Nice episode guys, well done for helping out this family. It's so difficult when you have a situation like this. Last year I had to do the same for my Dad's collection which comprised of a Toyota Hilux, Caravan, a 1/4 scale working Burrell traction engine and a couple of trailers. They all went to great homes and it really helped with my Mum's peace of mind. Not easy but it was a job well done.
Love this restoration stuff! I’m about to start today to get my old V70 back on the road. Needs a recon auto box, and power steering is leaking but once all that done should just need it’s MOT. Looking forward to the heated arm chair seats. Was going to sell for scrap on eBay until I sat in it, got it started and remembered what it was like on long journeys. I said to the wife my heart may be ruling my head but I couldn’t pass it on to someone else to have the joy of it……….I’m a sucker for bringing old stuff back to life so love it when you guys too! That jag? Lovely idea. But can’t see it without THOUSANDS being spent.
The S600 is definitely a big risk, but the color is absolutely georgeous. Very rare. The electric issues can be a really painful but also let`s not forget, that there is also another elefant in the room: the ABC-suspension and this could be really expensive. If the rust is not a big deal and the engine in good condition, it`s worth a try to get it back on the road. But the interior is also a challenge. I´m hyped for the next episodes. Good luck and greetings from Germany 😉
Agreed and part of me wishes it was a w140 s600 but the 220 does have more features and parts are actually available for them. The abc is scary but you can rebuild a lot of the components at home and save a ton. The biggest expenses would be the ignition coil packs and abc pump if needed. Otherwise a lot of potential in that 600
Hey alex, MG F Enthusiast here, i have owned several of these and the way to disarm the immobiliser is on the key fob, being rover/MG you have to make sure all the doors are closed including the frunk and the boot, lock the car with the key fob, unlock the car and put the key in the ignition, the little ALARM light in the centre of the Dash should go out indicating the immobiliser has been deactivated so it should turn over. Love the videos, cant wait to see your take on the little MG (the suspension is also a bit funky they use spheres filled with gas, make sure the spheres are not perished as this can cost a fair bit to replace but to get them pumped up you will need a specialist for. if there is no gas in the spheres you wont get the correct ride height making the car very low and scrape on everything)
So now I'm all up to date, I have spent the past 5 days watching every single video on the channel from the start to this. I absolutely love the channel, and I absolutely love shitbox's. Few tips for you trading cars. 1) scrap yards are very helpful places. 2) don’t buy Vauxhalls. Nobody buys them (plus they are crap) 3) smaller cars with smaller engines usually sell better seeing as they are cheaper for tax and insurance. Also more appealing for young drivers. 4) people carriers sell pretty well. No estates and saloons. They are usually more of a struggle. Thought I’d just share some of the info I know here but I’m sure Taylor knows what he’s doing. 🎉
I love how Alex ties to hide his addiction for buying cars under the "trading up" series!! I suppose it comes in as a handy excuse with the Mrs! Well done
Oil in the wiring harness is not a massive issue. That’s happened to many other manufacturers over the years (BMW, Perkins, etc). Oil is an insulator don’t forget. Replacing the faulty sensor and just washing the harness connectors with isopropyl alcohol is all you need. Oil in the module is also not bad unless there are temp sensors or air pressure sensors inside - that’s where things go wrong. I’d love that Merc to be honest!!
Man, I really like those daimlers! Also, you might not need to replace the wiring loom! On the w211 you replace a short part of the loom, with an additional inline plug that's leak proof. This stops the leak going any further. Cleaning out the ecu's usually gets them working again, and although the residue oil seeps out through use over the next year or so, you can just clean it off when it throws a code until it's all gone. So you might have to drive a v12 for a year before you sell it.
This is so weird seeing this barn on your channel. I snuck around in here whilst delivering rural parcels for Royal Mail in the Dorchester area last summer. There is so much stuff tucked away in rural Dorset. I have a small list of some barn finds I have found over the past couple of years locally. Awesome to see these cars finally getting a new home.
@@chrishart8548 I don't know how the market for these Vans is in the UK but here in Germany one like that would bring at least 5k probably more it doesn't matter if it was a write off these are just so damn popular.
