  • An evening out in Istanbul included visiting a bunch of delicious spots. I started out by cruising down in the center and seeing a live band play on the streets and then headed over to a local spot to test out the pide - like a Turkish pizza. After. I wandered further down the street and was able to locate a Turkish delight shop and tried some amazing treats.

    09:13 Yes. Simit, those delicious, round twisted bread. That's what I was talking about. Should have tried those instead of that bread. Only in Turkey would you get to eat simit. Its ok because we usually buy simits from bread shops since they are alot fresher than from street vendors.

    I have been to Istanbul twice and as much as I liked the city I unfortunately didn't have a great experience with Istanbuli people. I don't want to say they were rude but very close. Even watching your videos in the last few days, you can sense some coldness in some of the people you met. The guy at the Pide place that was taken the money at the end and also took the tip out of your hand in a rough way without even saying thank you or smiling..In fact I remember a juice vendor almost came to hit me when I asked him to at least smile because the whole time while I was buying from him he was frowning as if he was angry I was there. I understand they are fed up with so many Syrian immigrants taken their place of work but this doesn't give them the excuse to be rude and unfriendly or angry at Tourists..The ones that were friendly ended up being Syrians like for example Mohammad in the Turkish delight store ( I heard him telling his helper bring the big knife, i.e. Ax) or that guy from who you bough Fouad's gift who offered you the juice in your video yesterday. I know other people who confirmed my impression and had similar experience but I'm sure this not all Turkish or Istanbulis are like this.

      I'm pretty sure Muhammad was Turkish, from the way he moved and spoke Turkish, the bearded guy who appeared for a few seconds also was Turkish, the other 2 younger guys could be Syrian. Also Turkish people come in all shapes and colors. The Ottoman lands stretched from Eastern Europe to North Africa to Middle East to Sudan and Yemen. They mixed with all kind of different people throughout the centuries. Caucasian, Mediterranean, Middle Asian, Persian, Kurdish, Slavic Balkans, Arabs. If you traveled through Turkey you would know, but even Istanbul, probably 90% of people are from all over Turkey.

    The pide you ate is the 'kır pidesi' type. Its similar concept like Italians focaccia. It's like: you buy kır pidesi and tea(or ayran) and that's the breakfast. It's cheaper than regular pide but little more expensive than simit. That's how you choose between kır pidesi or simit or börek...you know ...BUT there are Lots of different kinds of pide. Like every city has its own different pide in Türkiye. Hard to explain.
    By the way you should really try different sorts of böreks. Eat su böreği. Don't miss.

    • @ArchiTechFit

      Difference is this one's called Kır pidesi. Almost same concept of Italian focaccia. But this one has generally 6 version. Cottage cheese, kaşar(cheddar-ish), minced meat-onion, spinach, potato-spicy, with sucuk(spicy-sausage let's say) etc.
      For example you're in a hurry and left home without breakfast. You buy kır pidesi (one with potatoes, another with meat) and you eat it on the go. Fast-food breakfast stuff. It tastes good but you dont go to a Kır Pidesi restaurant. You see the shop, buy it, eat it at tea o'clock, share it with others etc. You know we all drink 5691 glasses of tea per day. Not main dish i mean.

    As I watch your videos I realize that some of the people and more than you’d think are not Turkish but Syrian or from other parts of the Middle East. Istanbul is definitely crowed and over populated and In reality no one is really from Istanbul. The raw nature of your videos makes it so real without the glamour and the fake ass filters. But Istanbul and the rest of Turkey is so diverse and different that you’re only touching the tip of the ice berg. It’s like visiting NYC and hanging around Times Square only. What i wanted to say is youre paying more due to being in the tourist areas but I’m proud to say no one has ripped you off or taken advantage of you at least yet lol. So it seems they appreciate you visiting and want you to be pleased and leave with a good sense of what Istanbul, Turkey and it’s people represent. By the way those pides are even better right out of the overnight. He horizontal thing you saw and said you’ll get back to is tripe. It’s a specialty on turkey called kokrec. It’s frequented in the late night afters after drinking etc. Be well and be safe and continue with the great work

    • @ArchiTechFit
      @ArchiTechFit 2 роки тому

      Actually it's too sweet for everybody. That's how candies are. Dense sugar.
      But it has many different sorts of it. Some are not that mouth burning sweet. You should find the right kind of it for yourself. And of course it depends on the quality. Some shops are famous for good lokum. Some are just opportunist trader guys who use cheap ingredients. The more expensive, the better quality let's say...
      I love lokum(That's how we call it) with rose for example, but I don't eat it. Because super sweet for me and my health condition doesn't allow that. If i eat sugary things doctor punch my face or something.

    "Pide" far exceeds pizza bout couple tousands years it's variations been made since Summerians (4500 -1900 BC)
    Also Until Napeleon banish Turks from italy biggest minorities in italy were Turks specially in south places like Gaeta,Naples all the way down to sicily thats why Italian cousine influenced by it.

    Dude, it's pita. Just Turkish spelling pide and not ricotta cheese.. They have their own cheeses like something close to 193 types depending on the region. Peynir (similar to feta) and Kashar most likely what you had on the pide and the.pepperoni is called sucuk (ground meat (usually beef, lamb or horse), cumin, garlic, salt, red pepper) soon good.

    Italian influence??? Not with pride! The Italian pizza was probably influenced by the Turkish Lahmacun! At least that’s what a famous Neapolitan pizza maker told me.
