I see and make quilts, just a couple of quick tricks so your wraps turn out even prettier and look more finished. First of all turn your fabric inside out then see the edges. That way when you finish and flip it right side out you don't see either the seam nor the edge. Another hack is to do the same turn your two fabrics inside out and at any fabric or craft store they sell "liquid stitch" it's basically fabric glue or you can use iron on gen and seam tape. You do the same but first attach the stretchy fabric and the lace, iron them with the hem tape between them (this keeps the edges even. Doing the hem tape would make the time it takes to make one of your adorable wraps even cuter. Btw I have a fairly new stoma and was shopping online for wraps. That's how I came across your video. Duh, I hadn't even thought of making them myself. Thanks for the great idea. Also the "needles" with the ends on them are sewing pins. You can get them in many lengths. And you're right about threading a needle. I use a little gadget to thread mine. My eyesight isn't good enough and it would take longer than the sewing lol

You can go to thrift shops and buy items many times for less than $1 that can be used to make ostomy wraps. This is a mission project I am currently collecting materials for and will start them soon. Men's athletic tops like for coaches, etc. (stay dry material has lots of spandex in them) or old bathing suits are great to use and buy the largest sizes you can find. Many times can make several out of 1 super large shirt. My projects will be to make sizes for all, infants, children, teenagers, any ages.

Thanks for the great idea! Ostomy secrets is out of my size in every lace wrap. And as you said, $40 is a lot. I'm going to go to Joanns and get some fabric and go to town! If you sew it wrong side out, you won't have that seam, but it might be itchy on your skin, so I'll have to try and see. Again, thanks for the great idea!

Very helpful and you are amazing. I buy the wraps because I am older and can afford them but I am going to make one. Very nice.

I got maternity wraps from Walmart. They’re $5.99. They’re one size fits all. They hold everything in.

Great video, will try it on my own later. Did you also make a wrap only with the spandex fabric?

Hello and thank you for this video. My husband who is 65 yo has just had an ostomy and developed CHF during the procedure so is now out of work due to disability. He is very subconscious and I bought 3 of the pouches. Can't afford them so I will be making more for him thanks to your tutorial. His will not be able to be reversed so he will need plenty of wraps.

Hello 69Afrikah, sorry it has taken so long to respond and yes CHF is Congestive Heart Failure. He has what they called Sigmoid Colostomy (I hope I'm saying this correctly) it was a mass caused by diverticulitis blocking off his colon and they had to do emergency surgery which took them 5 -6 hours. Afterwards he develop the CHF or the symptoms presented themselves at that time. It was touch and go for awhile but we're better now. I'm having a difficult time finding lycra/spandex material so I can make wraps for him and I need it to have high spandex content because he developed a hernia as well and because his heart condition they feel it's to risky to reverse the ostomy or fix the hernia.

I looked at the ones at ostomy secrets and the one you were talking about. I looked at the lace ones and was wandering if you knew why they have a line down the middle instead on each side. If you could let me know I wouod appreciate it. I want to order soon, thanks.
You did a great job and nice explanation. :-)

Ya, I have no idea why that is! Probably because they're made by a machine.

I think the line down the middle is to allow room at the sides for the pouch

Great idea but hard to follow with the comera moving all over the place. Do you have a pattern

Cathy Koebel sorry about that, I can remake this video now that I have a filming camera. And no pattern, I just sewed them together from what I imagined in my mind.
