Strangely me too. In this past month I have been seeking the Lord with intense sincere prayer which followed an intense devotional and scripture reading. I wonder if Jesus Christ is quickly approaching this year or its just a season of revival or something. No clue, stay steadfast in His Word and trust El Shaddai who is in control of all things
I pray in tongues all the time. Back in 2020, I was finally baptized in the Holy Ghost. I went to a Penecostal church with a friend. I felt the urge to go up to the front. At the end of service, the pastor put his hang on my shoulder. He said , “ You have the Holy Spirit all over you”! Than he and my friend out there hands on my head and they began praying in tongues. I was just standing there and nothing was happening! Than as soon as I opened my mouth, these words just began flowing out of me! It was literally bubbling up in my spirit! I then started speaking this language! I had know idea what I was saying! I couldn’t control it. At that moment, I knew it was real! It wasn’t me! That night when I went to sleep, I couldn’t! The Holy Ghost in me, was singing the entire time! I was singing worship songs in my head all night. It is definitely a supernatural experience from the Holy Ghost. It is also a weapon! Ever since this happened, I pray in tongues all the time! When I’m depressed and Satan wants to make me question my purpose! I begin to pray! If I feel someone has a demon, I will pray for them under my breath! God is so good. He wants his prayers to be spoken into the earth. Out of us and into the world around us. I’m not ashamed! ❤

A few months ago i was hanging around some people who said lots of rude things. I had been a christian my whole life but i was sorta falling away. One night i was doing the same. Later that night, something hit me. Told me to go to youtube shorts. So i did. I saw a video of jesus and it just moved me. I’ve now stopped hanging around those people, and i go to church weekly and i’ve been baptized! Thank you Jesus!!!❤❤

Kap. My criticism is the same as yours. I also wish they would have tested people just speaking gibberish. My hypothesis is that their frontal lobe would have still shown activity because they would have to think about what they were saying, nonsensical things or not. I wondered that the entire video. And as a believer is Y'shua, I have to say that there have been times I have spoken in tongues and I have then had scriptures flowing through my my mind and as I spoke them, they formed a cogent prayer. I have heard Christian pastors I have respected say that this is not a real gift and that people are speaking nonsense. My faith in this got assaulted horribly and this video has helped me so much. Ask god for your prayer language and thank him for the belief in his gifts of the spirit. Then receive. Listen for him to tell you to speak and it will come out. Every believer has access to all the gifts of the spirit. He is pouring out.

Bible translations matter. Speaking in tongues is speaking in another language, i.e. the Holy Spirit is praying through you in another language that you don't understand (Acts 2:4-11 KJV). I believe Romans 8:26 is saying that the Holy Spirit prays FOR you when you don't know what to say, not THROUGH you by babbling.
This is only partly true.
Tongues can be a human language you don’t understand, or a spiritual language. Here’s proof:
“For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious.”

According to Strong's Concordance: "tongue" means "the language or dialect used by a particular people distinct from that of other nations", and "understandeth" here can mean "to hear" as well as "understand".
My understanding is that you can still be praying in in another language and no one understands it because no one speaks the language, or even that there's no one around to hear it.
@@KapChatfield By the way, I recently discovered your videos and they've been a blessing in a time when I've needed them the most. I still encourage you to research how the Bible has been manipulated and corrupted through new translations, even maliciously. Verses have been removed or changed enough to distort their meaning... and I believe that the most accurate version is the good old KJV. :)
@@KarlosJKarlosI used to think the same. But KJV was done using only a handful of manuscripts dated to after 1000 Ad. They did not even have the full Revelation book and they had to use a Latin translation to fill the gaps. After that, thousands of manuscripts were found even five to six hundreds years earlier than the ones used for KJV. They saw that some copyist have added verses out of memory in some places where the earlier manuscript do not have them. So newer bibles have removed those verses as they were never there in the first place. You find them in the footnotes so they are there for reference. God is able to preserve His word. ESV NASB Berean Bibles and many others are worthy translations. Beware of the message or passion or other distortions. But generally you can tell very easily without even being a scholar that those are perverted version like the gay Bible.

