    Damn this bring me back. Born and raised in Carol City. Left south Florida over 30 years ago, but there ain’t nothing like how my people used to cook. We did pork souse growing up, but I think I’m going to give this a go.

      Yes, made with gelatin and pork products and sliced. They have the sliced one in Florida, too. This, to me is like a chicken stew.

      Makes me wonder why they share the same name? If you put this dish in the refrigerator for leftovers, does it gel up?
      My homemade chicken stock gets jellied in the fridge.

      Souse has a vinegary/lemon and spicy taste whereas chicken soup has more of a broth type flavor. 😊

      Yes it's supposed to be tangy! The difference is souse has a lemon, lime, and vinegar stock.

    I’ve been going through all the chicken souse recipes on UA-cam trying to find the tastiest and easiest one to try and make
    ☝🏾 This is the one 😊❤️. Hope it turns out ok. Never had it but in my mind I think I know how it’s supposed to taste 😅

      Awe thank you I try to make my videos easy for everyone to follow and understand. Remember it’s all about the taste so once the chicken is fully cooked you can start tasting the souse At which point you can add more vinegar, lemon juice and/or seasoning. The key is to get that vinegar and spicy kick . Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching 😊

      In South Florida, we’ve been eating souse for generations. Caribbean cuisine has a major influence on South Florida cuisine.
