Great interview, great person. So forthright and honest. She was so down-to-earth and real with none of those trappings of a Hollywood movie star, no airs about her. She was so very open and even answered questions on her romance/marriage/divorce to Rosselini, the director of her wonderful film "Stromboli". She also gave us an insight of how she switched roles with Lana Turner, opting for the bad-girl part, in the 1940's classic "Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde" starring that mountain of a talent, Spencer Tracy. I recall when I was a kid I used to cry every time I saw the wonderful Ingrid in Joan of Arc. Years later she proved her comedic ability in the glorious 'Cactus Flower' with another bundle of talent, Goldie Hawn and Walter Mathaeu. Yes, Ingrid will always be loved and remembered because she was a part of our lives that could never be erased. RIP dear lady!!!

Agree, her memoir book is a great read and it really shows her courage in the face of the media and of prejudices, her easy appreciation of other people and ability to see herself outside of the spotlight.
Her beauty has not faded with age. My fondest memory of her is in "The Bells of St. Mary" with Bing Crosby. The camera loved her and common people loved her because she never exuded the kind of ego and arrogance that we see in so many famous actresses today.

Casablanca is a great advert for the studio ‘system’ not unlike a players theatre, though the whole may not always have been right, the talent was so huge it could make everything work. As Ingrid mentions when she refers to all the wonderfully talented actors in small parts.
I personally never see Ingrid as an actress with superb acting ability (don’t hate me, just me) , but I must say she was a woman of ethereal beauty and class ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My Dad has a crush on her
My mother considered Marilyn Monroe and Ingrid Bergman as the two most beautiful actresses. Ingrid wasn’t my ideal of beauty, but wow, what a class act and superb actress.
I think Marilyn was pretty physically , but I didn’t like her acting style compared to classy Ingrid’s acting. Gene Tierney was my idea of ideal beauty.
Even with the questions~ look at how modest and innocent his questions are, todays questions to people are so private and extreme for questions! Back then they cared about the actual art and not pry into very private intimate questions
Those were the days when the guest wasn’t plugging their latest release. As a result, Parkinson would often have an entire show with some of the great legends of the silver screen.
Do wedding vows mean nothing? Have you read the 10 Commandments? Her affair was in the 1940s. The world was a more traditional place then. This has to be partly laid on the upbringing by her father and mother, not instilling the proper values in their daughter.
@@thomaspick4123 interesting you bring that up. I understand her mother passed away when she was a child. Her father was a photographer and made her feeling comfortable with being filmed and photographed. The fascinating thing for me is that she always went after interesting people and projects and marriage was A option for her but not the ONLY option. And she stuck to that her whole life against tremendous odds, and in that way she acts for me as a free and emacipated person and ahead of her time...
@@thomaspick4123 HER FATHER AND MOTHER BOTH WERE DEAD WHEN SHE WAS LIKE 12 AND I THINK WHEN YOU ARE AT THAT AGE AND YOU ARE CONSTANTLY AWAY FROM YOUR HOME AND NEAR SUCH HANDSOME PEOPLE YOU DO STUPID THINGS
People who learn to speak a 2nd language later in life, after having learned their mother tongue in infancy, never really "loose their accent", there is no such thing. Some might have a better command but the 1st language will always be stronger, overlap and show its influence, one way or another, especially when the mother tongue belongs to a different language family. The pronunciation is the first thing native speakers pick up on because that is immediately apparent to a listener, although it goes deeper than that. The brain has an extraordinary capacity for language assimilation, but non-linguists or people who never learned a foreign language to fluency rarely understand and realize that.
Bergman was 58 years young at the time of this interview. "Casablanca" was the only film she ever made with Humphrey Bogart and, considering their onscreen chemistry, it was tragic that they never repeated that foolproof recipe 🖐😉
Hollywood was so unfair to Ingrid in the late 40s / early 50s 😢 A lot of actresses in Hollywood had affairs with married men but didn’t get condemned like Ingrid did
It didn’t really help that she left her own child back home in the care of her husband to go search for fame ,find a famous married man and have children with him out of wedlock and then divorce him as well at the end .

