- This fly is really simple and easy to tie. Beginner tiers will have no problem tying these, and seasoned tiers can tie 20+ of these in an hour. It is a great fly for fishing streams and rivers for trout, and also would work for crappie, bass and other lake fish. This even could work for some smaller saltwater species when using a saltwater approved hook.

The vice I am using is an Anvil Atlas. Its a full rotary vice, made solid like a tank. And its very reasonably priced. You can get it here if you want one. amzn.to/2q4LaKa
Oh, I love Fly Tier's Dungeon stuff!
Can’t beat their prices!
I got into fly fishing because of your channel!
+Niel Tveten hey that's awesome to hear, thank you!
+Niel Tveten please send me some pics of your catches on Facebook. McFly Tier is my handle.
Fantastic fly, coming from salt water fly trout are still a foreign arena for me but I tied this little streamer in olive with a tungsten bead instead of eyes and caught my first rainbow on it (along with a couple more) out caught a Woolley bugger. Keep up the great videos this one helped me bag my first rainbow 👍👍👍
Thanks, good luck out there
Great demo, I love the wet look finish!
+All Tied Up Fly Tying School yeah I always think flies look better wet as well.
Nice little streamer, thanks for posting it.
+Piscator Flies no problem man thank you for watching
great pattern it can be changed up in color to make a crappie or walleye fly as well thanks for sharing !
+mullz1 yes it can be for sure! Thanks!
Now Thats a Good looking Fly ,,,McFly!
Thanks!
Great pattern. Thanks. I've been using snowshoe hair from the toes of a snowshoe (white). I'm hoping if will serve as a better floating material than the calf tail hair. Time will tell.
Thank you! So I think both aren’t really great as floating material, hate to say it...
The best part of this video was seeing this fly scamper across that aquarium among real fish. Hahahaha.
Haha thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Just Subscribed love the great instructions and testing in the tank 😂
Thank you. I don’t do the testing In a tank anymore because I don’t have a fish tank anymore but, I just got one of those fly testers so, soon might start that back up.
Simple fly that will catch fish! My kind of fly!
Thanks Ernie
Thanks! HAHA Yeah thats my kinda fly as well. While I use the flies that take a half hour to tie, I usually have more of these type of flies on hand because I can make 10-20 in just an hour. I don't like loosing flies that take so long to tie.
Im planning on tying one of em in pink yesterday i was at a stocked pond and a rainbow was right up to me so i didnt have to cast just drop the fly down there and i dropped a pink icelandic dog nobbler and it went insane and i got a follow everytime but im sure this will work much better beacause its smaller
Yeah small flies are more often taken. If they were stocked rainbow, try a San Juan worm or egg pattern off the back. Sometimes when they follow you can just stop the swimming if they seem not interested and they will go for the falling worm/egg.
@@McFlyAngler yeah but i lived in iceland and was kind of forced to move to andlucia spain(beacause im just 11 yrs old) and i just left all my fly tying stuff so im just kind of ordering from amazon and temu
good stuff 👍
+Rodolfo Arechiga thanks
Very cool. 👍
Thanks Abe!
Here in oklahoma trout rivers are +2 hours away from me. I keep watching your videos and now i really want to fly fish in rivers ;(
HAHA, thanks! Yeah I know the feeling. I moved out here away from any ocean, and now I watch people fly fish saltwater and I miss it. Gotta watch out in OK for snakes in the river right? I think you guys have water moccasin's there. Well I know they were in TX when I lived there.
I'm almost to the point of giving the fly tying thing a shot even with my darn near blind peepers and gnarled up fingers. Almost but not yet. Got an idea. Try this one out at Trophy Pond.
LOL I actually did, but it doesn't work too well there. Its a small fly, and its not weighted. I need to get really deep there (at least right now). I went yesterday to that pond again but broke my rod after catching just one fish. It was a 18-19" brown though, so a decent day. Just sad about my broken rod. :( Luckily it was my Sage, and Sage offers a lifetime guaranty no questions asked.
Saw your "tying room" video and now this one. You must have used the new camera you spoke of. Very nice!
Yes it is the new camera. Its not mine, so I will have to give it back soon. But my next few ties will be with this camera. Do you notice the better quality?
McFly Angler definitely!
Ok so I think (when I can save up a bit of money) get this camera. I think I want the 4K version though which is about $300 more. Also I would have to buy a few lenses as well. I think all together it would be around $2200 for the 2 lenses I would need and this camera. So I have quite a few months of youtube earnings to save this up. Hopefully I get a few video's to take off big so I can get it sooner. Please help me by sharing my video's with all your friends. :)
Will do!
Thanks! :)
Very interesting fly...it sinks very well without use lead...due it to the resin head?
Yes a resin head will help it sink. None of the materials are buoyant and your tying with a metal hook so it will sink.
Can you tie these in size 14 16 or 18
Might be tough at super small sizes as the materials used will want to be tied in longer. You might loose movement.
We’re do you get a metal applicator like that for your resin
They used to sell them, now they have fine tip plastic ones I believe. The plastic will work just fine
Can you use small dumbbell eyes if you don't have regular eyes?
Sure, just it will weight down the fly, keep that in mind
Or was it just better lighting? This video seems to pop a little more than the others. Now I'm confused
Nope, different camera. I need to get better lights soon as well though.
Got any good streamer flies for still water brown and rainbows
Tons man, I’ve tied maybe 300 different flies on my channel. Look through. See if there is anything else you like. Glad you liked this one. I have a playlist with tons of flies called “baitfish streamers” on my site. Go check it out.
Are the eyes important?
Sorta... fish sometimes use eyes to know where the head is on a prey. But many streamers don’t have them also so, yes and no.
You don't use any weight?
Not on this one...
👏👏👏👏🍻
Thank you!
I'm not too good with the icon thingies. Are those pairs of hands clapping, or five frogs - with the last one reading a newspaper?
I think its hands clapping, and then a pair of beers. So I had taken that as "good job, cheers". But yeah, I'm not too good with the icon things either.
Fernando, was I correct in my thought on this?
