About a week ago I picked up one of the chambered mahogany HSS Strats in Translucent Cherry. I absolutely love it! The color is my new favorite from Fender. I actually didn't like the color when I ordered it online from the pictures, but I wanted the chambered mahogany version for my build. It's so much better looking in person (looks similar to the back of a Gibson Heritage Cherry LPS). I took out the stock pickguard and dropped in a Dimarzio loaded pickguard, added a Tusq nut, saddles and string tree and now I have my dream Super Strat at only 6lbs 4ozs!! It's fun jamming with my friend and seeing the sweat pour down his face under the pressure of his 9+ pound Gibson LPS! I can now do one-armed handstands with my Strat in the other hand! ...I made up that last part.
The best Fender Player II guitar is the Fender Player Series that will now sell for $499 on Reverb and the Classic Vibes for $300. It's a buyer's market for used gear.
I was on the fence for a couple of weeks before the news of these new ones, but this is why I have now decided to definitely keep my player Strat 😂. Mine is shell pink anyway and they don’t make that many of those.
Plays like who? Chet? Eric? Eddie? Yarzo Spatflute? Saw a new Strat in a light metallic green with a SMALL headstock, proportional to 70's large to regular preCBS size; played nicely. So?
So glad I snagged a shell pink Strat a few years ago, mine has a maple fretboard and came stock with a tortoise shell pickguard, she’s a beauty. I think it was a guitar center exclusive.
I've got a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Tele in that blonde color you like. Cost me $350. Modded it so that the only thing original is the neck, the body and the bridge (not the saddles though). That thing is perfect, and it's still cheaper than one of those new.
Rosewood is a welcome change. A lot of features trickle down from the equivalent usa models though. i am curious what will they offer in the next pro III or w.e to differentiate since rosewood/vintage look/rolled edges are also in the mexican models now.
I really like my fender player series 1st gen. Strat so much i wont replace it with the New player 2 series. Anytime soon i have rolled of the Frets on it by myself and have schaller locking tuners
For the colors, someone from Fender said they used the same color charts that they chose for example, Fiesta red from, and chose a color right near it. So similar but a little different.
I'm digging the return of the rosewood option and classic gear tuners. Not super thrilled about the colors. If I had to choose I'd go sunburst strat and blonde Tele. I wonder if they'll release a duo sonic?
I just logged onto the Fender Japan page, and quite frankly I'm more impressed with what their getting for 2024. That Hybrid II line looks right up my ally. Lot's of cool color's and bursts, why aren't we getting that in America?
My small local shop in Vancouver already has 19 various Player II models in stock where L&M won't get many of them till October, apparently. That Aquatone Blue is like an eggshell blue, a slightly deeper Daphne, not as dark as Lake Placid. I like pau ferro, it's a smooth fast fretboard, with a dense grain like ebony. I guess they dropped the Lead II and III, fun guitars but not too popular.
I personally like the Jazzmaster and Jaguar, but the Player II versions are missing the Rhythm Circuit on the Jazzmaster and the Jaguar and the three separate switches on the Jaguar... The rosewood boards and upgraded tuners are a good step, but the omission of the rhythm circuit and switches is a deal breaker - I would opt for the Vintera II. granted the Vintera II is approx. 30% more $$, but it's just a pipe dream for me... Great Vids! Keep up the good work
I have a Squier standard electric guitar how to record a while I want to change the piccard out and put on locking tuners do you know if Squire pick Gardens Adventure pit guards are the same size I know it's a lot of holes put the screws I was wondering if you knew what lock and keys woodwork on a square neck without having to drill it out the neck on the Square standard I have is a compound radius neck hated it when I first bought it but now I don't want to play any other guitars I'm going to love it so much
I've heard from some reviewers claim that the Player II series has different pickups but I cannot find anything from Fender that states that. If it was true it would not be hard to find the info and Fender would be shouting it out everywhere claiming it's the best pickups since sliced bread...
The strat has the same pickups. Only difference are rosewood, vintage tuners, rolled up neck edges and colours. Not much of an upgrade IMO. Great for new buyers though
@@LiesThatBind I bought a Player HSS strat back in 2020. It was the first guitar I had bought in 30 years and being a newb I wasn't very picky about the details. If I had it to do again I would not have accepted the guitar because of the fret work. I had to have the frets leveled and need to dress the fret ends. I do like the rest of the guitar though and will probably buy a replacement Player II neck when they become available. My next guitar does not need to be a Fender. I love the Sire T7 FM.
Personnally theres not enough difference on a strat player II to make people ditch their player I strat. A part from the rolled edges it's basically the same especially for those with a mapple fretboard.
