    Fate always plays a part in EVERYTHING , Dancing Brave was originally earmarked to be trained by one Mr Jeremy Tree , who trained one of my all time favourites Valuable Witness , but he did not like the look of the colt because he had a Parrot Mouth , that is how he came to be trained by Guy Harwood , his turn of foot was simply always breathtaking to behold a true Champion and Legend of the turf

      I loved Valuable Witness too - remember seeing him when he won at Leicester on a Wednesday night, unbelievable really but it did happen - golden times

    Certainly, in my view, the best horse ever. And Triptych was an amazing mare. Looking back, who would not have put those two in a straight forecast?

    • @MrBlackhibee

      Totally agree. The measure of how good Dancing Brave was how he beat one of the best fillies ever to race, Tryptich. Brilliant horse who went on to beat a top class field in the Arc, horses in that race were far superior to anything Frankel raced against with the exception of Cirrus Des Aigles.

    • @seanscanlon9067
      @seanscanlon9067 6 років тому +1

      Frankel didn't just beat those horses in a photo though, he generally annihilated them.
      Canford Cliffs, Colour Vision, Dick Turpin, Dream Ahead, Excelebration, Farhh, Nathaniel, St Nicholas Abbey and others were very good horses, made to look like also rans by Frankel.
      I loved Dancing Brave though and he was an exceptional horse but just don't think either horse needs to be be marked down in order to boost the other.

    The runner up to Dancing Brave in this race was Tryptych - the first filly ever to beat colts in the Irish 2000 Guineas and winner of 9 Group 1 races from 1984 to 1988 including the Champion Stakes twice, the Coronation Cup twice and the Judmonte International Stakes. She was placed in almost 50% of her 40 Group 1 races in Britain, Ireland and France over four years.
    She raced against Dancing Brave on various occasions during the 1986 flat season but couldn't get withing four lengths of him.

    Anybody notice the 2 races he didn’t win were on left handed tracks ! Still to me the best ever

    • @seanscanlon9067
      @seanscanlon9067 3 роки тому

      It makes little difference to flat horses and it is more significant to jumpers and even then, only when they do not jump and keep straight over the obstacles and so are losing ground and have to be straightened up. Jumping to the left for example on a right-handed course does not help but even jumping left on a left-handed course is insignificant.
      There were genuine reasons for Dancing Braves defeats and none were due to the courses being left-handed and besides, once they come off the final bend on any course it is a long straight line to the winning post anyway.

    Conjecture and subjectivity aside, the most versatile horse ever has to be Nijinsky. Triple Crown winner, who destroyed previous years Derby winner Blakeney in the 1970 King George after having won the Irish Derby in a canter.
    Only just touched off by Sassafras in that years Arc, after swerving left. Vincent O'Brien his trainer never one for making excuses said if Nijinsky hadn't contracted ringworm he'd have probably won. Unlike Frankel he never raced as a four year old so we will never know if he'd gone on to even greater heights, he just did it all in one incredible season not forgetting being on the go from early May to mid October
    Frankel certainly a great horse, but he only ran at a mile to mile and quarter and was sensibly campaigned.

      @@alistairhartley2988 Frankel won at 1m2f twice, including taking almost two furlongs to pull up after winning by 7 lengths from several multiple Gr1 winners the first time, and was still on the bridle a furlong out on soft ground the other time, when again beating several multiple Gr1 winners then too.
      Frankel's sire was Derby, Irish Derby & King George winner Galileo who was also the sire of several Derby winners, as well as St Leger and Ascot Gold Cup winners at farther than the 1m4f Derby distance.
      Frankel's full brother Nobel Mission was also a Gr1 winner at the Derby distance, so there was nothing to suggest Henry Cecil "knew he wouldn't make it" beyond a mile.

      Add to that, he ran down the camber at Epsom too in a diagonal path towards the end of the race and as a result covered more extra ground than he was beaten by.

    He may have gave Frankel a race, but visually (and we all see it differently) Frankel had "something" he didn't..
    I imagine Frankel breezing up to him at the 2 pole and accelerating from him at the furlong marker..
    Timeform say he wins by 3 1/2 lengths.. (Dancing Brave 140, Frankel 147).
    I think, while it's impossible to compare with accuracy (look at Sea The Stars, he won everything and we still never knew how great he was) I believe it's clear to see how Frankels Juddmonte (where he dispatched champions such as Farhh and St Nicholas Abbey so effortlessly) was superior in style and grace to any of Dancing Braves performances. especially over 10f.

    Good horse but no more impressive than Nashwan or Mill Reef when they won the Eclipse . I know it's all about opinions , but for anyone to suggest that Dancing Brave was a better racehorse than Frankel , then they are simply misguided . Prince Khalid Abdullah , owner of both Dancing Brave and Frankel , is absolutely adamant that Frankel is the best horse he has ever owned . After Frankel had hacked up in the Juddmonte , Nick Luck asked Prince Khalid which of his two great horses did he think was the best . Prince Khalid , without even a second's hesitation , replied , " Frankel ! "

    • @stevo62ful
      @stevo62ful 4 роки тому +1

      I'm not saying who was better between the two but how would Abdullah know ? He's just the billionaire owner of racehorses as expensive toys, he's no expert. a mutual trainer or jockey's opinion would be more valid.

    • @ThefightingCelt
      @ThefightingCelt 4 роки тому +1

      You obviously know very little about Prince Khaled Abdullah . He is an expert on all aspects of horse racing and the horse racing industry . Henry Cecil , Guy Harwood and Jeremy Tree , just three of the top class trainers who trained horses for Abdullah , always spoke about the man's vast knowledge of the sport , especially the breeding . Owners of great horses ; and Abdullah owned many great horses , usually refuse to choose their favourite or which one they considered the best . However , Abdullah consistently said in tv and press interviews that Frankel was the best horse he ever owned .
