- Today is the start of a huge series as I travel back to Lebanon to make the latest series of Lebanon2.0. I was in Lebanon last summer and had such a wonderful time getting to know this country and the people that make up this special place. I am excited to be back to make a huge series and in today's video I share with you the trip from Istanbul Turkey to Beirut Lebanon where I get to see one of my best friend's Fouad and my girlfriend Mabelle at the airport. After they pick me up, we head over to Fouad's place to have an incredible Lebanese meal and catch up after not being there in such a long time. The reason why we say "Lébnén" in the Lebanese Arabic (and not "Loubnan") and why our Arabic is different from the classical one is because it is influenced by Aramaic and Syriac which were spoken in this region before. French and English came starting from the 19th Century. And now we type a lot of our online messages in Arabic using the Latin Alphabet, while our ancestors used Karshuni (writing Arabic in Syriac Alphabet). I guess us lebanese always wanted to keep our own Identity.

I don't think that's right.. Syrian accent is also influenced by Aramaic but we say Lebnan just like the official one
Lebanon's name is derived from the aramaic word for White, leban, lebnen is derived from the arabic name for lebanon lubnan, not everyone in lebanon pronounces it lebnen. Lubnen, lebnen, lebnan, lubnan are all correct.
Syrian and Lebanese Arabic is actually the closest to Classical Arabic so this comment isn’t correct 😅
