This whole album Cerulean is full of beautifully crafted songs like this one. This really takes me back to college days when I used to drift off to sleep listening to this album nearly every night.
Up there in quality with the likes of The Smiths, James, The La's etc, just surprisingly American. These guys should have reached the same dizzying heights, still timeless now.
I used to spend hours at music store listening stations, trying to find treasure I NEVER would have heard on the radio and The Ocean Blue were one of my greatest finds! Pure beauty and graceful melodies are to be found on every album they put out! Cherish them and always will!
I only discovered them (purely by chance) over the weekend, on youtube - I am beyond peeved that I had not heard of them sooner! It seems incredible that in the late 80's and right through the 90's (my teens to 20's) I was always looking out for good bands and I never discovered them - gutted! Where are you? I'm in the UK - I wonder if that is why. I don't remember ever hearing them on the radio and my friend's dad paid for MTV etc, so we used to watch regularly, so I really don't understand why I've never heard them before. I used to listen to John Peel on the radio and he introduced me to some belter tunes. Then, like you say, going into independent record shops, but they didn't have a listening facility, so I used to randomly buy records from this one tiny store which was probably only 12 feet by 10 feet square, but they crammed the records in, and almost everything they had was absolutely mint. That's how I first discovered the band Curve, I liked the cover of their single and just impulse-bought it. The guy who worked there knew his stuff and if you said you liked a certain band he could point you in the right direction of other things you'd probably like. He had no problem playing stuff for you, but I used to go in my college lunch hour because I went to college in a different town, so I had limited time. My goodness I'm writing a book on your comment, sorry I'll shut up now!
PS All that said, if this was first brought out in 2005 I'd not have stood a chance of hearing it, my son was 2 years old and I was crazy busy - i lost all spare time I used to have after work and at weekends to read books, write poetry, listen to music in abundance, it was mad, all gone in a flash. Wouldn't change it though, he's a brilliant young man, with very eclectic musical tastes, just like his mother!
In the 90s, I soaked my brain with the sounds of: Ocean Blue, The Sundays, and Toad The Wet Sprocket. Great times....today I still give them plenty of play 😎.

333DGK Totally. Sad that in the late 80's early 90's in america it was only hair metal dying out and grunge coming in. Then that stupid girl hippie rock. Totally obnoxious and is why many of us in america had to turn to the ROSES, happy mondays, and then finally blur and oasis. I didn't even know this band existed til the early 2000's. Fuck america is fucking stupid sometimes.
@@urwholefamilydied What do you mean by "girl hippie rock?" I remember a lot of angry punk/grunge girl bands, but I never thought of them as hippies... very much not. Can you give some examples? I loved this band from way back! The sound they produce gives them the knack of style and charisma they deserve. They are from Camp Hill,Pa which is only 2 1/2 hrs away from me which makes it even more awesome! They are underrated and need to have more exposure.
