A friend of mine owned those 4 LP Ultimas. He bought a couple of them from The Acoustic Room (Landon Dutson, another friend). He sold them to another friend that has a reverb shop called Paul Frehley's Guitarsenal in Lenexa, KS. It's a small world in the Crimson Custom realm.
I've been trying to buy an SG like the purple one and Gibson makes it really difficult. The Acoustic Room is a top tier certified M2M dealer. Even he has a hard time getting these. The wait time is very long. Sometimes 2 years or more.
There probably isn't much of a profit and they're time consuming building those guitars so they're not in a rush to build a lot of them.
He usually has some pretty nice guitars, and always takes the pics of them on that KISS blanket, lol
That SG looks amazing
I really love the Florentine cutaway,its my favorite of all the Les Paul body shapes. One word sums up this episode : DROOL

how long has the crimson div existed? I have a friend who has a sweet red quilt LP with the flame inlay on the neck. I dont have any good pics but I think it has the circlet like the elegant...Idk. he calls it the devils guitar. said he paid $6ooo for it in late 90's.
I like a bit of bling as much as the next guy, but those are just too damn much for anything I’d ever want. I’m glad they exist and that people can see what’s possible. But waaaaaaaay to gaudy for me. Id love to see that purple SG body with some normal SG Custom appointments.

I checked out the mod shop for this week. The two alpine white Les Paul guitars are beautiful but.....if I'm going to pay $5,000 to $10,000 for a new guitar... I'd be pissed as hell if it had any kind of blemish on it.

Those fancy coloured SG's are all well and good. But nothing beats the classic burgundy SG's as used by George and Angus.
Some examples of other purple sg's were the SG futura plum insane & the robot SG standard in metallic purple

Yeah, Mr. Trog, those Gibson 'Custom Shop Les Paul Ultima with Inlaid Harplady Ebony Fingerboard' are pretty common. I see em all the time at guitar center sam ash, and what not...
Extremely nice quilt nothing else about this guitar works for me well the headstock is nice as well

I think the purple one is just a little bit too godly the blonde one it was beautiful with that Ebony fingerboard. Or maybe it was Rosewood. Whatever it was, it’s beautiful I like the lighter colored ones with the dark necks with the inlay in the neck makes a truly beautiful guitar. I always wonder who buy these, the type of money you’d need to afford these type of instruments doesn’t really go with ‘person who likes guitar’
The kind of person who puts them in a display case or sticks them in a hard case in a storage place. They don’t get played. An absolute waste.
People like attractive objects and usually keep them indoors.

1:02 - Now we talking! This is the SG that dreams are made of. I could never afford one of these, I'm sure. I would have to build my own.
The only thing I do not like about this guitar is the plastics. The toggle switch tip and the pickup rings would have to be switched out to gold, black or dark purple (that's if you can find dark purple) pieces. White doesn't go well with this guitar.
The purple top is undeniably gorgeous... extraordinary craftsmanship, yet all tacky enough to be right at home in the exaggerated apartment in Chump Tower.

Trogly, keep those Custom Shop Crimson Division Ultra Rare Limited Edition Exotic Top One Off Special Build guitars coming! They remind me of the days I used to cut class in high school and peruse all the guitar shop windows on Music Row 48th Street, Manhattan, back in the late 80's. There was Sam Ash, Manny's Music, Rudy's, and my personal favorite, 48th Street Customs, where they had a window view right into the Luthier's Machine Shop. I watched Custom Shop ESP's being made right before my very eyes! It was a guitar players wonderland! Those were really cool guys. They let this broke kid play the George Lynch Kamikaze & the Superstrats they made. Awesome times!

I Truley Doubt Gibson fired JC, He's a fixer he comes in help struggling Companies and then brings them back turns things around and then leaves to go to the next company that's needs his service. He doesn't stay long ether. look at his resume he stays around 2 to 5 years then moves on.

Yikes. SG’s like this have lost the plot. The thing that makes SG’s cool is they’re all business, no fuss no muss. As soon as Gibson makes them all frilly with flamed/quilt maple and bling out the wazoo they just turn “meh” for me.
As Swaffy101 said earlier in the comments, “just because they could doesn’t mean they should”.
And just like his comment, your view is a very boring and bland one.
