I am looking for a 3 row cross-over and the 2020 Highlander Platinum, Telluride SX, Lexus RX350L are all in contention. I have left out Hyundai Palisade due to the not so responsive dealership and front/side looks along with barely any inventory at my local dealership. After driving these vehicles, your driving impressions of the Highlander 2020 seem spot on. I also went to your site driversonlyrankings.com/ to check out the ratings you have given. The Highlander seems much quieter and the ride quality is also better, almost reaching the RX350 levels in cabin quietness. I can barely hear any road noise or passing vehicles in the Highlander compared to the Telluride. In Ride quality, it seems almost 90% of the RX350 level, but much above the Telluride. They are very close to each other and the only parameters the Telluride outclasses the Highlander are Interior Space, Price and Value. You rate the Telluride better on Quietness and also Ride Quality. Any particular reasons for it. My experience has been the opposite on both these parameters.
@@jont718 Yes that is true, but both the RX350L as well as Highlander 2020 have minimal 3rd row space fit only for kids. This is where the Telluride and Palisade are better designed space-wise. For a new buyer having not owned Hyundai/Kia before, it is a difficult decision to opt for these. It is almost feels like gambling.

Cosmetic items aside....I did a side by side test drive on both & the 2020 Highlander on the new Toyota platform won hands down!! It felt & handled so much better! I bought the 2020 XLE model in Ruby flare pearl color....loving every minute of it!
Thank you for this most helpful review! I've ordered the 2020 Highlander XLE in red. Even though you can get a good deal on the 2019 model, for me it's already outdated. I keep my cars a very long time so updated is best. Love the new platform which gives it better, tighter driving/ suspension; 2 more cubic feet of cargo space in the back; ANDROID autoplay, (why pay $40,000 for a car that I can't use my Android phone in? That alone was a big factor!) Looking forward to part 2.
Excellent comparison. It's too bad that Toyota dropped the flip up rear window on the 2020 Highlander. I still prefer the new 2020 design over the 2019 front end.
I sure hope! The 2021 can open the rear window because it’s a family suv and that feature is a must I have a 2017 and I literally open that rear window daily not to mention I’ve had to drive with a long item sucking out the rear window that’s all it needs for me to upgrade
Thank you very much for this comparison! Really helps in seeing what's new/gone compared to my 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Sucks to see how they've crazily cheaped out on the second row seats. My 2012 Highlander Hybrid has captain chairs AND a removable center seat that can be stored under the driver/passenger center arm rest, and replaced with a removable cup holder with additional storage (can also be stored under arm rest). Both included in the vehicle.
Can you lift the rear glass separate from the tailgate on the 2020 model? If not, that’s a big change. I enjoy being able to lift the glass separately on my 2018 LE Plus Highlander.
Good review and thanks for candor. Please review the Hybrid when it comes out. I know the power is reduced in the new Hybrid, I'd just like to know if it's worth the switch from the V6.
Thanks for the video and review; it has been very helpful in my search for a new car. One quick question I hope you can help with. At 6:16, on the info screen there is a "Projection" option. I'm a tech geek so I'm wondering if that is an option to project your smartphone screen on to the infotainment display? Or maybe the other way around? I haven't been able to find any other reference to that menu option anywhere but in this video. Can you shed some light on that please? Thanks!
The 2019 exterior style is much better than the 2020. I hate the 2020 grill style. The back end of the 2020 looks like a minivan. I think I'll get the 2020 Palisade instead. The Palisade looks nicer and has a better warranty.

Kongo for life and Afrika for life..
2020 look like crap of old design. My lease w/ 2018 HL ends in 2021. Let's see if Toyota will change the design or not. If not, gonna miss Toyota!
2017-2019 looks ugly, 2020 looks modern with all the new technology
Agreed 2020 highlander looks atleast 7-8 years old design. It would have been acceptable still, had telluride and palisade werent there. Standing in front of these cars highlander looks like an aging old lady already.
@@grizzlyman329 Then buy the older model of HL...similiar front grill. Save $$
Well if they just came out with this 2020 next redesign will be in 2023 (releasing late 2022)
@@poitierj93 guess i will miss toyota HL and hello lexus!
An OK review. 2019 vs 2020 side-by-side helpful. Need to work on the tone of your presentation. There's no enthusiasm or excitement. You're reviewing an SUV but you also need to sell me on why it is a good SUV to review.
Thanks for the feedback but it's not my place to sell you on the SUV. I'm simply presenting it for you to make up your own mind. More 2019 comparisons coming in the second video.
This guy sounds inebriated
Lol, you should go listen to his old reviews. Thought he was going to pass out a couple times. It's much improved now
They shouldn’t let him drive
Ya sounds weird. And why does he say ‘two thousand nineteen’ instead of twenty nineteen. He’s says ‘twenty twenty’.
The 2020 looks like it was in the oven too long.
A Yates but at least it doesn’t look like a Gillette’s razor blade like the 2019 model
