Fascinating to watch and the transparency of the soap is lovely. It's generous of you to provide an exact recipe to experiment with, especially in the two small batch sizes you used. Thank you so much! 💜💛💚💙💜💛💚💙
Thank you for sharing your recipe. I have created a few M&P recipe's but I could not figure out how to get a complete translucent M&P slightly but not completely translucent. I used 99 % rubbing alcohol and sugar water 2-1 because that was what I had on hand. My M&P turned out good following your recipe and it is translucent. I'm happy to have found your easy recipe and it only took 10 minutes to make. thank you!
My liquid pour looked white. I used methylated spirits that may be the issue. After 30 minutes of having poured, there developed a 5mm white frothy skin on the surface that I removed. The liquid under this skin was transparent. So I removed the white skin that I crushed into a ball and that still becomes frothy when I use it under water. You didn't supply a recipe so I used one from 101 soaping. I think there may have been toouch steric acid in the recipe. So next time, I'll reduce that and replace some of it with a tiny amount of castor. I'll keep you posted on results and I'll also include my recipe. Thanks for showing me this simple no fuss method.

@@soappycuppycakes Yes and no on the propylene glycol. Propylene glycol not only helps lower the melting point of the soap mixture, but it is also is a midler solvent. Hi! I loved your récipe! I live in Brazil and I'm having troubles to find sorbitol. I wonder if there is any other sweetener that replaces it keeping the transparent and clean aspect of the soap (other than the sugar that darkens a little) thank you! Thanks for sharing.
Many people use sugar without issue and without any discoloration, so if you absolutely can't find sorbitol, it is worth a shot. Otherwise, sorbitol will likely need to be purchased from an online supplier, such as a cosmetic supplier or bakery supplier. It is a very common MP ingredient and is included in almost every MP base made.

