall have a nice RC group there!

    Im trying to decide between F16 V2 6S or 8S. Do you think 8S is worth the weight difference ? ....6S always seems harder on batteries too

      @tonyp2263 This is literally the ONLY jet that i have actually considered keeping an 8s system in. It manages the weight well amd the flight times are great. I can cruise it around at 50-60% throttle with ease and it has gobbs of punch put power. You do have to commit to more battery packs though.

    Nice idea LoL. Can you do this test with more FW jets that you own? Would be interested in Eurofighter and F22. This is basically a test how good the ducting has been designed by FW engineers 👌

      @xXRapToRiXxGamer Thats in the works. I have a eurofighter, J-10, A-10 with twin 90s, and a mig-29

      I have the Eurofighter on 6s 36mm motor. It definitely needs an upgrade!

      @stevec7596 The Eurofighter is sneaky fast. it doesn't seem like its doing much until you catch a full throttle rip off a down line passed your face. I did the 9 blade mod on mine and touched 124mph.

      @@Chuck_theModfatherWow, didn't realize it was that fast. I put a bigger motor in my F-18 and it really pumped up the vertical while still flying a long time. I'm planning to do the same for the Euro as soon as I have the spare $$$

      I've done thrust and amp test on the J10 8s and Eurofighter 8s and 9s. J10 has 4.25kg of thrust at only 117A. That's 250g more and 13A less than the F16 8s. Eurofighter on 9s is 4.6kg at only 122A. That's the sweet spot on that jet. 8s was only 3.45kg.