@@chrishart8548 a running and driving transporter will always be worth something to someone. Especially with an MOT. Being a 1.9 PD is a massive bonus for it too. PD over any modern VAG diesel engine any day. Trailer tyres are cheap. Look at the bigger picture pal. Potential is the key word.

Needs a full restoration. I think a project like that may just be a little bit to much for the AutoAlex guys. But IF they do it, it would be a very interesting series indeed.
The Daimler and the Mercedes-Benz can be restored. Probably a project restoration for the Daimler by a specialist if not then spare parts. A terrific barn find. The VW would make a good day campervan or camera van for big Pete doesn't work.
If you have something like the van, where the battery is really really low don't connect jumpers to it. It has a big voltage drop / draws power from your jumpers that can't be used to start the engine. This is probably why you needed so many jumpers. You're often better off disconnecting the battery and trying it with just the jumpers or another car/battery, because then you've got the whole power for the engine and not a majority for charging the death battery.
The EGS control unit won't stop it starting. It's most likely the transmission plug seal leaking ATF. VERY common! Cheap and easy to fix. If you are definitely getting fuel to the injectors then I would start looking at the front SAM control units.

This is a great video! Love how much fun you had looking at these barn finds! It is also quite funny Alex is doing a heartfelt piece to camera and Taylor is just cleaning himself 😂
MG Fs have gone up a bit the last few years. Good ones are north of 5k, rarer models (VVCs and Trophys) a bit more. Rough ones you can still get for grand. That one looks solid, probably around 2.5k with the timing belts done! They're great fun, I've had several now and in VVC flavour (dare I say it) I preferred it to my old MX5. Screaming up to 8000rpm in a tiny mid-engined car is a laugh! If you need parts I'd recommend DMGRS. They were extremely helpful!
Novel idea but you’d spend so much time and effort only to still need to gut all the features from the car. These yes fiber optic can-bus cables and the engine modules communicate with the suspension, body control, stability control systems, interior, steering, even the seat modules! It’s all interconnected and not worth trying to remove components like that. You can fix and rebuild the modules and usually that will sort out most of the issues on a w220. The mold inside tells me the wiper and sunroof drains are clogged and water has cooked all the modules under the hood behind the engine and the ones in the trunk and passenger footwells
Much prefer this sort of content to the "...and then we took it to the Nurburgring" stuff. I get that has a place, but this just seems much more organic and really brings out the chemistry and humanity of all involved.
Seriously, 10k for the van and trailer is a seriously huge bargain. The van alone can go for 10k just by itself knowing the Transporter market. The other 3 are free.

First like is from me❤🎉. You are doing this great guys keep it up. Love from sri lanka❤
Hope you guys get your country back from the chinese mate.
always impressed by Taylor’s diagnostic skills
Unreal Alex! Not to make you jealous but I bought my dream car recently at 29 years of age 🙈😂 87 325i sport m tech in dolphin grey with Alpina’s on 😎 can’t wait to see what you and Taylor do with your E30 Tourings! If you’re ever in Ireland hit me up. Top work as always 👊🏻❤️
S600 straight piped
Mgf turbo conversion
Van solid tow rig/daily
Daimler shaguar gone pass it on Alex’s adhd is the best thing about this channel 😂 never no what’s next
We need a food review channel with Taylor.
Woooo finally VW T5 Transporter YESSSS, facelifted to a T5.1 with sportline body kit 😀😀 Gem 👌
PLEASE make a video on getting the Daimler running. That would be so cool seeing that old car work again.
The 'Mk2 Jag' Daimler, thanks to its colour, made me instantly think of Inspector Morose ...
Which gives rise to some name ideas....
[1] MG-F - Poppet (for the valves)
[2] Daimler - Morose
[3] VW Van - Rattle Van (like Rattle Can)
[4] S600 - Agent Moulder
Taylor is so knowledgeable with literally every car! I hope you got your beef Brenda
This is why we love you bunch, taking huge risks for a good cause, proper proper good people
This is a great video! Love how much fun you had looking at these barn finds! It is also quite funny Alex is doing a heartfelt piece to camera and Taylor is just cleaning himself 😂
I have two of those exact cat jump packs, used them for years and theyve never let me down. Can inflate a tyre from dead flat too
The Daimler has potential. It's definitely the most interesting car out of the lot. Get it running, see what happens after.
