Wow!!! My ex-husband flew from the old airport and returned at the new airport. He worked in the Engine Room (the massive HVAC/boilers/chillers/cooling towers etc) from 1987-1995. Our first son was almost born there as I spent lots of time exploring behind the scenes his department had the 2nd highest secimurity clearance (“Oscar” clearance was the operations and security clearance. I got to ride out on the concourses. So many memories tfor me at the old MSY (Moisant Stock Yards) Looks like the new MSY is more open and airy. No dark and dismal. Last time I flew from New Orleans to Portland Oregon was 2013. Thanks for sharing the video!!!
Me: NOLA born and raised. My mom: a flight attendant NOLA born and raised. She flew there for the first time last week to bring my grandparents here to Houston for the holidays, and she literally told me that I need to take a flight back home just to see the new terminal, it was just that stunning.

Such an awesome Airport! Wasn’t too thrilled with the Lyft lines when we first arrived and the TSA lines when flying back home, but overall what a beautiful airport you guys have, got excited to get that last Cafe Du Monde fix before we left lol!
It would appear that Concourse A is for international arrivals. It has a sterile arrivals set up directing passengers to immigration and customs, which is why it doesn't need food stands. And since the food is in the departure area, I doubt arriving passengers will linger to eat, so the food is mainly for departing passengers. But is certainly is a vast improvement on the old terminal.
@@NOLADEEJ I lived in NOLA some 40 years ago; they'll have to come up with a new direct link to the airport from I-10. If I can try to remember, I thought the old airport was something like the old LaGuardia Airport in New York.
Neat! Was the other terminal damaged from hurricanes or just to small to accommodate more flights. Emeril Lagasse is from my hometown of Fall River, Mass we went to the same vocational school!
It was so old! They didnt have enough rooms to accommodate flights. Very dank and dismal. Before I lived in Louisiana i had a connecting flight in MSY and had to go through TSA again because terminals weren't connected. Also not enough bathroomms

A new Airline, Breeze Airways, provides non-stop flights from the Northwest Arkansas National Airport, XNA, to the new Armstrong International Airport! First of all, XNA, though smaller, has an awesome terminal! When I arrived at the MSY, I couldn't get OVER the the dramatic improvement the new terminal of MSY is to the old one! And was the Round trip fare inexpensive! Northwest Arkansas is beautiful! Eureka Springs is not to be missed! No words can express the joy I feel that there's a Gateway between the city of my birth and the 7th best city in the country- Fayetteville, AR!
I have been there a lot cause I pick up my cousin from that airport I live in baton rouge Louisiana so yeah even tho I miss the old version of the airport I think the new one is a lot better
I won’t just be eating from the local restaurants when the plane lands, I’ll still be eating the last bite I can of local before I have to (begrudgingly) go home. Just one more bite!
It’s needs some major retail stores in it like Mac, Gucci, Tumi, maybe a nice sunglass store and a fragrance store like that’s what it’s missing and hotels around it them other hotels not doing it we still have some catching up to do

It's a pretty, clean, modern airport and definitely an improvement over the old MSY. My only gripe is that it looks like nearly every other new airport. Other than a couple small touches (the big tree photo), it's generic and cookie cutter. I wish that it was a bit more distinct and that it featured touches and designs that made it clear this was NO not "Any City, USA"

MSY should have a completely covered Arrivals and Departures. Local weather can be very unforgiving. Downpoars and intense heat will beleaguer passengers .
Can't wait to visit this when I'm back in January. Corridor to C concourse looks very small. As for the A concourse, it's pretty bare-bones as you described because on the other side of that white wall is the customs facility. Still weird that they don't have any concessions in there whatsoever.
A better comparison one can make is to compare with Berlin's latest unfinished airport. This 1 billion USD airport is about 1 11th of the cost of Beijing Daxing airport, therefore, do not compare this one with Daxing.

They have built different terminals at DTW (Detroit) for almost 90 years, longer than any other airport in the U.S.A. , new terminals same old airport. That is like saying you built a new train station and you have a new railroad. Maybe Terminal is not in NOLADEEJ's VOCABULARY.
Facts matter DIA was a new airport, MSY isn't.. I'm retired from CLT, added a runway, added a new concourse, added two terminal expansions, expanding main terminal, added 7 level parking deck, added 2 valet parking decks , added 2, 8 lane roadways, but one thing it isn't, a new airport... So MSY aint new...
This is the loneliest airport I have ever been to, gone is the soul of the OLD MSY. Their are no shops, just big empty nothingness. Its like someone took New Orleans, bleeched it clean and left it life less. Sad.
They have a shiny new building that is massively late and over budged. It will still be staffed by the same surly, eye rolling, lazy employees that infested the old terminal. Lipstick on a pig...the issues at MSY were service connected not so much facility connected...although the old facility should be an embarrassment to any city that owned that POS.
The worst airport in the USA by light years. They should castrate every single planner, traffic cop and employee so as not to infect the new airport with there stupidity. But then again ignorance is a trademark of the airport authority.

Not a fan of the new terminal. While it is large, it feels cramped at the gate areas. I'm flew during covid and it felt tight. When folks are back to moving around like normal, the place will make the traveler feel like a sardine.

The new airport is surprisingly manueverable. Whether you're a passenger travelling, or picking up/dropping off. I like it. Still wondering what they're going to do with the old airport 🤷♀️

I have never been to New Orleans air port and so its hard to tell how big the airport is compared to LAX ( Los Angeles) airport
