I am an Autistic male but I still really appreciate you sharing your favorite clothes! ❤
I recently had a meltdown after my ex suddenly told me I “needed” to start dressing more fashionable when out in public with her.
I tried to explain my self care needs, especially after an intense work week, and she completely dismissed what I was saying, like I was a child who didn’t know better 😢
Thanks 🙏 for helping me to feel sane and that my needs are valid.
    Your channel is awesome ❤

My two "styles" are either SKIN TIGHT stretchy clothing - athletic wear as an example - that's soft and has minimal texture, or loose skirts/dresses with a binder or comfortable bra underneath.
Honestly I wish I just didn't have boobs. Most of my overstimulation early in the day revolves around me being able to feel my skin touching my skin, and my breasts are big so the underboob area is literal hell.

All of my clothes are either Silk or Rayon. Silk is the best fabric in every way for everything. It's so soft and breathes so well, but it's very expensive, and it's hard to find and to care for. It always says dry clean only, but I hand wash it with very mild soap like Woollite in cool water, and I rinse it with a strong mixture of hair conditioner in the water. I leave that in and air dry it without wringing it out. It's a LOT of work.
Rayon is a natural fabric made from the bark of some kind of tree. It's VERY easy to care for, very comfortable, and very cheap. I try to have all of my shirts, dresses, shorts and pants in Rayon. I love it! It's lightweight, and in hot weather Rayon is cool. It dries really fast too after washing, and it never smells. It's almost perfect. It's light weight and it breathes really well. I never iron it.
I just take the Rayon clothes from the washer and instead of putting in the drier, I hang them up. If I have access to a drier in the kitchen or very nearby, I might put them in the drier for a short time, and then hang them before they are 100% dry. But if I avoid the drier they last forever. Using the drier will wear out all your clothes really fast. And it will cause synthetics to be filled with static.
I like synthetics in winter, but not in summer. They are easy care, but in summer they feel very hot to wear.
Cotton is bad in every way! It stinks and it takes forever to dry! In summer or in winter, you sweat like mad in it, then it stays wet, so it stinks a lot! It's hot as hell in summer, and cold as hell in winter, with no insulating value at all. I have not got a single item in cotton. I refuse to have any, except of course some jeans, but never a shirt, dress, shorts, other pants, sweater or jacket. No way! And it wrinkles really easily. It usually needs ironing too. It's an awful choice.
You need to be able to forget all about your clothes. If you are forced to think about your clothes it takes your attention away from what you want to do. If pressure clothing helps you, that's great, but still avoid cotton, because it's horrible stuff. It's also often very stiff and itchy.
Wool is the best thing for socks. Cotton makes horrible socks! They stink and cotton also stains incredibly easily! So white cotton socks are the worst socks there are in existence. Get dark blue wool socks that look like blue jean material. It hides dirt, and your feet never feel wet and sweaty in them like they do in cotton. Even if it's only a wool/synthetic blend, it's better than cotton. Not heavy wool winter type socks. Get dark blue, finely woven, wool blend socks. Even if they cost more it will be worth it, because they outlast white cotton socks by 10 times or more!
Wool is itchy as heck for skirts, pants, or shirts. Even Cashmere Wool is awful on the skin. That is, unless you buy GENUINE PASHMINA wool from India or Pakistan. But that costs a fortune because it's extremely rare! And it's just not worth it. I'm talking about many thousands of dollars.
But all wool is very warm in winter, so cardigan type sweaters or scarfs made of wool are great, as long as it doesn't touch your skin. Even wool that feels ok to your fingers will drive you NUTS if it touches your arms, legs, back, chest, etc! It's unbelievably itchy and scratchy! Be sure you always have another layer of fabric in between the wool and your skin. Or avoid wool completely except for your socks. The socks won't feel itchy or scratchy if they are a blend of finely woven fibres.

With me, it's the other way around when it comes to wool: I just love garments in wool, especially Merino wool. I have sweaters, polo's and t-shirts. It's temperature-regulating and very soft. I go for a "hugging" size, not too loose and not too tight, as it's extremely relaxing.

We have very opposite feelings about cotton! Cotton makes up most of my wardrobe. I have zero synthetic fibers in my wardrobe. I love cotton lol

What are some affordable brands that use Rayon fabric? I'm autistic as well and it's so hard to find fabric that I like that is affordable, perfect for autistic people, perfect for plus size people, and that are in my style.
For me, my preferred texture in clothing is something lightweight and something that is flexible and doesn't heat up so easily. My preferred style is the kawaii/soft/pastel goth/or comfy wear.
I also prefer to wear dresses, skirts, and tank tops/short sleeves(in spring/summer specifically)

That's amazing! If you're really passionate about it, go for it :)
What kind of style of clothing would you make? I'm quite curious.
Whenever I'm older I want to make my own bakery and Cafe. It's supposed to have that kawaii/soft aesthetic, and I would call it KawaiiBee's.
Whenever I first start out I will have two sections: One section would be where the baked goods and cafe stuff would be and the other section would be where the savory section is at. Further down the road when I earn enough to expand it, I would like to add a small gift shop area and an ice cream section. And lastly, I would like to have a small shelving section where homemade candies would be sold.