Not only does our prayer language speaking in tongues edify the believer and build him or her up in their faith to pray God's perfect will because it's the Holy Spirit praying through us, the devil doesn't understand what we are praying 🙏
I was given the gift of the holy spirt as a child, i was around 12, its not just given to anyone, once i truly laid my life down for christ and put him first is when i received it.
When I was 9 years old I professed Jesus Christ as my savior and was baptized. After service the Pastor and Elders tried to "pray me through" until I spoke in tongues (eye roll) and I was so upset after two hours, that I did the jibberish thing so they'd leave me alone. That experience scared me for a long and as a young adult I strayed away from God and belief in Him. Later in my life I came back, the epitome of the prodigal son/daughter, and when I finally understood who and what God was and that I loved him with my whole heart, I spoke in tongues. How beautiful it is.
I really want to know why some people who speak in tongues repeat the same few sounds over and over again...sometimes incessantly. I don't understand that.

hi brother. I do not think you should really worry yourself about not understanding as this is a language one speaks to God and not to man. so none of us actually have to get it. I agree that some fake tongues but please don't dismiss such tongues altogether. the 1st time tongues were activated in my life, it was exactly as you have stated about the sounds. I was scared a bit to continue as it did not make sense to me. but I have since decided to yield to The Holy Spirit and understand that I won't understand what I am saying unless God interprets them. but these tongues edify the one praying. many many times I have witnessed someone praying those tongues in church and someone else interpreted, and its not a language that anyone understands.

I’ve never understood or believed in praying in tongues. I’ve always seen it as a fake performance for the entirety of the church. It’s always been on demand and then can be told to stop and they do.
It can absolutely be done on demand because the fruit of the Holy Spirit includes self control.
Paul wouldn’t exhort the church of Corinth to operate in and out of it in an orderly fashion if people didn’t have control over it.
God doesn’t clobber you over the head with a blunt object and then force you to do anything you don’t want.
"For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful." 1 Corinthian 14:13,14
Speaking in tongues without interpretation is unfruitful to the understanding, and nothing can be gained for the speaker, nor for the church.
"What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." 1 Corinthian 14:15
Paul confirms that we must pray with the 'understanding'.
"Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?" 1 Corinthian 14:16
If there is no understanding for the speaker, then there can be no understanding for the unlearned, it is of no advantage to the speaker, to the hearer, or to the church.

I must confess that I used to think that this was kind of nuts, that speaking in tongues was the sudden gift of speaking to some other person in that person's language to witness to them... which is still a gift. BUT, NOW THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS, I KNOW IT IS REAL, and have had occasional interpretation suddenly come to me when hearing others... FREAKY, BUT TRUE! I am sorry for all my past judginess. I FINALLY UNDERSTAND, and GOD, YAHWEH, YESHUA is amazing!! GOD BLESS❣

Before I finish the video, the main thing I know from reading the Bible from 1 Corinthians and Romans is that it’s something for you and God. However, since it can’t be understood by men it’s not something that can be used for the edification of the Church.

The book this is from is called How God changes the Brain. Tongues is only one small part of the study. There is an instant change in brain activity when someone enters into sincere prayer.

Tongues are one of the many spiritual gifts listed in; I-Corinthians 12:7-11.
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”

As a linguist, I’m very familiar with the study done by the Univ. of PA using SPECT imaging. The results are exactly what one would expect. The reason why the language producing centers of the brain are not overly active in the production of glossolalia (tongues-speech ) is because it is not language; it’s non-cognitive non-language utterance - essentially, random free vocalization. As such, these centers in the brain do not need to be overly active - there’s no language being produced. These results have been twisted by certain groups to “evidence” that tongues-speech is the Holy Spirit speaking through the person. Actually, what it evidences is just the opposite - that’s what’s being produced is not at all language.
‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy, nor is it the self-created non-cognitive non-language utterance of modern tongues-speech.
Thanks for the comment! For the second half of your comment, that’s not entirely true. There are expressions of tongues in the Bible that can be understood by men (Acts 2) and others that can’t. It’s not purely an evangelistic tool.

@@KapChatfieldexactly. If there is no interpreter Paul says to keep it in your prayer room and use the gift with God. But instead in many churches you have hundreds of people speaking incomprehensible syllables and you NEVER see anyone interpreting it! If the gift of tongues is still active why is the gift of interpretation not active? And by the way 1 cor 13 is actually not supporting the gift of tongues. Paul is actually making an hyperbole like if I was flying or jumping a mile and did not have love I would be nothing. Meaning Paul could not speak the language of angels. But Paul indeed could speak many languages and dialects because it would help his ministry. Speaking in tongues as a gift is supposed to edify the church. But hundreds of people speaking it and no one translating it does not edify no one and it is what Paul commands not to do. If one has the real gift of tongue they have to keep it in private prayer because there are no interpreters around. For many who just blab meaningless words leaving their brain empty there is the risk of opening up to evil spirits. And many actually are oppressed by evil spirit who blab for them making their prayer useless. I also do not support churches who say that the gift of tongues is the sign that you have the Holy Spirit because Paul says that each believer has different gifts. And not everybody has the same. So those churches push people to fake tongues to be accepted. Paul would harshly rebuke them. Tongues is the most abused gift because you can’t prove it is real or not real. You can’t fake prophecy, your prophecy will be tested. You can’t fake leadership, if you can’t lead no one. You can’t fake discernment, or wisdom or any other. But gibberish even kids can fake it. I want to see an interpreter at least once. In Acts only some people spoke tongues after baptism. Paul himself did not. It is not a sign of true baptism. It is only one of the gifts. If the Holy Spirit helps when we don’t know what to pray for, how can the pastor switch it on just for a test? Are we testing the Holy Spirit now? Are we putting Him in a lab?
@@KapChatfield From what I've seen people speaking in tongues are very repetitive. If it is from God, they're saying the same things over again, at least in most cases. I've never known anyone to be able to confirm someone else's language. You will Not find an American speaking in tongues in German, French, Spanish, or Italian, and yes I'd love to be proved wrong, but I have to remain skeptical for now. It is rare for anyone to give an interpretation, and even rarer for someone to say "You're speaking in my language!". Ask ten Christians to speak in tongues and ten people to speak gibberish, I'm not convinced you could tell which group was which. I have a pretty strong background in languages and most people's tongues are not convincing. You will never hear anyone speak slowly in tongues, because gibberish is easy to detect when done slowly. If God has some people speaking in tongues, great, but He's yet to reveal it to me.

