I have been binge watching your videos all week, and you have made me decide to hike the PCT! I feel so called to do it after watching your journey. I cannot do it until 2026, but it looks so fun and rewarding. I am already extremely excited. Thank you for inspiring my next big dream.
Thank you for bringing us along. You are doing great. Regarding your river fords and socks: I like to remove my socks and insoles, then ford with shoes only, then put socks and insoles back in the wet shoes. By minimizing the degree of moisture in the socks, you increase the chance of them drying, either in you shoes as you hike them dry, or on your sleeping bag at night. If you are expecting icy water and long fords, some ankle high neoprene socks is nice fording option.
congrats another huge milestone. My evening starts with checking your posts. Two huge milestones down Whitney and forest pass...... nothing can stop you now!!!!!!!
Have been following you and two others along the PCT since day 1. Darwin, and Never Have I, along with Dixie of course on the CDT. It looks like you and never have I, are in the same neck of the woods. It would be fun if you two meet up to do a shared VLOG. I look forward to every post. Thanks for sharing!
Whimsie..... beautiful photography. Incredible adventure!! Thanks so much for sharing and taking us along with you. Love your smile and delightful laugh..... not to mention your courage and will. Praying for you..... have fun.... Ax
This little video and the next one are the quintessential Sierras...there are no words, just go see for yourself. Anyone looking for a bite sized trail experience (one week vacation) would do well to hike from Cottonwood Pass to Kearsarge Pass, or the Rae Lakes Loop (can’t wait for that next post!) I did Rae Lakes from the west (start low in Kings Canyon) but starting high out of Onion Valley would do nicely. Well done, keep going🙂
Congrats Jen, Forester Pass is no small feat. I have done it twice but from Kearsarge Pass downward. Less snow when I did it. It is a scary trek thru that part of the cliff. Keep it up, with your sense of humor and attitude, you will no doubt film the whole trail smiling and laughing!!
First time I went over Forester pass it was all covered in snow and it was easier than when I went over it without the snow. We did the same thing, we didn't think that notch was the pass, luckily one guy in our party had been there before. If you have the proper equipment snow isn't a huge obstacle and sometimes saves the up and down plus switchbacks and as you noticed you can slide down the mountain. lol
Honestly, Jen, you are making mereally jealous having all that beautiful scenery all around you, what a fantastic thing you are doing, creating memories that will last a lifetime. That slide looked fun, I've seen it on other peoples videos before.
Thank you for sharing these videos of the awesomely beautiful and majestic Sierras!!! You are doing great and I love your positive attitude and excitement:) I've heard about Forrester Pass and now I have a visual clue about it. I'll add it to my list of places to go. I hope you found out how to sleep warmer in the high country. Another clothing layer, sleeping bag liner, or another bag??? Hike on!!!
You had less snow than i had in '04. It made the decent a little easier, until the slope down to the lake :-P I crossed on June 16 that year. As someone else said, sometimes the snow makes it easier getting down :-) I assume you didn't make it over Kearsarge as it was looking late as you were climbing out of Bubbs Creek. The view up towards Center Basin and Forrester from that slope is one of my favorites.
They told us in the Boy Scouts if you eat peanuts it comes out through your skin and the mosquitoes will bite less. Great job on that one awesome scenery at 4:00 looks like the land before time.
There was a 4.? Earthquake recently..another UA-camr on the PCT mentioned it waking her up. No clue of the timeline difference between you two. Anyways just thought I would share 😀 ✌ 👣 👑 👑 Outstanding hiking through Forrester.. Thanks for sharing your video journaling.
Ah, no footage of you glissading? haha a pity! but good that you made it in one piece =) by the way, it's a breath of fresh air to see you celebrating and getting excited about the "little victories" on the trail, such as crossing a stream via log or a snow patch on the mountain. You rock! Keep seizing the moments. Cheers
Hey Jennifer! My husband and I have been watching you for a few months now. You are one Brave young lady! So proud of you! I was wondering do you ever get afraid that the trail seems to disappear and you're not sure which way it goes? And that you might get lost off the trail somehow? All our best. Shelley and Hugo
Another amazing video Dixie,, it's good to see you are doing well. Beautiful area ,awesome scenery along with wildlife for Dixie to sing to... loose rocks are the norm for the high peaks side trails, but easily do-able with a little caution..your thoughts and insights are always interesting to hear.....Will you be residing in Colo. after the trail? So much more to see and experience ,,lots of trails and history that is fascinating to explore..Until next vid....Stay Safe and God Bless....
Hello Starburst, you are making fine progress young lady. Ask your fellow hiking friends if they use tea tree oil or lavender oil to deter mosquitoes. Please take good care of yourself out there.
Congrats. It didn’t look so bad when you went through. Your videos include things others didn’t capture. What kind of sleeping bag were you using? Sounds like you were cold a lot. Such a bummer. Did you have a bag liner? But you are still smiling and having a great time.
Russel in the Bush is trying to reach the Or/Wa border by 8-9 so he can go to his 40 year high school reunion on Lake Union. So when you reach Snoqualmie Pass will you go west 45 miles to you condo and take a 0 or two??? No hitching, lots of friends in Seattle would love to pick you up.
Fun, adventure, treacherous trails, glorious sites, malicious mosquitoes, wow are you sure you rather do this than go to the Library? LOL be safe another great video.
Yeah, Forester Pass, AKA "the buttmaster". Then the nice hike down to Vidette.... But WAIT!!! Glen Pass you say? Personally, I thought Glen was worse than Forester.... but the view from Forester was just awesome. Well Starburst, that's one big checkmark on your PCT been there map!

Dude! You are a freaking BEAST!! Way to go, girl!! Have you had to deal with any ticks getting on you so far?
When i did the JMT we heard a couple rockslides near Forester as well.
I love that sunscreen!! What kind again??
Not so much beer, not like the desert. Need some angels in Sierra : )
Did you slide down the snow too? It looked like it would have been fun. Such pretty terrain and views. Thanks for another great video Starburst!

Hi Jen, when you did the PCT did you think any parts were particularly 'sketchy' when it comes to heights? Forester Pass for example?
Russel in the Bush is trying to reach the Or/Wa border by 8-9 so he can go to his 40 year high school reunion on Lake Union. So when you reach Snoqualmie Pass will you go west 45 miles to you condo and take a 0 or two??? No hitching, lots of friends in Seattle would love to pick you up.

Swimming in ice water? Nah, I'd just stay dirty. ;o)
MOST AWESOME!
way too cool another pass done.
Are any of your hiker buds UA-camrs as well? If so can you share some of their channels?
What happen to her cheek. I missed the explanation.
Really enjoyed this video! You seem to be very much at home with what you are doing and are "real" or unorchestrated? Hope that comes thru. Blessings
What happened to your cheak
amazing
Yep!
I wish UA-cam had a 'love' feature instead of just a thumbs up!
👍🏼🙂✨
why is your mole so angry looking?
Watch out where the huskies go don't you eat any yellow or PINK snow !