thank you for this recipe, I made it yesterday and leave it over a night to became solid It is Crystal and clear soap but I noticed that is an aggressive soap, after use you fill your hand very dry please how can we made it more mild and soft?
This recipe is designed to be an introduction to clear soap making and although it is a certainly a mild bar, it is not formulated to act as a soap that provides gentle and softening properties. You can reformulate the recipe according to your needs.
Could you add some glitter during the cooling process and swirl it around to give it a bit of a mystical glimmery effect inside? What kind of shimmery materials could I use to achieve this? Saludos!
This is exactly what I was looking for. I do have a question though and I hope you can respond, the brand LUSH only combine glycerine and sorbitol to the hot water and then add the oils and EOs. Will this also work? Thanks!
If you do not add the PG and alcohol, you will not get a clear soap or meltability. You would also need a much high glycerin content for meltability which can then lead to issues like glycerin dew. You can also add FO/EO at the end with the understanding that it may cause clouding. This recipe is written as a basic introductory recipe to transparent and melt and pour soap. If you are not familiar with the processes of soap science, saponification, and lye safety, we do not recommend you make this recipe without first doing some research. The Ultimate Guide to Hot Process Soap coursebook is the perfect place to start.
Thanks for this tutorial! Really beautiful outcome. Based on your experience do coconut oil and palm oil result in similar level of transparency in glycerin?
Palm oil is not going to produce the same level of transparency because it has a higher concentration of palmitic and stearic, as well as usually having some unsaponifiables. It will still produce a clear soap, but not at the level of a clean and processed stearic acid and coconut oil. -Eric @ UG2SOAP
Yes. The soap will still have a lower melting point than traditional soaps due to the other solvents; however, it will not be as transparent and it will not be as easily meltable. We recommend following the recipe as it was written, or adapting and reformulating to better suit your personal needs. -ERIC @ UG2SOAP
Thank you for the perfect result i got If i want to increase bubbles as far as i know can adding lauric or myristic acids could you advise what recipe can add or any other ideas .
The recipe as written will produce a very bubbly soap. If it is fresh soap, allow it to cure for 2-3 weeks and retest. And yes, lauric/myristic fatty acids will increase the lather.
Thank you for sharing the video .I have a doubt the sorbitol solution. You say add it to water and heat to get a clear solution .. is it sugar or sorbitol ?
Both will create a clear solution, as both sugar and sorbitol are soluble in water. As noted in the verbal instructions, sorbitol is used in this video. You can elect to use either option when creating this recipe! -Anthony @ UG2SOAP
I didn't have sorbitol or white sugar handy (only brown sugar). So I mixed 1 cup of water with 2 cups of powdered sugar (the very finely ground kind used for sugar icing) and it worked perfectly, except that the base came out opaque, not transparent, but it served my purposes already. which I myself added TD and colorant to work with the base.
Stearic acid and candellian wax are not the same compounds and although they may be used for comparable ingredients in other cosmetics, they cannot be interchanged for this recipe. The stearic acid reacts with the sodium hydroxide and saponifies to create sodium stearate, a hard, soluble soap. This allows us to create a transparent soap recipe with the addition of sovlents. You will need to use stearic or reformulate your recipe with other fats.
Hello! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe 💖 I have a question: I want to make this base without coconut oil like in store. How can I do it? Reply me please 🙏🏻🙏🏻
hello, i have tried making it and it works! thank you very much. but after awhile, my soap have some little tiny bumps. my grandmother said that its paraffin coming out. im not sure what is that, does that mean i failed making the soap although it was ok at first? or? thanks in advance
This recipe does not contain paraffin, thus the complication you are facing is not paraffin. Can you please better describe what you mean by "bumps"? With a little more information, we might be able to better problem solve with you. -Eric @ UG2SOAP
Hi, I would like to make a bigger batch, about 600 grams of oils. Should I just triple the recipe,or I need to make diferent calculations? Definitely will use the same oils.
This formula is safe for use on skin and is comprised of standard cosmetic and melt and pour ingredients. If you are looking specifically for a gentle formula for sensitive skin, consider altering or using a different formula intended for that specific use.
The recipe as written should only take between 6-12 hours to completely solidify the first time, and it will be a very hard bar. If it did not harden, there was an error in the formulating process, perhaps a mismeasured ingredient or a scale that needs to be recalibrated.
Milk can be used to replace the water in the lye solution, but note that there will be oxidation (carmelization/Maillard reaction) that will cause discoloration and a possible odor. It will likely result in a very golden/yellow or even a brown-tinted bar and reduce the transparency. If these are not your top priorities, then this is certainly an option! If you are seeking to formulate a milk MP base, maybe consider a different recipe. Just my two cents. -Eric @ UG2SOAP
You can obtain non-petroleum-based propylene glycol, often called "bio propylene glycol," which is plant-based or you can use other solvents like 1,3-propanediol, which is also plant-based. You can elect to use different concentrations of solvents as well. If you are looking for a "natural" transparent soap, you are going to have a more difficult time as clear/mp bases need solvents, which include PG, glycerin, sorbitol, alcohol, and more.
Thanks awesome video , but I have a question that I hope you answer Most soap makers use castor oil in transparent soap , why didn't you use it ? will it affect the transparency or colour ?
That is like asking "Why didn't you use olive oil in your cold process soap recipe?" This recipe is formulated to be very simple with two main fat sources and I wanted to use higher solvents for clarity. The addition of castor oil is optional, just like any other oil or fat. If you want to reformulate with castor oil you are more than welcome to! Hope that helps.
Yes, this can be used as a melt and pour base. Keep in mind that this formula is created to provide a simple, ultra-transparent recipe, and will not provide the same skin-loving benefits that standard melt and pour recipes do. You may want to revise and reformulate for your specific needs.
We wrote the recipe in the blog so that you could create any size recipe you want and provided two examples. Use the provided information to create a larger batch.
Hi again! So i did it today! My final result is a white bar. I used sugar instead of sorbitol...that could be my mistake Ashley? And can i use it for melt and pour ? Thanks a lot
Which solvent did you use? When you poured the bars, were they clear or liquid? Did you wait for saponification before starting the solvents? Even with sugar, they should still be transparent, just possibly a little more on the yellow side due to the heat. Have you tried remelting them down? And yes. You can use it as a MP base, although this specific recipe is intended to be an introductory recipe with high solvents for maximum clarity, so keep that in mind when it comes to your desired soap qualities and adapt the recipe as desired.
@@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP Thanks a lot...i used isopropyl 91% and i didn't wait for saponification ... I would do it again!thanks a lot for your time, video, and generosity in answering it.
@@gingerandtonic Oh no! You need saponification before adding the solvents. That could certainly be an explanation of the opaqueness. You can try melting it down and seeing if that helps with this batch. No matter what, so long as the product is skin-safe, you can use it as MP base or the soap per usual.

