if the US and Brazil win (big if's maybe) the USWNT will finish the tournament having played Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, and Brazil. to quote Alyssa Naher, "we came into this tournament wanting to play 6 games".
agree about Tierna, good to see her back and looking good. Nighswonger is going to take that starting spot imo. Girma, who i like, had a couple of oh sh*t moments, and the more i watch her, as good as everybody says she is, im seeing a tiny crack developing in her defense. the more i watch Albert, the more i like. very glad Colombia got sent home. despise the way they play. good analysis, bring on the Canucks.
If USA midfield plays like the way they did throughout the game, we would be very difficult to beat by anybody in the world. All the USA comments above by the hosts are appropriate. But suffice it to say Colombian players mismanaged this game. Usme should've scored, after a fantastic pass from Caicedo. The whole Colombian midfield was too slow as pointed out also by the Espn Deportes commentators & they were manhandled by USA midfielders. The penalty against them was wishy washy in my opinion & if it was not given & Usme had scored, it would have been a different game. Rodman definitely should have been sent off after a second yellow and again that would be a different game. Plus the back 6 of Colombia after the penalty were not there mentally. Linda Caicedo was fantastic all through the match with excellent passing & dribbling & there is not a USA player who could match up to her. The Colombian players did not pass to her often enough particularly after they were set up by her. The speed with which she caught up to Purse in a scoring position in the second half clearly shows that she is the fastest player on this pitch, possibly the world a la ngolo kante (France) she reminds me of David Robinson in basketball, like a gazelle. My final comment, USA midfield played well, Colombia lost the game because of themselves and lack of adjustment to the USA press. Their best player needs to have many more touches of the ball & Ramirez was missed & would have been a handful for the USA fullbacks.
Ramirez was not called as Colombia is not part of CONCACAF just as it invitational hence FIFA rule is not compulsory for Chelsea to release her. She scored a wonderful goal yesterday her first WSL goal.
1 point I missed, the Colombian defense had a difficult time managing the high ball in the box & it was really pleasing to watch USA play counterattack with the rapid ball to their fast forwards. The Colombians were too slow to handle that. They need to go back to the drawing board to manage future campaigns, otherwise I'm afraid that a sensational player like Linda Caicedo will be valiantly fighting alone
Update, the entire US team took Monday off and they are all seeing therapists to help them manage their fears of Canada. Horan, Morgan, even Rodman were clutching their teddy bears in the locker room bawling and screaming "We have to play Canada next! We're doom". Emma Hayes told them that she has no plan to counter Canada and that the team should just try something, anything and hopefully the lost won't be so lopsided.
@@dennisnguyen8105 Child, it's obvious you know nothing about women's soccer. Women play with passion and anger, and maybe cry. But, they absolutely play with no fear. All women.
You two are great. Love the tactical analysis, player comments and snark

Canada is going to spank your USWNT on wednesday.
As an American, we are terrified of you Canadians. I know the USWNT are petrified playing Canada.
