- I just went thru the entire tape deck and did the following;
*Mechanics Completely dis-assembled, Cleaned, and Re-Lubricated with White Electrical Grade Lithium Grease.
*Motors Lubricated with Synthetic Oil.
*REEL LOCKS, Springs Replaced so Reels Stay on Tight.
*Counter Belt Replaced.
*Servo Transistor for Capstan Motor Replaced.
*All Pots AND Switches were Cleaned with De-Oxit D5 Cleaner, then after a 12 hour dry, Lubricated with De-Oxit Fader Lube for Clean and Quiet Operation.
*FRONT PUSH BUTTON PANEL ARE WORKING AS THEY SHOULD 100%.Feather Touch and work Like NEW.
*Fault Prone Transistors on Pre-Amp Board were replaced, All 20 on this machine.
*MRL Calibration Tape used on this deck and levels were set for Recording and Playback.
*Speed for 3 3/4 as well as 7 1/2 has been set with MRL Tape per Service Manual .
*Speed is accurate on this deck.
*Entire Tape Path Cleaned.
*Heads Demagnified.

My AKAI reel to reel has Dolby on it. I only use it when I have to record from an LP which has a high "HISS" except that I never use it. When you make a very good full sound recording, even if you are recording from an LP that has a little "HISS", that hiss will not come out in the recording because you made a high output recording. Try it. Thank You.

the reel to reel of the right is a rebox??
No it is a 1966 Akai X-300. Very early 10.5 inch reel model. Has big piano key buttons. Has a face if you look at it long enough. =)
