Hi just to say your videos are magic.but it's your narrator's voice that makes it with your quirky comments at times.calming and you could be a narrator at anything.. magic... can't wait to come to Thailand in November....
Starting my Thailand experience in Hua Hin this Nov. I think I'll explore south for the first 5 months before going north to the bigger cities. Coming to retire, so my pace can as slow as I like it to be! Your videos have been the most helpful, and pleasant to watch of all the creators. Ty STL!
My friend, your videos help me dream of a new life! If you posted 10 hr videos I'd play them in the background while work! Thanks so much for the content!
I would watch more than 25 minutes. We chated by email before about those tiny homes on Samui I believe. During the colonization period, Siam obtained a treaty with England. Siam managed to survive this period, but not without some cost. One of the stipulations of the treaty was that Siam couldn't station an army in the South of the country, as it posed a threat to Malaya, which was an English colony at that time. Interestingly, almost half of Malaya was previously part of the Ayuthaya empire. The agreement stated that England wouldn't attack the South of Siam, and in case of any issues, they would send a fleet to handle the situation. However, during Japan's invasion, Churchill did nothing to support Siam. Fortunately, the Siam government wasn't completely unprepared; they implemented a youth military learning program in Prachuap, where Wing 5 is currently located. While this wasn't a military base in line with the agreement, it provided some defense capabilities. This particular part of history, if it had occurred in other countries, would have been a significant event in their history books. However, for Thailand, it is only briefly mentioned in a few pages of history books for the sake good friendship between Thailand and Japan. Without it Japan would not have shown any respect to Thailand and would have acted without asking for permission. This incident led to the Thai government which was Juntra of course joining the Axis and contributed to the famous "Bridge on the River Kwai" story. It's one of the worst places where allied soldiers lost their lives - not happen in Myanmar, Laos, or Cambodia,Malaya but in very peaceful Thailand.... None of this would have happened if England had fulfilled their promises. The funny part is during WW- II, it was not the Axis powers that harmed Thailand the most, but rather the Allied forces. They carried out air bombings in many places, especially in Bangkok this is how Hua Hin rapidly developed from a fishing village into a resort town. As the capital faced bombing raids, wealthy individuals sought refuge in Hua Hin, which was considered a safer destination.
You have become one of my favorite vloggers! yes i wouldnt mind longer videos. Plus you are from vancouver! like me! PKK looks like a good place that i would want to live as well as hua hin. nice videos and keep them comin!
