    Vangelis has departed, leaving us a tremendous music heritage as no one else did before, technology and electronic music without parallel. Vangelis will live through the cosmos and beyond.

    "It's the incredible need of the Universe to return to harmony. Without it, nothing can function."
    Your voice is sorely missed, Vangelis. You were the hero of me and I'm sure many musicians like me.

    listening to Vangelis is pure poetry, it is not just music, is something much higher, it really touch your soul, it takes you to another dimension. For me, Vangelis, is one of the rarest people on Earth which i wish, without any doubt, to live forever! I hope from all my heart that God will give him a very special place, after his life, in His Kingdom of Heaven!

    Hello Chaos and Hatmony, hello Vangelis.
    Vangelis is astonishing, not only throughout his music but, and mostly, through his so simple - but so beautiful and accurate - ideas and concepts.
    He is 77 years old and yet he has still the eyes of a child, and a happy one. I believe that that is what drives him until today.
    "Always keep the child in you alive. The day you will let your inner child die will be the day you will stop being happy."
    Vangelis magically kept his inner child alive through all these years, because that's happinness we can see in his eyes.
    In spite of his 77 years old, may Vangelis live still longer, because his happinnes spreads around and makes us happy too.
    Thank you so much, Vangelis.

  • @digitalramyun
    @digitalramyun 7 років тому +2

    Trivia for the musicians here: the synth Vangelis is playing from about 10:23, is a Yamaha CS80 - perhaps the nearest we have to his "signature instrument", as he also used it prominently on "Chariots Of Fire" and "Blade Runner".
    Amazingly, the CS80 was launched way back in 1976, but Vangelis is still using it - perhaps because in many ways it has never been surpassed for sound or features (although apparently it is a beast to keep in tune).

      He would scare the living daylight out of me- it would be like dining with Carl Sagan or Albert Einstein... And yes, that CS-80 is not real, at least you cannot hear it in the music. As a MIDI controller it would be pretty worthless, the music is obviously overdubbed here. Not that it matters, Vangelis is NEVER about the music technology.

I used it extensively on my band's record Mínym (by Mimedyr) for leads and sound effects. Also interesting in the context, since the concept of the album was mainly inspired by Carl Sagan's Cosmos and therefore indirectly Vangelis.