I do not need any more guitars, but we all know how that goes. If this Jazzmaster had a rhythm circuit it would be an insta-buy for me, probably in sunburst. For a JM I may stick to my plan of the CME walnut Squier CV. From this series I think I want the birch green Tele. It looks retro in a "Nana's fridge from the 80's" way. I already have a Player 1 Tele, Strat, and Duo-Sonic along with my first guitar, an old 1992 MIM Strat.
I just got an e-mail for these. I already have an MIJ 60s Strat and an Oxblood Telecaster, so I'm not really in the market for either (and I mostly stick with shorter scales), but that Birch Green, Hialeah Yellow, and Coral Red are nice. Life's good if you're into Stratocasters or Telecasters. It's just too bad we still have to go to Fender Japan if we want any cool Mustangs, Jaguars (I know they have Player II Jaguars, but I don't want that goofy, simplified control switching), or Cyclones, though.
The 2 series is alright, and honestly the jazzmaster in green looks really nice. Nothing wrong with a striped down jazzmaster, It's a cheaper American Performer made in Mexico :D! The pick ups are the same from player 1, at least from the description on the fender website (Player 1 stuff is still there so...)
It's interesting what they did. I would say I am more inclined to purchase a Tele or strat next sweetwater run but I would find time to see more reviews on the new Player II Before anything
My first-ever guitar was a (southpaw) MIM Stratocaster, & unbeknownst to me, a friend of a friend who I'd occasionally jam with had gotten a Les Paul for Christmas. Well our first jam after Christmas, I walk in w/my MIM Srat & my amp, a 600-watt, 1970s Peavey LTD 400 w/the original 15-inch Black Widow speaker... He had his *Epiphone* Les Paul w/(somewhat) new Marshall half-stack, & the first thing he asks me is, "Is that a real Strat?" A 'real' Strat? Being the beginner I was, I didn't really know what he meant, & answered, "Yeah." I knew an 'American made' was much more expensive, but the headstock read 'Fender' & it wasn't a Squier, so I said yes. Well, here it is, literally decades later, a whole drug-addiction-&-getting-sober later, & I'm trying to get back into guitars & writing songs again, & I need an acoustic & an electric axe, cuz mine got ditched in my addiction... And now I know he asked me abt my MIM Strat cuz he had a Chinese-made Les Paul, & considering how the internet has changed the guitar market, I've heard the saying that the difference between a Player Series & a "real Stratocaster" is a 30 minute drive & the guy putting it together being named Jose as opposed to Joe. I kinda liked that! Hehehe... But here I am, shopping online for used electric guitars & I see that I can get a used Epiphone Les Paul for considerably cheaper than I can a used Strat! But I've NEVER played an Epiphone OR Gibson guitar (my acoustic was an Ibanez Performer that I switched the strings over on) in my entire life! So would I be better served to buy an Epiphone or a MIM or Player Series? And I'm asking because, in regards to my biggest influences as far as songwriting & playing goes, I'd have to say that - & I am IN NO WAY comparing myself to these legends(!) - but I'd have to say, "Kurt Cobain made want to play guitar, but Noel Gallagher made want to write my own songs & play lead guitar, but only sing one or two songs, myself. (Of course I don't have a kid brother who can sing & be a Lydon-meets-Lennon kinda frontman, but... 🫤) Noel Gallagher made me wanna be a rock n roll star! But now, as I've aged & went through sooo many different things... I've also discovered & been heavily influenced by mid-1960s Bob Dylan United Kingdom tour, & also by the utter genius of Brian Wilson circa Pet Sounds & the original tapes for SMiLE!, aka the greatest album there (n)ever was." So any suggestions from the community? I'm 42 yrs old & a lil closer to 43 vs 42 yrs old! And I have, IDK... maybe an album an EP's worth of songs that I'd love to get to record before I die, & I need a couple guitars to start with... Any & all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thnx.💯✌🏼

They made a 16 minute video just talking about regular guitar features like rolled frets, a bridge you don’t have to adjust every time you play, and cool car colors.
Snapped up one of the new Teles. Got the green one with rosewood board. Been waiting for something different and that color did it for me. I’ll probably change out the bridge and saddles but it should be a nice upgrade platform.
Nah, just bought my player 1 a month and a half ago for like $679.00 it was a great deal. I do like the vintage style locking tuners tho. I put a set of Gotohs on my HB telecaster. They’re great. But I bet they require the smaller type hole vs what’s on the player 1’s. It’s all pretty close shizzz on these. Not enough to get rid of a player 1.
