This video is great (even for your high standards) because it includes a charismatic story, specifics on business models, technology and nitty details as well as the big ideas and theories behind it all. I really appreciate that you included what Ryan believes in and explain concepts like schlep blindness through his story. You tie it to society, current events, and trends (automation). You even manage to dispell some misconceptions about the industry. That is a lot in 15 minutes. Great job!
Thanks so much! My general idea is just, let’s pack in as many details as possible and really share every angle. Keeps it from getting boring IMO.
Underrated aspect of the story is that he and his brother worked on entrepreneurial projects together. How amazing it must be to have your best friend and family feed each other’s mindset, spirit and energy
glad that your channel is gaining the traction it deserves !
Yep
Thanks for the support! It’s so crazy that one year ago this channel had less than 100 subs.
@@JohnCooganPlus 100k coming soon!
just hit it!
@@JohnCooganPlus, Your channel is a big inspiration. I started creating my own content as a side project. looking forward to seeing more videos from you!
You're great dude, been following the channel for a few months now. Constantly learning thanks to you.
Thanks a lot! Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying the videos!
Awesome to see multibillion dollar tech CEO turn into vigilante journalist when no one else could do the job!
Great video!
It’s such a great story and one that’s going to start happening more frequently.
I gotta say, your videos are some of my favorite on youtube. Info packed.
I literally watched this video, paused, thought and rewatched it. Amazing content and I really like Ryan's perspective of things.❤🔥
Time is money. And I'm certain that my time is being invested on a proper channel. Nice dedication John, cheers.👍
This is a great channel, good job John !
Mr.Coogan , I’m stunt by the quality of your video … Like wow , thank you for your work . I had to stop the video and acknowledge how good this documentary is … 👌
Your videos are amazing and bingeable
Just stumbled onto your channel John, unbelievable stuff!
Thanks a lot! Glad you found it!
1:56 lol nice broll of ryan waking up
Glad you noticed!
Hooooooooooo I love it bro I've been waiting for someone to cover this you are the best candidate.
I was just waiting for your video 🙂
Bit of a hectic week, but still got one out this week.
Your videos keep getting better and better 🚀 🚀
That's the plan, just very small improvements every week adding up to big gains in the long term. My old videos are terrible by comparison, but there wasn't really one big leap forward, just small adjustments.
favorite youtuber atm
If this channel was a stock i would actually buy. Great video as always mate 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This information is outstanding!
This channel's content is definitely on par with wendover productions or coldfusion! love to watch the videos during lunch everyday
I’m a fan of both and I’d say this is better
I didn't know I wanted to work on global shipping software, but that GDP / software utilization ratio is straight fire.
Yeah it makes so much sense once you think about it. Why compete with all the other great developers when you could immediately be the best engineer in the entire industry from day one?
@@JohnCooganPlus Yea, I saw this to some extent in the sports industry.
Wow this is a really insane story, great video :D
Awesome, glad you liked it! Hopefully it’s new information!
@@JohnCooganPlus yeah it was very informative, well done! :)
Mostly based on reality..apart from the flexport stuff.
Wow john good stuff. from DR.waiyaki in Kenya Africa
Can't believe that such a well made documentary only have 17K views after 10 months smh youtube smh
I don't have time to watch it now, but I liked it!
Appreciate that.
"just stack higher" omg a genius
So basically no one was actually working on the problem in the first place.
yes lol, I don’t know why our politicians didn’t do this months ago. Following Ryan on Twitter has been very eye opening.
@@JohnCooganPlus i will! Thanks again
U did it again 💓
Thanks!
Great. Deep. Insightful.
Thanks Toke! I’m always keeping an eye out for your comments. Glad you enjoyed this one, bit of a random topic, but it’s such an interesting story.
Wow, I am really digging your style. Your voice demands attention, your posture oozes coolness and your narratives are super informative. I could go on about great lighting, effective presentation, short enough to keep us engaged, etc. Master . ...
Subscribed!
Wow, thanks a lot! That really describes all the things I'm trying to do well, so glad to hear it's working!
I worked for SAP, was part of a similar product for over 1 year. Problem with big companies is that they aren't agile and don't iterate fast
tnx, its inspiring
Another gold standard video!
Appreciate that!
Brilliant video - never heard of schlep blindness before! One question, what movie is that shot with the robot and Aaron Paul from?
Its from the series Westworld! (Couldn't recommend the show enough! Ironically, the season that features Aaron Paul is the worst season hah)
Man those founders are lucky, you make those Netflix like documentaries for them for free haha
John awesome video! How do you find the movie scenes for your youtube videos?
I actually use computer vision to detect objects in the footage and then search for keywords (like “shipping container”).
@@JohnCooganPlus , That just got you another "Share."
Haha I imagine one of the searches being "Ryan wakes up"
@@ProxyProof haha it’s not quite there yet. You might get “bed man smile.” Could definitely layer in metadata from the actors, character names, and subtitles though.
My dude why do you not have more subscribers I I cannot compute
It’s growing! The channel is still pretty new!
Dude, this is unreal. Well done.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
which language does ryan speak?
can you name them?
i am just curious
Nah this is wild
Good Morning.
Kept my interest, and now has me thinking about
tweaking some investment's.
Fascinating. Informative. Presented professionally.
Look forward to update's.
Yeah, there’s a bunch of weird things going on in the economy right now. Definitely a good time to stay vigilant.
