  • Here is my arrangement/performance of this beautiful/melancholy piece from movie Murder on the Orient Express, the original piece is written by Patrick Doyle. I went to watch this movie in the theater about 4 years ago, I was touched by the piece but I couldn't play the piano at that time. I ended up learning piano because of this piece. I am glad I could share my own arrangement of this song with you 4 years later. Hope you enjoy the song as much as I do!

My Dear, Colonel Armstrong finally, I can answer your letter at least with the thoughts in my head and the feeling in my heart that somewhere, you can hear me. I have now discovered the truth of the case, and it is profoundly disturbing. I have seen the fracture of the human soul. So many broken lives, so much pain and anger, giving way to the poison of deep grief, until one crime became many. I have always wanted to believe that man is rational and civilized. My very existence depends upon this hope, upon order and method and the little gray cells. But now, perhaps, I am asked to listen, instead to my heart."

Patrick Doyle's melody captures this subtle moment perfectly.

That text is beautiful...best part of the movie with that gorgeous score in the background...are those words textually extracted from the novel or it's just for the movie?

Thank you so much for listening, Angela. Patrick Doyle is an amazing composer, I really like his musical style and have done arrangements on serveral of his compositions for Harry Potter movie series. He is becoming one my of favorite musicians.

I have no idea why, but this reminds me so much of "Passacaglia". I confused them once.