Damn £799 or £899 My player tele was £550 new all black i had it set it up new control panel thats it My player strat limited edition has rosted maple fretboard custom pickups for £899 i won it
I don't think my player series strat or tele will be going any time soon. I heard a review of one of the new strats by Sean Daniels (I stress one review only), and those new pickups sounded bloody awful.
Pau ferro was boutique until they started to offer it on the MIMs. Maybe now it will go back to where it belongs, the custom shop, for people with bad taste like SRV.
The lefty options really suck. I wish Kurt Cobain never popularized the mustang cuz they don't ever give us it and I'd much rather mod one of these than screw up a rare MIJ one. We can't even get humbuckers in anything and all our finishes are boring
This is why I'm weirdly happy about being a southpaw. I never really experience the same kind of FOMO since, when I began, the only guitar in the entire tristate was a laminate Samick. I've got a small body Gibson acoustic now so my biggest "problem" is a 19 fret neck 😂.
Wonder how the player II tele fares against the hybrid II? Also I actually love the look of the strat in fiesta red. With those aged pickups too? Perfection.
This is why all of the Players have been on sale. They're trying to get back customers who's buying all the budget guitars. Edit: So, they basically stayed the same except for they've got new colors and a real rosewood board.
@@TheMcstevester Indeed. That is a wonderful appointment. I've got a Fiesta Red Player Plus with a mint pick guard. I got it on sale at Guitar Center for $900. They're originally over a grand I believe. It was in mint condition. Whoever owned it must've not had it long, because it was a previously owned model. It's got the rolled edges, locking tuners, 12" radius and the noiseless pickups. It plays beautifully! I wanted a Strat with the noiseless pickups, but unfortunately, I don't care for them. They're kinda lifeless and soulless. They've kinda got that Strat sound, but not quite. The humbucker in it is fairly decent. I want to put a Texas Special in the neck and middle, then put a Pearly Gates in the bridge.
Not digging most of the new colors. The supposed vintage colors aren't the standard vintage colors you'd expect like surf green, seafood green, sonic blue, shell pink, two tone sunburst, Daphne yellow, etc. That birch green looks like baby shit.
I should've heeded your warning yesterday of staying of UA-cam. On top of it Im releasing a video about Fesley LP, and Fender makes this huge announcement...Man I'm sure my video is going to do great today🤦♂
@@LumaTo This would be my first Fender, so I'm actually thinking about stepping up to a AM Perf Strat HSS or maybe even a Fender AV II 73 Strat. Gotta love that beefy headstock 😀
@@TheMack I went the same route with my Ultra Strat in 2021, and I honestly wish I went with the Player Plus series instead. My brother spent way less and got very close in quality. 🫠 These at least have rosewood as an option as opposed to Pau Ferro.
@@LumaTo That sounds reasonable. The Plus series might be a nice middle ground between quality and playability. I'm either going rosewood or maple so that might put the Plus out of contest...oh well, it's good to have options 😲
@@doku1684 I hope I came off as being facetious ? These guitar companies , post pandemic slumps, are adopting the Proctor and Gamble grocery store model. Declare the same product new and improved and invent every possible permutation you can to take up shelf space.
All this hype for rolled fretboard. New colors are fun though but the rosewood is grade C rosewood it looks like pau ferro on most guitars. Either way, its a winner from fender again. Or mexico. Their mexican factory be bringing the dough.
Hopefully the player ii are a lot better than the player. The classic vibes were better and half the price. The fretwork was just bad on the mim stuff from the last few years and the tuners felt bad like the classic vibes ones.

I’m considering selling my vintera ii jazzmaster and buying one of these player series ii guitar as with my vintera ii I don’t like how the fretboard is 7.25 radius makes it hard for bending

Aquatone Blue...Miami Blue? Birch Green I really like.
Pau ferro was boutique until they started to offer it on the MIMs. Maybe now it will go back to where it belongs, the custom shop, for people with bad taste like SRV.
Points for bringing back Rosewood but minus points for not calling it “Player Series: Electric Boogaloo”
These look class
It's the guitar, formerly known as... And quite honestly, I am unimpressed with the color options. I'd rather pay the extra and get the Vintera II.😢
The lefty options really suck. I wish Kurt Cobain never popularized the mustang cuz they don't ever give us it and I'd much rather mod one of these than screw up a rare MIJ one. We can't even get humbuckers in anything and all our finishes are boring
Price hike series II
Sorry but I'm not really excited about the color selection. Plenty of colors to choose from but none really speak to me. That's kind of a bummer.
This is why I'm weirdly happy about being a southpaw. I never really experience the same kind of FOMO since, when I began, the only guitar in the entire tristate was a laminate Samick.