I have autism and for some reason people are surprised to find it out because I'm so much different from my peers. Especially how I dress differently from most of my friends, I'm literally the only girl in my school who exclusively wears skirts and dresses. I'm definitely a girly girl but I'm not an over the top girly girl. I wear long flowy skirts (like people wear at the beach) with midriff halter tops and tank tops, or a sleeveless dress. I don't like sleeves for some reason, but I love upper arm bands and bracelets. I love jewelry and am kind of obsessed with it. One of my dresses has jingle bells attached to it, I wear it at home but not out because people complain about the noise. I am extremely cold tolerant so I can dress like this in subzero temperatures (I add a scarf in the winter, I love wearing a scarf because scarves are so cute and I love how warm and comforting they feel wrapped around my neck). If it gets excessively cold, then I wear a coat. I usually wear ballet flats but if it's too cold in the winter I wear these Ugg boots. I wonder if it's another autistic trait that I buy clothes 90% in my favorite colors. I often go two weeks at a time without changing my clothes in the winter. But in the summer I changed them twice a week on average. Wow, I wrote a lot. Anyways, thank you for the video!

@@jmaessen3531 Thank you! 💙 Speaking of clothing, it's amazing how life events can change our style. My grandma won't live for much longer (I don't know just how long) and I've been very sad lately and wearing black a lot lately. I bought this dress that looks like something a pilgrim lady would have worn 400 years ago (except the skirt is knee-length). I always liked sleeveless until trying this long-sleeved dress, then I'm like "I changed my mind". Anyways, I'm so happy that my writing has been a helpful experience for you!
EDIT: Adding to this an update, I went back to wearing blues, reds, and purples again after a month.

I live in flowy modal fabric shirts… I must have twenty of them in different colors in two sleeve lengths. They are pretty much all I wear. I’ve got long sleeve cardigan style tops in the same braid to wear over top in the winter. I struggle the most with bras (bralettes with no seams), but even they can be too much. I wear super soft T-shirts and oversized, soft cotton pj pants around the house. I have two pairs of shoes I wear, even though I have a closet full of options for shoes and clothes. I call what I wear my uniforms.

Im autistic and its very hard for me to find clothes that I like.
Im autistic yes, but Im also on the bigger side and we(as in me and my mom) can't afford a lot so finding certain clothes are hard especially for me.
I personally love very soft and loose clothing, such as cotton or something like that. Im also a female, and every female thing tends to feel so uncomfortable for me. Wearing bras are a big sensory issue, and it mostly consists with the bands and the straps that make me uncomfortable. And underwear for women is also very uncomfortable too, I typically wear these "boxer" type things(they aren't actually boxers, they are made for women but they are more loose and have a wider area)
Its also hard to find clothing in my style. I really love the kawaii/soft and the pastel goth/goth style but since Im autistic and also being bigger its hard to find those kinds of clothes. And in my area those kinds of aesthetics aren't super popular. It makes me kinda sad that I can't have what I like, both whenever I wear it and whenever I look at it. It just seems so hard to find something thats cute but comfy, and something that is cute but flexible. And I would like to start sectioning my specific styles of clothing. For example, one section would be of my "comfy/casual" wear, another section would consist of my preferred "kawaii" styled clothing, and so on. But it's really hard because we don't have the money, I have a big sensory issue, I am bigger than most(especially when being a female), and where I live my preferred styles aren't in style. And a lot of clothing in my style that are meant for bigger people are so expensive too.

They are the best bike shorts I have ever worn, I love them so much they're insanely comfy and they stay put, the legs don't ride up on them at all. I wish I hadn't cut off the tag (even though I know I must have done it for sensory issues) so that I could get more lol

I love wearing sunglasses but only on my head, I for some reason can't stand wearing them normally but I like it when they're on my head. Anyone else like that? I've walked around with sunglasses on my head saluting the sun (that's what I call shielding my eyes from the sun with my hand) and people have said "Jamie, your sunglasses are on your head" and they're confused that I have no desire to wear them normally. My best friend (who also has autism) is like that with sweatshirts and hoodies, she likes them but only with her arms through the sleeves (or if it's a zip up, that off the shoulder look that's trendy today).

My favorite items are gold sequin/glitter flats, wide leg cropped pants with an elastic waist, a comfortable crochet or eyelet top, and a hat and sunnies to shield sensitive eyes. I also love loose shift dresses in linen blends or silk. I find I’m very particular about color as well. I gravitate to light and bright colors, but not too neon or pastel or too saturated. I noticed I have to buy extras of a purse or pants I love so I stopped and really just enjoy wearing the one I have. 25 crossbody bags is too many for one little body that only goes outside maybe twice a week. 😅

I need all my clothes to be tight on me, especially jeans/leggings. I only wear American Eagle jeggings & random leggings I got from Amazon because they're so soft. I also have other soft pairs of jeans. Softness is my number one condition for clothes. If it's itchy, scratchy, or too loose, I hate it. Shirts can be loose sometimes, but not too much. Otherwise I get anxious and feel very uncomfortable. I'm also very particular about colors: black, gray, navy, tan, and white. It feels great being an adult and being in total control of what I wear!

Hi! My name is Jamie! I noticed I wear a very atypical outfit for someone with autism but also in general, but I wear variations of the same outfit most of the year. I usually wear a tank top and miniskirt with my green raincoat over top of it (goes down to mid-thigh) and mid-calf black riding boots but in winter sometimes it's really cold so I wear a sweater instead of a tank top under my raincoat. I don't know why I absolutely feel the overwhelming need to wear a raincoat, but I love wearing one so much, it feels entirely "wrong" for me to not wear one (I'm wearing it right now and I always wear it to bed too) and I don't mind that I'm always hot. Is there a term for where you want to wear something even if it's not comfortable? Anyways on a side note, the light you have on your desk, that big orange light reminds me of a channel called red hot nickel ball, he used to drop these red hot balls of metal into various liquids to see how they react.