$10k car collection, most of the value is in the trailer.
That good ol car collector's haul. Love it.
I wanna see that S600 into its former glory. Those cars are so sleek, smooth to drive. It's so stylish for its era. Please restore this purple beauty.
Could the S600 engine be power with a Haltech elite and off the shelf sensors/coils/fuel pump, getting rid of all its pricey stubborn Mercedesness?
Novel idea but you’d spend so much time and effort only to still need to gut all the features from the car. These yes fiber optic can-bus cables and the engine modules communicate with the suspension, body control, stability control systems, interior, steering, even the seat modules! It’s all interconnected and not worth trying to remove components like that. You can fix and rebuild the modules and usually that will sort out most of the issues on a w220. The mold inside tells me the wiper and sunroof drains are clogged and water has cooked all the modules under the hood behind the engine and the ones in the trunk and passenger footwells
Sorry for the families loss, hoping you can save the lovely cars to keep the dad’s collection running and making memories
The fact this video has 230xxxk vieuws in under 24 hourse. With "only"500k subs. Community is crazy strong.❤❤
You know it ❤
Much prefer this sort of content to the "...and then we took it to the Nurburgring" stuff. I get that has a place, but this just seems much more organic and really brings out the chemistry and humanity of all involved.
Seriously, 10k for the van and trailer is a seriously huge bargain. The van alone can go for 10k just by itself knowing the Transporter market.
The other 3 are free.
23:08 - It's Rendang - Which is Indonesian slow cooked beef curry. It's probably the nicest thing I've ever eaten, especially whilst in Indonesia itself.
Loving the Daimler , I have the 4.5 Daimler V8 Hemi in my 1932 Ford Roadster , The Big brother of your 2.5 , it's a brilliant engine , aluminium hemi heads / iron block twin SU carbs , should be fun when it's running , Good luck Taylor
All scrap only good bits are the trailer and van
Buzzing this series is back! Love a good trade up challenge :D!
Another Banger Let’s Get It Trending
Can i suggest when Rorys behind the camera put a mic on him
Never comment on things, but today i feel i must say thankyou guys for being brilliant and bringing me hours of smiles and laughs. Keep being you. Oh, good luck with that red pile of rust. Did a mk2 in that condition, the whole floor had to be replaced 😞
Taylor casually detailing himself at the end is comedy gold.
23:15 - Beef Rendang is actually a common festive dish from South East Asia, especially Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia.
We gotta see and hear that V12 running and then getting straight piped 🤩 Great video👌
Try turning the headlights off next time you want to jump start a car or van. 👍🏻
Alex paying tribute to the dad and Taylors just pumping away on the rapid detailer 😂
Rory's knowledge on the electricals is amazing.
S600 engine good that v12 coil packs are rubbish normally on them 5 speed boxes the pilot bush which is 5mm socket is where the leak comes from tcm control module go to a breakers and grab a second hand one it will start on it it’s all sortive plug and play stuff mercs back then where sortive away u go type not like now where everything is updates and scn coding etc
I wonder if that Daimler will see a banger track or if Tom can get it to a restorer who will save it. It doesnt look in best condition but there might be hope depending on how crusty it is underneath
Daimler 250, de-gutted , XJR running gear, LEZ & ULEZ bypassed in style!
Grace, Pace, and Space! You know it makes sense 😮
These videos just got better and better. Thank you Alex, I’m proud of you.
At this point you should get Lory with really big inclosed trailer
love that this series is back
Please Please get that 3 Pointed Star Barge back on the road.
Haha Taylor casually using McGuires tyre shine to clean up🙈😂 I use that stuff on my work boots! 23:53
Van to camper conversion next with that barn find van
The shock horror look on Taylor's face when the quick detailer was smacked out of his hand was so funny!! Da Na na na 🤣🤣
that van has a dismal 84hp and 0-60 in 23 seconds, remap it for £200 for 140hp and 320nm. What a difference!
Yesss please keep this series going!!