I've got a small body Gibson acoustic now so my biggest "problem" is a 19 fret neck 😂.
I suffer the same dysfunction, lol. I feel spoiled when they offer a left handed version in some color other than black.
It's me, I would have liked a jazzmaster with humbuckers lol
I'm glad you are you! :)
So real for saying "Lefties get left out" I'm a leftie and I can barely find guitars let alone one that I like
Wonder how the player II tele fares against the hybrid II? Also I actually love the look of the strat in fiesta red. With those aged pickups too? Perfection.
900 bucks for a player Tele?! The cheapest Fender series?!! Shut the front door! The rolled fingerboards edges seem really cool tho lol
I like the Mary Kaye white.
This is why all of the Players have been on sale. They're trying to get back customers who's buying all the budget guitars.
Edit: So, they basically stayed the same except for they've got new colors and a real rosewood board.
And rolled fingerboards. That was the main reason I was gonna get a sire s7 so I'd say that's a smart upgrade
@@Krullmatic you forgot the aged white plastics… that look like SHIT
@@nickhall1115 That is one of the leading reasons that I'm keeping my og player strat
@@nickhall1115and decided against a player plus
My Player is in the bin. Damn you, Fender!!!
Not digging most of the new colors. The supposed vintage colors aren't the standard vintage colors you'd expect like surf green, seafood green, sonic blue, shell pink, two tone sunburst, Daphne yellow, etc. That birch green looks like baby shit.
If I had to pick one of those, it would be the Mustang all day.
the jazzmaster is literally calling my name
On the pronunciation of Hialeah it’s HI-uh-LEE -uh. It’s the name of a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
I should've heeded your warning yesterday of staying of UA-cam. On top of it Im releasing a video about Fesley LP, and Fender makes this huge announcement...Man I'm sure my video is going to do great today🤦♂
@@JosephX74 sorry for being a part of multiple communities, and enjoying other creators content
One day, I’ll start up my business and then there will be plenty of left handed guitars for us.
I’ll be there opening day bud.
Is it Godfather 2? Terminator 2? Shrek 2?
it's Empire Strikes Back hopefully!
Caddyshack 2
Pretty cool
Kinda cool! Glad I didn't by a Player I Strat last week! 😀
Depending on your price sensitivity, you could be even gladder that you got a Player I this week!
These at least have rosewood as an option as opposed to Pau Ferro.
@@LumaTo That sounds reasonable. The Plus series might be a nice middle ground between quality and playability. I'm either going rosewood or maple so that might put the Plus out of contest...oh well, it's good to have options 😲
I kinda want the white blonde tele, except I already have a tele so I won't.
I’m waiting for the series 3 Player Series. Should be out in a year or so?
nah min 5 year
@@doku1684 I hope I came off as being facetious ? These guitar companies , post pandemic slumps, are adopting the Proctor and Gamble grocery store model. Declare the same product new and improved and invent every possible permutation you can to take up shelf space.

That Birch Green needs to be never used again, that is fugly. Olive green would have been much more gooder.
At these prices they gotta be offshore. Have had 3 Squiers and 1 Mex.
Meh...
All this hype for rolled fretboard. New colors are fun though but the rosewood is grade C rosewood it looks like pau ferro on most guitars.
Either way, its a winner from fender again. Or mexico. Their mexican factory be bringing the dough.
Very well
Hopefully the player ii are a lot better than the player. The classic vibes were better and half the price. The fretwork was just bad on the mim stuff from the last few years and the tuners felt bad like the classic vibes ones.
It also looks like no fake wide range humbuckers. That is a big improvement.
Oh shit.... Fender brought out a new series of guitars that are just like the 5000 iterations before it?
Shit... Watch me not run out and buy one.
"fake animals" LOL
But its got a new hat!
HEY! 👋 Young Canadian Axe-Master!, I'm back for the comedy!, YO! Too funny!-WHAT!, FENDER DOESN'T SELL TO CANADa 🎉 on its Website? Wtf? O.K., that does it!- I'm dumping my CLAPTON STRAT!, & buying a GODIN! with the Cajun blue HB & Boost switch!
I’m considering selling my vintera ii jazzmaster and buying one of these player series ii guitar as with my vintera ii I don’t like how the fretboard is 7.25 radius makes it hard for bending
6:34 It’s Alinico II instead of the Alnico V’s for a “vintage” sound wtf that means 😂. I’m sure it’s a thinly veiled coat reduction to increase the profit margins for the fat cats on Wall Street 🤣
a price cut?? in this economy??