I can tell from your videos that you watch the All In Podcast
hahaha facts
It so funny how the audience ansorbs so few about the video's topic. At least the audience that comment. Almost nobody says anything about the video; all the comments are empty and generic compliments about how great this guy is and how awesome it is the way he uses to make videos, and stuff like that. It is sad to see how numb people are to the information they consume.
Probly paid bots to respond imo. Why didn't you catch that?
lol read what you just wrote
Supply chain crisis is mainly because of poor decisions of poor decisions by the government. Why you didn't mention this main factor?
Song at 2:20 ??
Not sure, but sourced from Epidemic Sound or ArtList.
Just checking in on this one - seems even with Peterson and Flexports assistance the situation keeps on getting worse. Imagine that... Since Ryan has all the answers.. should have been sorted by now? Imagine being a shareholder in this nonsense
Well exactly, I don't see how this has fixed anything at all or see what this person did other than improve the ability to track shipments which wasn't the problem in the first place. This channel is just feeding peoples' delusions about 'progress'.
I try my best: "The Martian", "007", "The Big Short", "Lord of War", "Joy", "The Social Network", "Wall Street", "The Wolf of Wall Street", "Captain Phillips"...finally.."Donald Trump" 😊 wow, John must watched a lot of movies..😊😊
Hope more people realize things need to be pruced in USA, Canada and EU. Shipping stuff from the ccp is not smart long term. Nice company by the way. Great job John.
Then explain me why I can buy empty container for prepandemic price 1500-2000$ now you’re lucky if you find empty container at 4000-5000$
Not sure what you’re asking exactly…
@@JohnCooganPlus I think Diam is saying that you use to be able to buy containers for 1500-2000 usd. Now, when supply is high (they cannot get rid of them) one would expect the price for a container to be lower, but on the contrary they are more expensive at 4000-5000 usd. If this is the case it is quite weird.. And something I can't explain either.
@@ProxyProof hmm yeah, probably due to the location. Empty containers might be expensive because they are all stuck on trucks in LA, but needed in other markets.
4:50
ryan is based
You changed the title
A few times now, I’m testing to see what people are most likely to click on. Any ideas for what describes the video best?
@@JohnCooganPlus This made me think - should a video have the same title over the lifetime of the video? For instance I could imagine that launching a video with a somewhat click bait title could be good to get traction and the attention of the algorithm, but those tend to not age well, and perhaps it would make sense to change the title once the initial rush is over to something more timeless.
I am not great at these, but some off the cuff ideas:
* supply chain paradox: why supply is low but the ships are full.
* why the shipping industry isn't working, and what might fix it
* How FlexPort is trying to get you your Christmas present
Okay.. I am not a huge fan of these. Perhaps a bit too click bait.. I actually think focusing on the core of the video might be better. You tell a great story about FlexPort and Ryan. It isn't easy to tell someone in a title if they don't know them or you already. Marketing is hard.
To give a quick criticism of the current title "How Ryan Peterson is healing supply chains with FlexPort" - I think it lacks a bit of umpf. It feels a little like it is designed by committee. It has Ryan's name. It has FlexPort. It has "supply chain". And it describes the plot. That's a lot. When you pack all that information in a title it doesn't leave a lot of room for flair.
"FlexPort: Can technology fix shipping?"
"Why your Christmas present is stuck at sea"
Haha I'll stop now..
@@JohnCooganPlus both were fine. This seems like a particularly hard video to find a clickbait title for.
Please give us your music (sorry for the forcing)
Interesting I wanna like this the 1%
haha love this channel, but by god Flexport is one of the worst freight forwarding companies on the planet with terrible management and customer service. Good for him that this publicity stunt worked, but maybe change the title to "Ryan Petersen fixed one shipping issue, one time"
Port terminal operations for simpletons. By Flexports own admissions, 40%+ of Westcoast truckers use its software... Go figure that one out.. how much did you get paid to make this video btw ?
No sponsored in any way. Zero financial interest.
@@JohnCooganPlus your positioning of Flexport and Petersen is akin to "brought to you in association with ... " type noise. They are simply all over social media looking to capitalize on this mess, which is down to bad infrastructure and blind participants like flexport, grabbing shipments where they can, yet adding to the congestion. Flexport are in no position to be offering solutions. The ones tabled already are like something a child would suggest. Stack taller, stack nearer, have more chassis. Childlike,.
This aged poorly. Pedersen looks like a joke now.
NO MORE WILL SMITH IN UA-cam VIDEOS PLEASE!!!
Brother love your videos but this one is an insult to my intelligence, so the bottom line is that inflation is cause because there no way to offload empty containers from trucks and planes that are now empty of people can't bring cargo when should be the opposite, and you don't even mention that both political parties are expanding the money supply to infinite, k-mon brother a bit of honesty, you lost all my respect today.
Expanding the money supply is definitely a big part of why we’re seeing inflection. But the supply shortages are also a big part. I probably should have made that clearer. This wasn’t meant to be a full analysis of inflation though.
@@JohnCooganPlus keep up the good work, os very hard to make this videos, and you do have great content, this things are hard and there is no easy anwser. Keep at it.
@@leonelvalleperez8594 yeah, for sure. This is where I always run into trouble. I'm talking about one thing, and that bleeds into another, and I don't want the video to be 2 hours long, so I just summarize something that's extremely complex. Appreciate the honest feedback here, very useful stuff.
