wonderful days, when kids were kids, and played out, and were a little nieve, no computer games, moms where always there, and dad went to work all day, also mom put dinner on the table when dad got home, and we had a lovely meal together , life was a little more simple., i was born in 1964, i think my childhood was better than nowdays , and the kids tv too..x
Ah this is a nice episode. Midge had quite the adventure. I was born in '65. And am in a nostalgic mood and I've been watching my childhood tv programmes on YT. In this one I noticed the stamps on the envelopes with the Queen's head on it. They had that style stamp for years, just different colours and prices. Is funny to see the one airmail envelope with the USA address on it. In the sorting room at the post office. As I'm English and born and grew up in England and watched these programmes but I now live in the USA. For several years now. Thanks for the upload of this lovely programme.
This is so beautiful it's brought a tear to my eye. That sense of adventure and wonderment children have about a world they can't wait to explore is magical. It also reminded me of going to see my own grandma in her country village. That was in Kent, not Perthshire (great detail with letters and sorting shelves) but was just as special an occasion!
beautiful cartoons. i was 5 years old at the time and would watch these in the lunch hour before being taken back to school by my Aunt Gladys. Oh, and I was able to squeeze in Parsley the Lion in The Herbs just as the garden gate closed on him. Isn't that a soothing, comforting harmonious voice Mary has? So motherly, and safe?
Richard Baker's voice was So wonderful, and So Perfect for this programme, i fell in love with him when I was a little girl through & due to this gorgeous show
Nice being able to watch Mary, Mungo & Midge again for the first time in 55 years!!. Also the first time seeing it in colour since we only had a black and white telly at the time...
Yep - life was so much better in those days. Kids programs taught something in addition to being entertaining. Mary Mungo and Midge was one of my favourites.
This was a perfect example of a children's programme to capture their imagination completely. It did mine when I was 'wee' and at 48 I can still sit here watching this being enthralled by its beauty.
This was without doubt my favourite episode of MM&M, and is one of my earliest TV memories. I was a very curious child (read that as you will) and totally identified with young midge. The train journey was utterly thrilling, so much so that even now, I'm almost overwhelmed.
It's amazing how something so simple and everyday can be so absorbing and entertaining, too. It just shows how cutting edge technology can't outdo good stories or charm!
This was my favourite episode too. I love Richard Baker's narration and the way that they didn't dumb things down, but used "long" words like inquisitive. Brilliant telly.
Programmes were very observational back then always teaching you the basics about life.I think that is why our generation grew up to be very independent and loving work etc..Great times and great education as well as great fun ❤❤❤❤
This episode always stuck in my mind too. I can't have seen this since about 1969. I remember being very excited about Mungo and Midge getting in the lift.
It’s sad to say that I can think of several reasons why this would never be allowed to be made today. My generation had it best. Innocence is worth hanging on to.
Ahh the late 60s when it was still cool to live in a tower block and the lifts worked , no graffiti no tramps no pools of pizz and Mary didn't carry a poop scoop
This came out when I was 5. Just brilliant. I've been taken right back to that happy, simple time. I always wondered about the stairs. To get to the roof I assume.
love cartoons and children's programs from mine and my brothers childhood so simple and it loved the stories , Micheal bentins potty time was a firm fav with me
I watched this as a young kid. I have fond memories of it. I especially remember "Do you live in a town?". I am surprised at how fucked up the eyes of Mary and Midge are.
Damn, this is good. I’m a 2010s kid in Australia but the 70s and 00s British kids TV (thanks parents) are absolute S tier. Would recommend today. All we’ve got nowadays is Bluey for really good kids animation. Absolute slop otherwise:writing quality is abysmal and someone’s always trying to make a quick buck. But instead of making good stuff, people complain about “wokeness” instead of the fact that it’s pure, unadulterated brainrot. As if removing gay characters is gonna make it any less brainrot.
Typical, a council high rise with a mouse infestation. Oh yeh , does anyone remember the toy behind the truck leaning against the beach ball at the start . MY sister had one but i don't think you can get them these days.Happy days..
I watched this in b&w in the 70s. Must have been repeated a lot, think there was only 13 episodes made, like Bagpuss. Classic series, but this one is the very best imo.
absolutely loved mary mungo and midge the best days of my life when kids programmes were great😅thanks for the memories
I loved watching this as a child back in the day.Happy Days.

@TheRenaissanceman65 Not much by the look of it !
I'm 58; this was my early 1970's.❤
So archetypal English. So innocent. Wish my kids lived in this era. 😢
Ah this is a nice episode. Midge had quite the adventure.

Born in ‘65 too, just watched this episode amazing how basic simple and child friendly the whole story is...brought me back a few decades!
We still have those stamps - they are being replaced now by the king, and he faces the opposite direction for some reason.

