Thanks Nic, an absolutely perfect way to close out 2023. The bell drills/tests are the best by far cause let’s face it; 1. It’s a far better alarm signal than a piezo will ever be and 2. In ten years there more than likely won’t be any bells left. Keep saving those 439D’s as you modernize, they will most certainly become more and more collectible with each year that passes.
By the way, I realized that your deck and the neighbors deck actually has string lights, because most time during the nighttime videos and the daytime videos, I saw the string lights at night time on your neighbors deck, and during the daytime there were that saw the string lights on your deck
It looks more 90s to me, especially considering Nic said the school was rebuilt around then. For 2004 the norm would be a silver plastic case, and it would also likely be a flat _screen_ model. Many late model picture tubes had a perfectly flat front so they were advertised as "flat-screen" which is technically true even though that term has a different connotation today.
@@eDoc2020 In 2004 my dad bought me a JVC stereo TV set from my local supermarket it was a black protective outer shell and it was a Tube TV with a bulging screen. sadly I had to get rid of it by taking it to my local electronics recycling depot on 2016 because of the majority of people have high definition flat panel TVs plus I wanted to switch over to Bluray. I had that TV for 12 years, now it no longer exists
That’s going to be impossible without replacing all the strobes. Sync-capable Integrities auto-sync like Genesises, so adding a sync module or enabling sync on the panel isn’t going to do much.
At least the EST is being replaced. Maybe an NFS-320c or NFS2-640 (depending on how big the old system is) with some XP6-MA cards (to cover the zones) and some power supplies (to cover the old signals and/or new synchronized l-series devices) would be an ideal retrofit replacement. I’d also put some ACS Annuciator cards in the panel to make disabling things/controlling things easier.
@@nics-systems-electric just got an idea: why not use an n16. There’s finally a video of one of these systems in action (look up “n16e fire drill”). Also, the n16e and n16x are much more modular/customizable which makes installation more economical than the onyx series. Unlike the onyx series which has a series of panels with specific capabilities that you have to keep in mind (especially with expansions), the n16e/x seems to be more focused on being modular and letting the end user choose what parts they do or don’t need while still letting the end user have room for expansion. You should probably look into this and have the school look into it as well. I think it could be better than the 3030.
@@nics-systems-electric Why a 3030 instead of a 640 because 3030s are too excessive for this small sized elementary school where they should've been planning to replace it with a 640 instead
@@nics-systems-electricOr maybe it could be the flash capacitors charging up whicn is why when you activate a fire alarm mostly on a power supply the horn will sound first before the strobe because the capacitor has to charge up
That brought back a memory of my middle (or maybe upper elementary) school. When we'd have a fire drill we'd hear a quieter alarm first (probably a louder one outside of the classroom), then several seconds later the alarms in the classroom would go off. As somebody with some level of sensory issues I found it nice as a less startling "warning." I have no idea what type of fire alarm panel it was but IIRC the classrooms were horns only and there were horn strobes were in the hallways, all unsynchronized.
Hey now I have a question about strobes. How do you actually prevent people with epilepsy from having an “allergic” reaction to strobes? I mean, the strobes are all unsynchronized.Greetings from Germany and keep it up. :-)
No probably not I don't know if the school district will be doing this one themselves anyways we might not have enough people since it was supposed to be on spring break but we are doing a upgrade at a middle school then

You can't beat the sound of a good bell ! Many of our UK systems use continuous bells on their fire alarms, as always a great video, many thanks. 👍
I like those bells set on continous🥰

There are some Mb 10 24s and lots of 439Ds bells and strobes sound lovely nic

The “flat screen” joke deserves recognition.

that Tube TV has got to be like from around 2004

I dont know much about fire alarm code. Why where the bells continuous instead of code 3
Because they weren't required to be temporal and you can't run strobes on a coded supply

They are supposed to be synchronized so if they all flash only once per second that does not trigger a epileptic seizure
synchronized strobes prevent seizures. the strobes in this building could cause seizures because they aren't synchronized
