everybody has an opinion, btr builds alot of olds motors and he races hard himself proof-n-pudding,i've never dealt with him, but,he's well respected, his methods are his own's as is everyone elses, dont discount what he does he gets results, you should enjoy the build an take what is useful,he wins races and go's fast, innovators do things differently, what you see as incorrect may suddently be tomorrows great speed trick...
I don't like using silicon sealer on head gaskets myself, if I use anything, it's a light tack coat of permatex copper coat, which I have used before on copper head gaskets. I work on motorcycles, and the air cooled motors tend to get oil seepages with MLS gaskets, although they never blow out or need re-torquing. I've found that people tend do little more than make a mess with silicone sealers!
I get a little concerned by his constant use of a rattle gun ... doesn't even check the thread first faaaark ... My internals I'm doing all by hand with a Snap-On digital torque wrench ...

He's put together more motors that you've looked at. If there is one guy that knows motors its Bill Trovato...look his name up, hes top dog
Amazing build
love how its says *Step 6 - Torquing Heads as he goes back and forth around the bolts with his handy dewalt impact.
@V8BeaterEater You've obviously never seen an MLS head gasket before. It's not bent, the layers are a springlike steel.
I wish Edelbrock made a small block aluminum head that was comparable to the #5 factory head.
I always rotate the engine so which ever head I'm installing is straight up. That eliminates any chance of it falling.
part 6 , to its full completion , needed..

I need rods for 403 olds. Will any other Oldsmobile rods work ????
Bill, what did you use to keep the cam from walking back and forth? Thanks.
What kind of aluminum gm heads can I use 403 Oldsmobile engine
your molly stuff is that just pressure lube???
if that's such a great motor, how come you recently switched to the LS Chevy engine in a late-model Camaro, Bill ??
@FARTNOISE100 i agree with you, but if this guy has won comps and awards, I'd say he's well use to this method
Did you use a torrington bearing or a cam button?
Jim Heiberger Has day
What did you need to do to switch to a roller cam?
This wasn't a switch. It was a 350DX diesel block that had a roller cam from factory.
how much does this kind engine cost?

its not that critical.. first the head is perfectly aligned to block and second the block is not aluminum.. but you have a point :)
Thank you for your knowledge and videos USA 🇺🇸 TRUMP 2024
i would never put bolts in with a drill i'll hand tighten first then torque thats how you mess up bolts and parts
So a Turbo build without Head Studs? Head Bolts? Really!?