I might be wrong, but every verse i remember reading speaking in tongues was not an unknown language. It was always people of different languages heard it in their own language not an unknown language
I read an interesting testimony on the YT comment section but I have forgotten which video I read it from There was a woman leader praying in a tongue in the service and one of the believers was led to tell the spirit praying through the woman to speak in English.
What was being said was this:
F your Jesus and f your God.
I concluded from that testimony that if demonic tongues exist, then so does prayintg in tongues through the Holy Spirit.

@@carlogeorge2349 I would say a number of people have trouble discerning which spirit is of God or not [1 John 4:1 says to test the spirits] or are ignorant (read: dismissive) of the spiritual world altogether (so some end up being victims of witchcraft spells via spiritual warfare, etc. and blame it on God when it was not His fault but theirs, sad to say.) I also made the mistake of not discerning a true pastor from a false one (and what made it difficult was that he did not speak in a language I knew) and I paid for it in increased demonic torment. I also learned my lesson: not to listen to people who don't know how to discern and/or are dismissive to unseen things, even if they are close friends and family. God showed me through my current experiences that my discernment was abysmally low, making me a spiritual sitting duck, so I don't wanna be a duck no more and go through things I could have avoided period if I took God seriously enough in the 1st place.
Kap, I love your messages. My reaction to this is quite different. I understand that speaking in tongues was a gift to the disciples so they could talk to anyone, no matter what their language - it's not speaking a supposed magical language of heaven. Acts 2:1-13 talks about it. No mention anywhere of 'praying in tongues', which I don't believe in since God knows what language we speak and understands us just fine. Most people do this for show like fake healing. I visited an Apostolic church as a kid and the whole church was doing this 'on command' -- babbling words that were of no recognizable language. I never went back. I think this has been badly misunderstood.

Yes, absolutely bless Kap. I am not taking anything away from Christians, so please don't take what I'm going to say out of context. God gives everyone certain gifts and I'm not saying that real Christians don't have faith, cuz they do, not everyone can speak in tongues, but do have other gifts that God has given them. Me personally, I do believe what Jesus Christ did for me whole heartedly and I stand with Christ 💯. I just want to say, Kap, I hope God allows you to see this, cuz I'd like to meet you, not cuz you do this on UA-cam, but so that God is wanting me to tell you my testimony and hopefully that I can come there and tell everyone what I've been through and what God allowed me to see through my wonderful life that he's given me.
I was just getting ready to say the same thing. You are right. God gives each of us believers different spiritual gifts. I dont believe we can all speak in tongues and when it happens it's not gibberish and baby noises, it's an actual language that can be deciphered. I agree with Kap on science and faith going hand in hand. It would be cool to see more studies but I already have my evidence that Jesus is real and he dwells inside me. God bless everyone.
Amanda, that's my baby sister's name, I just want to say that just cuz we're not speaking in tongues, doesn't mean that we love God any less, that's far from the truth. I don't know where you are from, but I just want to know what you are holding on to and the Holy Spirit wants you to let it go, forgive that person but don't be to quick to trust them.

But I know God forgives me so I gotta also forgive myself. And yes I agree people should know that just cause you cant speak in tongue doesnt mean you arent saved or God loves you less. @@amandaanderson4125 that's what God wants us to do is forgive so he can forgive us. Scripture says that we must forgive so our heavenly Father can forgive us, but if we don't forgive, then our heavenly Father won't forgive us

infirmities = Astheneia in Greek for "weakness, illness, suffering, calamity, frailty
Groans = stenagmois in Greek for "complain (1), deep sigh (1), grief (1), groan (3).
So when you pray and weep and groan for sins the Holy Ghost carries this to the Father or intercedes for us.