We graciously provided this recipe without cost and have included all of the information needed to recreate the recipe in the video and its details. Please use the tools and resources available to you and READ the directions that are provided. Thanks!
It absolutely can be used as a melt and pour base; however, it is designed to be an ultra-clear recipe and because of that, it has a high concentration of solvents which means it will take longer to solidify compared to your typical MP base. It is the perfect recipe and introduction to learning how to make HTHP bases and clear soap and can be used as the starting point for creating your own unique bases. And no, it does not need to cure for the standard 4-6 weeks, although some have reported the lather and mildness increase after several weeks.
Yes, you can elect to add colorant to your recipe. If seeking transparency, you can add liquid dyes, which work beautifully (images of this type of colorant with this formula are included on the website). Glitters also look really great. If you are going for an opaque aesthetic, I would recommend reformulating the recipe to include less solvents because we use higher solvents specifically for transparency and you could get away with using less.

It will likely result in a very golden/yellow or even a brown-tinted bar and reduce the transparency. If these are not your top priorities, then this is certainly an option! If you are seeking to formulate a milk MP base, maybe consider a different recipe. Just my two cents.

Hello good night, would you know to tell me the purpose of sorbitol and propylene glycol in the base.
in recipe in 2 place weite glycerin 1 in water and lye and 1 in last we should half glycerin?
can we use something natural in place of propylene glycol please.
Thanks awesome video , but I have a question that I hope you answer
Most soap makers use castor oil in transparent soap , why didn't you use it ? will it affect the transparency or colour ?
That is like asking "Why didn't you use olive oil in your cold process soap recipe?" This recipe is formulated to be very simple with two main fat sources and I wanted to use higher solvents for clarity. The addition of castor oil is optional, just like any other oil or fat. If you want to reformulate with castor oil you are more than welcome to! Hope that helps.
@@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP Thanks for your kind reply
Thank you so much! I will try to do it!! Thanks again
You know I don't make up I started making cold process. For my intricate designs and landscapes but I must say ight have to get into hot process.
Once you go hot process, it is SO hard to go back lol.... Try it out and let us know what you think!
can I use this soap base in melt and pour?
Yes, this can be used as a melt and pour base. Keep in mind that this formula is created to provide a simple, ultra-transparent recipe, and will not provide the same skin-loving benefits that standard melt and pour recipes do. You may want to revise and reformulate for your specific needs.
Great great recepie!!! How can I make it larger??
We wrote the recipe in the blog so that you could create any size recipe you want and provided two examples. Use the provided information to create a larger batch.
Love watching this.
Hi again! So i did it today! My final result is a white bar.
I used sugar instead of sorbitol...that could be my mistake Ashley? And can i use it for melt and pour ?
Thanks a lot
Thank you
Which solvent did you use?
Isabel That happened to me once, I just took small amounts of it and heated it up in the microwave. It turned out clear
Sorry but i cannot find the whole recipe in the link or description. Where do i find it? Thanks
The recipe is included as PDF/PNG image in the link that is provided in the video details. Please allow several seconds for it to load! When there is a lot of traffic on the page, it slows down a bit! If you have any other questions, please let us know!

I made it five days before but it still soft from back side.plz tell me what is the reason.thanks in advance
Is there a printout of this recipe as I’m struggling to hear the ingredients mentioned.
Hello,
If you follow the provided link, you can print out a copy of the shared PDF for the recipe.

How many days does it take to solidify ?!
The first time that it solidifies will take around 6-24 hours. After that, the remelting/hardening time is significantly reduced.
One question ist the amount of water for the NaOH ??thank 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Please see the recipe for more information about lye solutions and other recipe details!
Is this a hot process or cold process
Because high heat is used to accelerate the chemical reaction rate of saponification, we consider this a hot process methodology.
Are these ingredients healthy for skin ?
@DopaSuperNova aka The Badd Baker i wanna ask, can i just mix it using spoon and not mixer? ..
Hi thank you for transparent soap base making
Please send me clearly
What are using ingredients
And quantity
Thanks

We graciously provided this recipe without cost and have included all of the information needed to recreate the recipe in the video and its details. Please use the tools and resources available to you and READ the directions that are provided. Thanks!
this is Melt and pour base ?? do we need to leave it to cure for 4-6 weeks
Will I be able to add color to the recipe?
Yes, you can elect to add colorant to your recipe. If seeking transparency, you can add liquid dyes, which work beautifully (images of this type of colorant with this formula are included on the website). Glitters also look really great. If you are going for an opaque aesthetic, I would recommend reformulating the recipe to include less solvents because we use higher solvents specifically for transparency and you could get away with using less.
Please can liquid sorbitol be used. Thanks
Yes, as noted in the directions
