Thank you @Вадим Гусев for pointing out the problem & solution in the original video.
Its important to adjust the magnet gap for smooth operation of the iDrive controller. The two sets of magnets (top & bottom) should NOT touch each. There needs to be a 1mm gap between the top & bottom magnets. To achieve this;
1. pre-screw the four screens into the small black retaining plastic part.
2. Let the screws extend 3-4mm out before attaching the retaining plastic part to the controller housing.
3. Screw down an additional 2-3mm (3/4 turns each) to secure the pieces together.
4. Testing operation & manually tightened each screw until the Up/Down & Left/Right action felt and sounded correct.
There should be a noticeable dull but smooth click sound. It should not sound like plastic crack or popping. Mine did not feel fully consistent between every direction, but the controller does work and function smoothly.
This was a HUGE help! Thanks!!

I screwed them in all the way and did 4 full turns back. That gave me a good feel on the controller. Magnets dont touch
