As a long-time comic book reader I wanted to post an entry about the Marvel World Adventure Playset. It debuted in 1975 during the Bronze Age of comic books and was created by Amsco, the toy division of board game maker Milton Bradley. It is made of die-cut, heavyweight cardboard. Every piece of cardboard has color graphics printed on both sides. The playset depicts five of the major buildings from Marvel Comics. These include Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, The Fantastic Four’s Baxter Building and plane, Peter Parker’s home, the Daily Bugle, and the Avengers Mansion.
Great to see someone show off something so rare.
TYSM for allowing us to print out the set ourselves
I got this when I was 9. I used to use tracing paper to trace similarly sized characters in the comics, use markers to color them, then cut them out and glue them to cardboard. I had about à hundred characters. Such a fantastic set!
Sif was the shocker in this set
I really appreciate this video. You did this playset a great service.
wow, thank you! I wish somebody one day will put scans of this set online somewhere. dream toy as a kid!
This was one of my favorite toys as a kid bc you had more hero representation. Especially Vision whoo was my favorite and Scarlet Witch
Thank you so much for posting such a detailed video! This set and your walkthrough of it deserve a lot more attention. I'll hold out hope for a reproduction to make retail for as long as I live.
Dude, the holy grail of Marvel memorabilia...so cool, congrats! Love your video, very nice camera work. Always wondered what it was like...now I know, thanks to you. Can I ask you where did you get the various paper/card board plates with all the other marvel heroes and villains (shown on your blog)? its really gangster! Make mine Marvel!!! ps: love your setup with the Secret Wars tower of Doom with Bullseye.
Great review, I have this set and complete minus the instructions. I actually made a video recently.
Thanks for making this video. Hate to be that guy, but a couple of tiny errors: You said Steve Kirby. Its Jack Kirby. To me, the figure on back of Capt Marvel is Rick Jones since he and Cap exchanged places when the neg-bands were struck together.
Thanks so much for the info. I can't believe I said Steve Kirby. I know you are right about Rick Jones as well. I wish I could go back in time and update the video.
Rick & Marv switching places was an homage to the original Captain Marvel (Shazam).
That is not Mar-Vell on the back of Captain Marvel. It is Rick Jones, who for a time would switch places in the Negative Zone with Mar-Vell by bringing the Nega Bands together.
Thank you, good to know.
