Had this on in my car and my passenger was deeply offended by it. We had a big heated discussion on it and I implored her to listen to the lyrics. She reluctantly did then realised it was actually empowering women. Another convert 😉💜

The media dogged the album but they did that often with Prince music because he was fighting with the record label

Glad you did this ! A lot are afraid to react to this. When this was played in the club , the women went wild ! "oh Sh*t ! That's my song ! "

A favorite of this 70 year old white man. Prince was the best (non-commercial) musician, lyricist during my lifetime. Peace out.

My absolute favourite song on the album. Great message, and banging musically.

I think this song has one of the best outros of any song...the last minute and half of this song is awesome...I never skip this song till the final sound.

Just FYI...there is an alternate version to almost every Prince song. I don't think he ever thought the first version would ever be the final version.

That album on vinyl is in the $2000.00 range! That was issued during the CD explosion, so low run print. First issue of Nirvana Bleach on the Sub Pop label is also another $2000.00 plus value for the same reason. the more you know!

$2,000 smackers?!? Zoinks! (I was afraid of this!) I sold my copy of Bleach like a dumb cluck! Let's Go Crazy/Erotic City extended play is on lock!

This is another song that I have in my collection by Prince.....the truth of this song cannot be understated.....because women have power some may realize it and some may not.....I always say, "if a woman has a man's heart she also has his ear".....one of the paths to a man's heart.....and you know the rest.....

Yes there is another version of this song. He did a (club mix edit) version. Same intro & then go into a short sample & on it has a dj scratching on it.

HELL 2 the Yeah........Prince was a bad dude ....I loved, loved, loved P. Control the first time I heard it!!! I was tickled to death seeing your reaction 2 this badass song....this song is straight up empowerment 4 young girls, grown women, mature women, all females...... since the beginning Prince has always managed 2 rock our world with that element of surprise, and that's why whenever Prince would drop a new album, it was always met excitement and anticipation....no other artist that I am aware of has ever had that type of effect on me......Prince was on a whole notha level......and he's still... still.... the baddest in all the land........

🍒♥️🍒Most people don’t know this, but there was a video made for this song. It was up on UA-cam for like a blink and they only showed liked 30 or 40 seconds of it.
The part that was showed was when Prince saids...🎵I pulled right up beside her and my electric top went down🎶I said motherfu#ker...well you know the rest, lol🎼. The video looked like it was shot in Las Vegas at night. Very colorful. The women were about to go dancing inside a club when Prince pulled up. Prince was wearing what looked like a leather jumpsuit with the initials NPG in gold on his chest. I think the convertible he was in was red or maybe it was his outfit.
The thing is mayte was not playing the part of the woman he was flirting with, instead it was this beautiful dark skin black woman, with a short black Afro wearing a white halter top, white shorts and I think a long white boa, that Prince was tugging at. I recognize her as one of the backup dancers on the first “ VH1 Fashion And Music Award Show “, when they did this song live for the very first time. Prince was the opening act. She was one of Prince’s backup dancers, along with mayte and another young lady. They were acting out the song. I couldn’t believe my ears that on national television in America Prince somehow got to do this song in full! There was a warning before the start tho. After they left the stage the runway models started modeling on the opposite stage to the remix version of this incredible song. If you can find the original version of the award show performance that would be great. For some reason the ones I’ve seen on UA-cam aren’t Crystal clear and I noticed that with the black dancer her face seems to be blurred out of those versions. Hmmmm.
    P. Control is one of the top favorite karaoke songs, in all types of clubs, but please people watch out using the “ N “ word. It’s one thing for Prince to do it, but for the rest especially in public, that’s just asking for trouble, lol.🍒💋🍒♥️🍒💋🍒

That's my least favorite track on that album, but the fact that my least favorite is someone else's favorite is just testament to Prince's genius.

Just found JJ. Come is one of my top Prince albums. Never understood as a kid why the music critics hated hit. The horn section alone deserves a grammy or w/e.
Pls review the whole album. From a new subscriber. And keep it up, love that you keep doing whole albums.

Prince had beef with the whole music industry it's not that he wasn't commercially relevant when labels tell stores and radio stations not 2 play your music it's because they want u 2 disappear. Watch Slave Trade How Prince Remade The Music Industry 2 understand. Mp3 digital downloads selling music online u can thank Prince 4 that. It hurt the industry in a big way because artist realized they didn't need their labels as much if at all. He is the only artist 2 have a truly independent label no parent company

I'm a huge fan born in 1985. Diamonds & pearls was the first live drop I remember when I was 6. Thanks 4 being a Paisley Parker. This is a feminist album. I believe the Camille persona dissapeared into that nonbinary name O(+> & further dissapeared into the vault when he went jehovahs witness. The Rainbow Children is his most JW spiritually advised record, but still good. Pussy Contol is AMAZING. He got put down by his og fandom for selling out to Rock but u can hear him reclaiming his roots a lot after that when he went psychedelic ATWIAD & later & shrugged off those critiques especially here w p. Control. Family Name is another great one.
