The first time I remember hearing this song I was home alone, playing Rhythm Heaven Fever in the den with the sound cranked up. My partner returned home from work, hears this infectious music blasting in the other room along with all of the ridiculous sound effects that are part of a Rhythm Heaven game, and yells "What in the hell are you playing?!?" He walked in to see me playing a game in which a wrestler was being interviewed, various items are being thrown and caught, and a swordsman is chopping up demons - all to the rhythm of the music.
It's so hard to explain what is going on in a Rhythm Heaven game without sounding crazy - it's best to just watch or play the game. Rhythm Heaven Fever was my first Rhythm Heaven experience and once I got past how strange the game was, I loved it! In a game with such a simple premise, it's great that the scenarios were so strange and endearing, and the music was so outstanding.
There are so many well-made, catchy songs in Rhythm Heaven, but the theme to "Remix 4" was one of the songs that really got me amped up while playing it. It's been in my head to cover for many years now, and I'm glad that I've finally found the right time and project to bring this remix to life.
I kept a lot of the original feel and structure of the song, but ever since I heard it in the game, I've always wanted the song to just go a little bit harder. To me, this song was begging to be a little more of an EDM track and that's the direction I went in for this Pulse remix.
It's a shame that the Rhythm Heaven games seem trapped on older hardware but at the very least I could recommend watching some gameplay videos or trying to listen to the original soundtrack if possible. It's an adorable game with some wild scenarios and some truly outstanding, catchy tracks.
