    This was hands down, the BEST sewing tutorial that I've seen on YT. I love a lot of sewists on here but your tutorials are so thorough. You didn't leave one detail out and you didn't just speak to the camera without showing what you were doing. The smallest details were covered. My cousin wants me to make her a skirt even though I'm an amateur but now I feel confident that I can do it if I take it slowly. I'm gonna practice on a muslin first but I'm so excited to follow your tutorial.

      Thank you!!! My goal is t to make sure that everyone feels confident when sewing along with me, thank you for letting me know that I am fulfilling that. Yes, practice on muslin first, I did the same thing when testing the radius. You're going to do great! I can't wait to see the skirt you create!

    Girl! As long as I've been sewing, I never would have thought to put painter's tape at the mark on the sewing machine to make it easier to follow along! Genius!

      I love it! I even bought 1/4 inch width to use on my serger, works great.

    Honestly the only pocket tutorial I ever use. I’ve only ever put in about 6 pockets in my life and they’ve all come out beautifully! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and skill!!!

    I believe we are stronger as a community by sharing diverse ideas and even the seemingly simple ideas. It's little things like your painter's tape hack that remind me of that (also makes me wonder why I didn't think of it--lol).

    hi, can i ask..when it comes to adding the pockets you say "we have made two knotches, one at the bottom and one at the top." I only saw you cut the bottom ones on the front panel when we made the pattern, "wo cuts half and inch apart" where should the top knoch be?
    also is it possible to know the dimentions of the pocket as i dont have a printer. This tutorial is so clear and helpful. thank you. x

    Hi! I love your tutorials! You're very detailed and clear! However, I was wondering why it was necessary to trim the waistband after attaching it to the skirt?

  • @tonyagrob9901
    @tonyagrob9901 4 роки тому +1

    The edges of these pieces of material look like they already have some sort of stitching going on. The edges of your last piece were never stitched. Is this important? Will this change the skirt?

    Thanks! Great tutorial. Any idea why my waistbands always have a gap once completed? My measurements are correct but what's happening is the band fits perfect right where the zipper meets between the body of the skirt and the waistband BUT the top part of the band have gaps. I have been trying to figure that out for a while but can't. All suggestions are welcomed!

    • @titiasplantedaquariums
      @titiasplantedaquariums 5 років тому +1

      I had that once to with a waistband. The best option in my opinion is to make a waistband that consists of 3 parts, 2 back to side pieces and 1 front to side piece. Same as the skirt pieces. The top of the sideseam can act like a sort of dart. I hope this idea will help you.

    • @shrondag

      @@shrondag If you want to know the exact amount you need to take in at the top of the side-seam-waistband, then you can measure yourself at the approximate hight above the waistline.

    on your resources page you show 2 different radius guides. what is the difference please. I wish to make a midi from this, with a larger waist/hip than you, hope I can figure how much 60" material to purhase

    • @MontoyaMayo
      @MontoyaMayo  5 років тому +1

      Hi. I have one radius for my half circle skirt, which for this tutorial here and the other radius guide is for my high low maxi circle skirt, which as full circle skirt. You may only need about 3 yards of fabric for a midi skirt using 60" wide fabric. I used about 4 yards for my maxi on 45" wide fabric.
