- The RRR fever is not limited to India but gradually taking over the world. We recently had renowned critic Courtney Howard from Variety appreciating the film on Twitter and calling it an invigorating, indelible experience. We invited Courtney for a chat to understand what she loved so much about this film and how the magic of S.S Rajamouli is taking over the west. We also understand Courtney's long time love for Indian Cinema and how it goes back to a certain Dilwale names Shahrukh Khan.

RRR should be dubbed into English, Spanish, French, Chinese,Japanese, Arabic
Watch it in original language! No dub can match it's original feel. Not even the indic dub gave the original feel so forget those foreign dubs. You'll never be able to relate. I personally watched it in Hindi and NTR and Ram Charan themselves dubbed it so it was still watchable!

Rajamouli appealed with 'indian' cinema to be called as a best one in the west unlike Bollywood which wanted to change Indian cinema to western cinema to make it appeal to the west. This is the biggest greatness of rajamouli.

When I started I watched Narcos , sacred games etc. Then breaking bad came in my life then I watched Soprano, the wire etc. My interest was organically growing then came these intellectuals who had no guilty pleasures no bollywood movies in their watchlist. For them it's only should be like Mare of easttown or Godfather otherwise it's all waste. I started searching "perfect movies of all time" 😂😂 . But now I have recovered from it.so thankyou for this
This is a perennial problem within cinephiles. We don't think one needs to dislike RRR to like Breaking Bad or vice versa. These are different universes we are talking about and cannot be compared. As long as the directors justify the tone and driving principles of their own universe, they all can be cheered for.

It's a request please don't use the word mythology for Ramayan and Mahabharat. It is a disrespect to our ancestors. The history which passed on over generations to develop morality in our heart. Request
Overall it was a good interview, but somehow i felt the guy in white shift was little colonized in his approach, calling Ramayana as mythology and then criticising Bahubali for a non-strong women role. Rajamouli films are good because it gives role to everyone as per the script requirement and not vice-versa. Also , i am glad Telugu movies are far away from Bollywood and Hollywood woke virus to give us this kind of movies.

@@indian7885 not necessarily. The excitement for the film among Western media and critics circle is immense. You can check RT for the that and look at the comments from western critics and verified audience. The film also had a return to theatres even after it was available on OTT for a single day event, which is pretty much the first time for an Indian popular film. You can google for encore RRR event.
And to answer your questions, they didn't say anything about the collections, they were saying western liked the movie..Bajrangi bhaijan played on theatres for very long time, where RRR was played in theatres for only 1 or 2 months...and RRR released after the pandemic and in competition with biggies like Batman etc...and apart from all these numbers, RRR as movie is better than Bajrangi Bhaijan..it's not just my opinion, it's opinion of majority of the audience who watched both movies...and you are welcome to say I liked it better than RRR but RRR is not overhyped movie, if anything, it is underrated among western audience..
Indian cinema is still cringe, cheesy and non-sensical, long way to go, Bahubali and RRR such movies cant bring international audiences to theaters like other foreing movies can do. eg. Hong Kong studios, Chinese moves, Korean Movies etc.
I guess you are talking about popular cinema which irrespective of industries is mostly cheesy. It's just that the cultural alliance makes one work for you and not the others. But if you are really interested in looking beyond that, there's a mine of gems waiting for you...most of which won't be available for theatrical release (even selectively in India)

Your claim is just absurd. Half of the scenes in RRR are illogical, the other half are copied. Put some masala and mythology into that and wallah, you got rrr another Overhyped South Indian movie. All of rahamouli movies look unfinished for some reason This is no exception. Please don't embarrass yourself. My entire threatre was laughing at the jail break scene.
You heard what Courtney said (I hope you listened to her) and there's reviews in The Guardian, Rotten Tomatoes and others as well hugely praising the film. Now does that mean you are bound to like it ? Not at all...in fact one out of three in our team do not like the film. But that's your choice, mood and cup of tea. Logic and originality has nothing to do with that. Cinema is not obliged to logic and originality anyway, it never was. Indian cinema has been using lip synced songs for ages for its actors..do you think its logical that a character breaks into a song and there's background music playing ? It's just an old trope that comes from Indian folk, yatra. Realism based narrative isn't the only cinema structure, there's so many more.
