Makes me wonder why they share the same name? If you put this dish in the refrigerator for leftovers, does it gel up? My homemade chicken stock gets jellied in the fridge.

Awe thank you I try to make my videos easy for everyone to follow and understand. Remember it’s all about the taste so once the chicken is fully cooked you can start tasting the souse At which point you can add more vinegar, lemon juice and/or seasoning. The key is to get that vinegar and spicy kick . Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching 😊
You’re absolutely right and That’s one of the things I love about Miami..the cuisine here is the best from Cuban food to Haitian food it’s limitless but yea we have always made chicken souse as well as pork souse

Very interesting dish, looks great. In my area (central PA) souse is meat that is set up in aspic.
Hello Pennsylvania 👋🏽
Yes, made with gelatin and pork products and sliced. They have the sliced one in Florida, too. This, to me is like a chicken stew.
Makes me wonder why they share the same name? If you put this dish in the refrigerator for leftovers, does it gel up?
My homemade chicken stock gets jellied in the fridge.
Same. In CA we call it hog head cheese or souse but when I moved to FL found out about this and it is banging...

Is souse like chicken soup somewhat? What's the difference? they look similar.
Souse has a vinegary/lemon and spicy taste whereas chicken soup has more of a broth type flavor. 😊

The white vinegar is the same as white vine vinegar or no?
How big do you have the stove on while the chicken souse is cooking?
Hello 👋🏽 Medium high
So this is supposed to tangy? I gotta recreate this for my daughter…but I’ve never tasted it. Also is that the difference between souse and soup?
Yes it's supposed to be tangy! The difference is souse has a lemon, lime, and vinegar stock.
@@sabrinaphipps6616 Thank you sooo much!!!! I got this!
Every country has their own version of souse. That more like soup in my country. Souse in my country is used with geletin