Thats where we found crrptn in the HM Coroners. Burberry wont respond. We have found that Uni is full of corruptn as is the surrounding area incl Police. Courts. local govt. affinity groups. HM MPs and so on. He recently involved in anothet crrpt org which is mal funded ny Lottery etc. That also invlved the pretend ex Pm May. none of the ogs will answer questions. When we started discussing issues with a dept at notts the plug was pulled on the comms system and the person at their end disappeared. Altogether we have found similar things going on within 26 Universities. 26 Police areas. 26 Hm MPs. 26 local Govts.26 HM Courts incl CCC at E4 No reply from Baroness Kennedy at 'Justice' E4.(packs of lies'. The issue created by the 12 yrs we traipsed cent London knocking on doors accompanied by victims of the estab. We were subjected to violence and the culprits incl the public. The 1000 pp evidence was shown to BBC who advised this- .'Hide The Documents Abroad' We knew about 250 people at BBC and Cent London Theater. and they disappeared fast. The ones who 'found one' ended up broke. Theres another 999 pp of this.
Me too
I am just mesmerized by listening to her it’s the same quality she had as an actress
Ingrid was so humble and honest, her beauty on the other hand was God given
A lady of grace and dignity.
Wow what an interview . Both brilliant 👍
Casablanca is a great advert for the studio ‘system’ not unlike a players theatre, though the whole may not always have been right, the talent was so huge it could make everything work. As Ingrid mentions when she refers to all the wonderfully talented actors in small parts.
Ingrid Bergman was not only super beautiful, she had exceptionally sweet personality too.
God Bless Ingrid Bergman's Family
Isabella Rossellini looks just like her
And sound just like her too......
@@raffinee_3763 Yes, but
@@patriciawhitehead4313 You not her
Yes, they could be sisters
They are mother and daughter
I personally never see Ingrid as an actress with superb acting ability (don’t hate me, just me) , but I must say she was a woman of ethereal beauty and class ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My Dad has a crush on her
Thank you. This was wonderful.
I loved her in Cactus Flower.
My mother considered Marilyn Monroe and Ingrid Bergman as the two most beautiful actresses. Ingrid wasn’t my ideal of beauty, but wow, what a class act and superb actress.
I was the opposite - Marilyn wasn't my type - Ingrid was :)
Like a lot of American “ so called beauties “ Marilyn was all top show..
I think Marilyn was pretty physically , but I didn’t like her acting style compared to classy Ingrid’s acting. Gene Tierney was my idea of ideal beauty.
Wonderfull sense of humor. She kept it all through her life.
What an enchanting lady... she was always my favourite and in this interview is as radiantly beautiful as ever.
Notice how he lets her finish, his interviews were always like this. He rarely interupts. Unlike today's mob who are just looking for the next laugh.
It's a good thing Kanye wasn't interviewing her.
"Ima Let you Finish"...
What a woman ,all beauty and elegance ❤️
What a beautiful woman, in- and outside! The interview was in the year she discovered she had breast cancer.
she basically refused treatment
Do wedding vows mean nothing? Have you read the 10 Commandments? Her affair was in the 1940s. The world was a more traditional place then. This has to be partly laid on the upbringing by her father and mother, not instilling the proper values in their daughter.
@@thomaspick4123 What sense is there in continuing a loveless marriage.
What a smart woman who exuded class wherever she went.
although many of her movies are very worthwhile , ' the inn of the sixed happiness ' is her best work !
I will check that out..I also liked ' Gaslight'.
Yes…. I love The Inn of the sixth Happiness!!
I have a beautiful friend from stockholm. European women are really something special. A particular confidence that transcends beauty.
Ingrid Bergman's looks were breathtaking when she appeared in Casablanca. I believe almost everyone fell in love with her looks and wonderful talent.
Ingrid Bergman is the most wonferful person and the best actress in cinema history!!! ❤
It is the natural look and knowing her identity is what makes Ingrid Bergman an iconic star.
What a wonderful sense of humour!
She was a true genuine interesting honest simple talent in history of Hollywood !!🥰
She is so funny and very interesting! And I do love Parkinsons interviews.
Never lost her accent a beauty beyond comparison ❤️
People who learn to speak a 2nd language later in life, after having learned their mother tongue in infancy, never really "loose their accent", there is no such thing. Some might have a better command but the 1st language will always be stronger, overlap and show its influence, one way or another, especially when the mother tongue belongs to a different language family. The pronunciation is the first thing native speakers pick up on because that is immediately apparent to a listener, although it goes deeper than that. The brain has an extraordinary capacity for language assimilation, but non-linguists or people who never learned a foreign language to fluency rarely understand and realize that.
What a stunning, charming and gracious person she was. A stellar movie star without the need for all the star trappings.
Her daughter looks exactly like her Isabella Rossellini. Beautiful
What a classy, classy lady she was. Beautiful. 🌹
Very beautiful
Michael Parkinson is clearly enchanted by her, rightly.
Rightly so.
Correct,.
Definitely!
Incredibly beautiful
She was divine. She gives me a reason to believe in God.
Bergman was 58 years young at the time of this interview. "Casablanca" was the only film she ever made with Humphrey Bogart and, considering their onscreen chemistry, it was tragic that they never repeated that foolproof recipe 🖐😉
She was always so praiseful of others
Ingrid is around 58 years old here in 1973, and was 5 foot 9 inches tall...She died in 1982 at 67....
Hollywood was so unfair to Ingrid in the late 40s / early 50s 😢
A lot of actresses in Hollywood had affairs with married men but didn’t get condemned like Ingrid did
It didn’t really help that she left her own child back home in the care of her husband to go search for fame ,find a famous married man and have children with him out of wedlock and then divorce him as well at the end .
USA the country that frowns on nudity and human sexual failings.yet is quite happy to let Children run amok with guns… Ingrid was too good for Hollywood..🙄🇬🇧
i so enjoyed this as I am currently reading her biography 'Notorious' .She really comes across so naturally and joyous Thank you Parki we all miss you too
A perfectly lovely face that lit up when she smiled. I loved her as Gladys Aylward in The Inn of the Sixth Happiness.
She is absolutely right you DO NOT HAVE ALL THAT BADNESS TO MAKE A GREAT MOVIE! Amen
I can listen to her talk all day!
Adorably classy and intelligent and refined Ms Bergman.
She was my first crush on an actress. When I saw her in dr jekyll and mr hyde.
The Girl Next Door? Could have fooled me! The camera angle and lighting in many of her close-ups in Casablanca made her look 'angelic'.
I can recommend everyone to see that kissing scene she did in 'Notorious'.
Its a long tease, unforgettable..
@FAB4 a personal favourite is Goodbye again, after the novel Aimez vous Brahms of Francoise Sagan.
Filmed in Paris in 1961, just watch the trailer
She defied convention, maintaining a fabulous career till basically the end
She was love
Her beauty comes from within ..
Nicely done by both ppl. Love Ingrid 😍
She was love
Wonderful! Thank you for posting.