Brings back so many happy, innocent memories of my childhood. I used to watch this all the time.
me too, what a great find on youtube
Yes me too. Born in 1967. 60's and 70's children's programmes were the best!
Me too, I remember this one
I was born in 68 this is the first thing I remember really great UA-cam!
Richard Baker's voice was So wonderful, and So Perfect for this programme, i fell in love with him when I was a little girl through & due to this gorgeous show
I wish I could go back to the 1970’s
Me too
The music - bloody hell, I'm five again.
Nice being able to watch Mary, Mungo & Midge again for the first time in 55 years!!. Also the first time seeing it in colour since we only had a black and white telly at the time...
Loved this as a kid and bought it from Amazon on dvd for my own daughter, she thinks its great.
I'm 57 years old now and can still watch these programmes like I am a kid again. Haha, at 10 years old, I was even too old then for the shows. Haha.
I don't think Anyone's too old for this magic.
My childhood memories, loved it! 💙☀️
I watched this as a child, loved it so much, and actually learned something from it, also my Mams name was Mary, so that was special.
Me too , loved it then, love it now
Yep - life was so much better in those days. Kids programs taught something in addition to being entertaining. Mary Mungo and Midge was one of my favourites.
Could never understand how they had a nice sunny room to play in and I dident lol
A delight to watch a far cry from the ins ane rubbish children are fed today.
This was a perfect example of a children's programme to capture their imagination completely. It did mine when I was 'wee' and at 48 I can still sit here watching this being enthralled by its beauty.
One of my favourites as a child growing up in the 70s. Thanks so much for this ❤️
I just LOVE the music at the end of each episode!!!!!
'Silly Mouse'! I love the fact that Midge thought that the postman reminded him of Mungo!❤
Such innocence and loved memories from the past when life was a lot less hateful. Would love to be back in those days. Thank you 😊
This was without doubt my favourite episode of MM&M, and is one of my earliest TV memories. I was a very curious child (read that as you will) and totally identified with young midge. The train journey was utterly thrilling, so much so that even now, I'm almost overwhelmed.
Beautiful. I recognise Richard Bakers voice. The music, everything, amazing
It's amazing how something so simple and everyday can be so absorbing and entertaining, too. It just shows how cutting edge technology can't outdo good stories or charm!
Absolutely loved this growing up 😊
This was my favourite episode too. I love Richard Baker's narration and the way that they didn't dumb things down, but used "long" words like inquisitive. Brilliant telly.
Mrs Spanner 14 "Mum, what's 'Inquisitive'?"
Yes, Totally, Never talked down to the children, gorgeous.
Loved this as a kid
I loved this as a kid, still do, and other kids shows of this era.
Brings back very happy childhood memories. Thank you.
Programmes were very observational back then always teaching you the basics about life.I think that is why our generation grew up to be very independent and loving work etc..Great times and great education as well as great fun ❤❤❤❤
I watched this circa 1971 after playgroup.
I absolutely loved this with the lovely Richard Baker narrator i met him many times in Ealing with my Grandad in the 70s
This episode always stuck in my mind too. I can't have seen this since about 1969. I remember being very excited about Mungo and Midge getting in the lift.
Probley cos they kept showing the same one like Mr ben
RIP the "voice" Of Mary, Mungo & Midge, Richard Baker
Lovely man
Indeed, but I’m sure he’s not playing Mary😬
BRILLIANT. ❤❤❤❤❤
These were the best programs for kids! Bring them back to our screens.
I love when videos are old it brings back memories 😊😊😊😢😢😢

Holy ****!!! THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS!!! =D
Loved this when I was little. Was talking about this earlier today with my daughter!
I was only about 6 i loved this .makes me sad ..so cute
It’s sad to say that I can think of several reasons why this would never be allowed to be made today. My generation had it best. Innocence is worth hanging on to.
"He's a wise old dog. So old and wise he can usually help Mary with whatever she's doing". A description that fits Mungo perfectly! :-).
It was great I used to watch it at school and drink my bottle of milk 😂
innocent times i wish i could go back
Loved this when I was little, never realised Mary was quite so middle class ...a toy room !!! 😂
Janet Robb Must be a very posh flat to have a toy room!
Oops about 2:43 Mary has a racially inappropriate stuffed toy - wise Mungo you forget to tell her
Me too , miss those days
@@janettetazare2281 its only inappropriate because people have told us it is ! We played with Gollys , and it was all very innocent .
Ahh the late 60s when it was still cool to live in a tower block and the lifts worked , no graffiti no tramps no pools of pizz and Mary didn't carry a poop scoop
Very true. We have made a bit of a mess of our town and city centres in recent years.
Man, if only I could experience it.
😅. All true
Loved this as a child in the 70’s
Priceless memories
I used to watch this too. You always remember the good times.
I love this too, great memories of the past.
This came out when I was 5. Just brilliant. I've been taken right back to that happy, simple time. I always wondered about the stairs. To get to the roof I assume.
I saw Richard Baker a few years ago, in the 90s.. wanted to thank him for this but felt an idiot doing so, oh well
The first thing l remember watching was only three, loved it
Oooh the memories takes me right back to my 5 year old self. Loved this.
Probably the most visually appealing episode due to how many different locations Midge visits.
If only pers could interact and were as useful as this.
My favourite when little ❤💯
who else got antsy about how midge would get home?
wonderful.im five years old again.heaven in 2-d (proper)animation.
I love the art style
Me too, would love to know if such a style has a name. I adored this programme as a child!

A children's classic right bang from my era (at least the rpts were in my era) Narrated by News Reader Richard Baker.
This programme was.probably made in the late 60s or early 70s but I enjoyed watching these on you tube
Yes the series was made in 1969 (I google'd it).
I watched this as a young kid. I have fond memories of it. I especially remember "Do you live in a town?".

Best days my life.. 57 now time go fast
I only got to see it if I was off school with a tummy bug
am 52, it doesnt get any better.
I used to like that program in about 1970! Simple but beautiful children's TV. 2nd only to Bagpuss.
Typical, a council high rise with a mouse infestation. Oh yeh , does anyone remember the toy behind the truck leaning against the beach ball at the start . MY sister had one but i don't think you can get them these days.Happy days..
Know actually what you me!!!!!. Bless 🙌