I've never prayed in tongues but aye I'll still make it to heaven tho I always wanted to pray in tongues
I believe that anyone who claims to have prayed mentally and say they find themselves drifting away in prayer are in a way praying in tongues just mentally and not verbally. I believe people are getting a misconception that praying in tongues must only be done using the mouth. I tend to pray mentally most of the time and find myself going into a deep trance of meditation where I lose my words in my mind, yet I am in a deep focus with spiritual intention to God through my prayer.

I’m a new Christian..I just started reading the Bible and baptized a year ago.
My pet cat Hank, my best friend, died Tuesday morning. I’m really struggling with his loss. I’m trying to find comfort in the thought that he may be in heaven, but I haven’t learned anything about animals in heaven through my Bible reading…I feel really lost without my friend.
Does anybody know if cats go to heaven…it seems like such a silly question to me but I worry for his sweet soul. I want to see him again.

I've watched tons of NDEs (near death experiences) and there were some that said they saw their beloved pets in Heaven..I'm an animal lover and pray I see mine as well..I really believe they will be there with us..I'm sorry for your loss of your precious kitty, I have quite a few myself, I pray this gives you some kind of comfort, and I pray God gives you peace regarding this❤God bless
I believe it, but at the same time, I believe that some people are mocking God just for their own gain, profit. So all I got to say is that if you want answer, seek it out yourself. Your personal prayer should be in somewhere quite, private anyway. Doing such thing in a congregation is not wise.

There's a language called Enochian. It's of angels. I wonder if some words of the Spirit might coincide with that. I will listen next time I hear tongues.
I went to a church where they tried to force you to speak it. It didn’t set well with me. I believe it’s a gift that is given by God. I believed my gift was visions. But only to other believers. It would just come out and they would ask me how I knew or why did I say that? And at the time I wouldn’t know why. I thought it was a bad thing but everything that I saw was always good. It was when I was really into the word and it scared me because I didn’t want people to think I was a psychic that sees the future. So I believe that’s when I stepped back. But I’m slowly getting back into the word and not stressing out whatever God wants me to have. If it’s tongue, healing, vision or whatever else he gifts his children with I will take whatever in faith. He knows my story because he wrote it! And it’s going to end well!

It is one of the gifts God gives people. Not everyone receives that gift. Paul wrote he wished he had the gift of prophecy. 1 Corinthians 14.
OPINION ALERT:
I believe there’s a difference between the gift of tongues for public edification (1 Corinthians 12) and the prayer language for personal edification (1 Corinthians 14).
I also believe everybody has the ability to pray in a prayer language, though many don’t whether because of lack of understanding or desire.
It’s not clear cut in Scripture, but the reason I believe this is because Paul specifically said he wished that ALL (1 Corinthians 14:5) spoke in tongues. I imagine that if it wasn’t God’s desire for all to speak in tongues then Paul wouldn’t say it, and it especially wouldn’t be in the Bible.
There’s room for disagreement here. There has been for thousands of years. But this is what I gather when I study this.

Speaking in tongues is one of the gifts - the Bible specifically calls it a gift and that the Spirit gives the varying gifts to whom He pleases- there are many other gifts as well- the Bible says not all get every single gift or the same gift. But tongues is described as not the greatest gift- the greatest is love. Because tongues can be faked- love is hard to fake. Unfortunately, too much attention is at times given to the gifts of the Spirit and not the Fruit of the Spirit. Love is a gift and a fruit. We should all ask the Spirit to help us bear Fruit of the Spirit, and effectively utilize whatever gifts He decides to give us.

I don't really understand how you can just start praying in tongue. Which is weird because I can absolutely say I've had 3 specific encounters with the Spirit. My baptism at 16 yrs old and the last 2 times were what I can only explain as the Spirit tapping into my minds frequency. Both those times were after I was praying for about 30 minutes, and then I was just overwhelmed with peace and comfort. For some reason, I can't wrap my mind around how to speak in tongues.
Caution needs to be heeded here, where that one person may have that "GIFT" which is given and not learned. Tongues has been grossly misunderstood over the last 160 years. The phenomenon of speaking "like a baby" started in the 1880's and they sent people to different countries and the mission work failed because no one understood them.
Speaking in different languages was just that, different languages. Just remember as Paul said "not everyone speaks in a different tongue, just as not anyone prophesies or teaches" there is a recent practice with false teachers leading the flock astray believing if you don't speak babel (which means confusion in Hebrew) you are not saved. The gift of different languages God used so that language wouldn't be a barrier "for the gospel" so tongues is not for the saved but the "un-saved" as Paul states. Best example of this is in Acts 2.
