I knew by your 1st reaction before you showed it that it was a snake. I'd have reacted the same way. They creep me out too. As long as they don't crawl up my pant leg lol I think I can deal with and avoid them. I love delphiniums but each time I planted some the rabbits chewed them to the ground so I gave up. I have a clematis that's a Hagley Hybrid Pink Chiffon that is near identical to that one you planted. It's in it's 3rd yr. and blooming like crazy. It will bloom till Fall. Love that lavender rose. And the sounds of those birds. It's the highlight of the woods.

What is with the snakes this year in the garden?? I had a HUGE bull snake almost in the exact spot! I was sitting on my porch with my sweet kitty and he zoned in on something. I thought maybe a bird? I went and looked, and had the same reaction!!! I scooped my fur baby up and went into the house immediately!!! SHIVER!!!!!!! My boss came and moved it for me, thank the Lord.
Good for you, I used to be deathly afraid of snakes ,then I had a nasty neighbor dump dozens in my yard I walked into them with flip flops. Then I started researching and said I love gardening more than I hate snakes. You can deter them in the area you're working in by spraying with water.they run off to stay warm. Face your fears and all is possible.

Honestly, I’ve had the same rake, shovel, and wheelbarrow out since mid-May.. 😆😆 well, it’s because I keep having to use them and they will get put away this week end because my sweet grandson turns 16 on Sunday and he’s the best boy in the whole world AND he lost his father in December so it’s his first birthday without his dad and we are having a huge cookout and bonfire on Sunday to celebrate him. I’ll have to put my garden tools away! 😁😆

Ekkkk! I have copperheads in Missouri. They are so bad here. I’ve taken your approach to leaving space between my plants. Last year I was cleaning up a flower bed and picked up one of those copperheads, thankfully I wasn’t wearing gloves and felt it move in my hand. The conservation told me it was OK for me to do away with him so now I keep a shovel at my front door because two days ago I walked out and there was a baby copperhead on my sidewalk. I am like you and really am I am like you and I am terrified of snakes.
Jes, I love real life gardening. I saw a baby bunny this evening right next to my back patio and my asiatic Lillies are almost in full bloom so I hurried out and put milorganite all around the hostas, the Lillies and the perimeter of all the gardens. Even though our house is right in the village, they still find their way into the yard. And I have 12 different gardens as we have a big lot. So far the milorganite is working. No damage. You are doing a fantastic job on your gardens. They look beautiful !
Jes, I had the same thing happen to me yesterday morning in my front garden at my porch. I had just got through watering some new mini rose bushes sat down on our glider then all of a sudden out crawed a Gardner snake. Oh my gosh chills went through me all over. So believe me I truly understand what you felt. Snakes are creepy 😳. And I hadn't seen a snake here in years. I was shocked 😲 but anyways loved all of what you Planted. So beautiful. What a beautiful climbing rose bush from your Texan friend how sweeeeet 😊. Love the delphiniums I always say I'm going to get me some, then I pick to many of the other plants lol I will get them one day 😊 Max is the cutest kitty he really is love his fur and his eyes❤. I had a cat that was a great mouser and snaker. She loved bringing home the snakes and show them off. We would put them in the leaf pile and she would go get it/them and bring them back to us. She was so proud of herself. Dahlia is beauty!! Very kind Texas lady! 💖💖🎶🎶

Jes I bot a snake tong. It's about 4 ft long it has claws & you can walk up to it & catch it. I then take it to the drain on the road. It about $30 on Ebay. We've gotten rid if 8 snakes

Your delphiniums are the prettiest color of any I've seen. What color are they? I just bought my first delphinium but it's a pale blue, gorgeous, but not a pretty as yours. I love dark dramatic colors.

After turning off the water, if you empty out the hose by spraying the remainder of the water out, it will recoil itself.
