This is the best walkthrough of an Elektron piece of gear that I have ever seen. I feel I'm finally ready to take the plunge. Thank you so much Gabe for your channel and for sharing the knowledge ✌️🖤
You absolutely earned a sub from me for this one. Got my Digitakt 2 a week ago and I quickly fell in love with the Elektron workflow, to the point where I’m getting ready to order a Syntakt, which is what brought me to this video. You did a great job presenting at (to me) a perfect knowledge level. I’ll be watching for new content from you going forward. You could have easily called this “how to get around Elektron *takt devices.” :)
You sir are magnificent. I learned so much. I’m in the early days with Syntakt and already got good results before learning all this useful information.
8:25 well I'm glad you made this video. It's giving me a better idea of how the Syntakt works from a user perspective. People say about a learning curve but it seems pretty logical to me. If only the MPC plugins were like this!
Very informative video. Thank you very much for your time. I'm still on a fence of buying one actually. But your video pushed me more into the direction of purchasing the thing :)
Thanks for the excellent video! - One question: Why did you have to save the project as a new project (at 11:50), given that at the very beginning you started out by creating a new project? Was it not an option to save the project you created at the start?
This was such a good video! Because the Syntakt has so many screens I have a hard time getting into this device and remembering everything, so even though everything is labeled pretty nice it is very helpful to see a walkthrough. I hope you will do a follow up about song mode, copy/pasting patterns, and muting non globally, because I am not using much of that functionality right now, because everytime I want to I already have forgotten too much.
Glad it was helpful! Although to be honest, I didn't dig much into the stuff you mentioned either. I'm not planning to keep the Syntakt, so most of what I know is in this video.
The things you mentioned are quite self-explanatory. Create a project just for training shortcuts, copying stuff and you will get your great around very fast
@@GabeMillerMusicinteresting you are not planning on keeping it. Will you stick to the MC-707 instead? Being not able to include samples and loops annoys me more, than expected. Sequencing/triggering samples from the SP-404 with the Syntakt is not that convenient.
Hey gabe, i was pondering on buying a circuit tracks and read in the manual that you can send program changes to external synths, so you could use it to change presets in another synth, but this is just mentioned and i cant find online exactly how to do it. Do you know how to?
Hello, thank you very much for this much needed tutorial for new users ^_^ I am writing to ask you about the pattern change (minute 10:22). When I hit "PAGE", the light doesn't change pattern, I have no way to interleave pages. But you do, you see a light every time you click on it to change the pattern. Why is that?
Asking as someone who is not familiar with Elektron devices. I could never understand which one does what. I figured out that Digitakt is kind of a drum machine & a sampler, Digitone is more like a synth but then what exactly is Syntakt?
Yeah the Digitakt is a sampler, the Digitone is FM drums/synths specifically, and the Syntakt is a mix of FM, digital subtractive, and analog subtractive.
No, I'm still planning to get rid of it. I wanted to make sure that the stuff I had learned about it could be put to helpful use, rather than going to waste living just in my head.

Gabe - Appreciate this very clear intro to the Syntakt!

Off topic:
but would you consider the TR-8s and the TR-6s to be “beginner-friendly” grooveboxes..?
Thanks for all your amazing videos. I am very curious to seeing you make some tracks on the Pioneer DJS 1000. Please do a video with that .
I'm not currently planning on it but maybe at some point!
Great vid

There is actually 3rd way to record: REC + STOP
I want this. How can I buy it ? I'm from India .
Cost ?
does this mean you're keeping the syntakt?

@@GabeMillerMusic just curious about your main reason not to keep it ?
More techno
I have to say I find learning this device difficult, it destroys the flow. I guess as it has a steep learning curve
this interface is horror :-)
Thanks for the video!
