      I am looking for a 3 row cross-over and the 2020 Highlander Platinum, Telluride SX, Lexus RX350L are all in contention. I have left out Hyundai Palisade due to the not so responsive dealership and front/side looks along with barely any inventory at my local dealership. After driving these vehicles, your driving impressions of the Highlander 2020 seem spot on. I also went to your site driversonlyrankings.com/ to check out the ratings you have given. The Highlander seems much quieter and the ride quality is also better, almost reaching the RX350 levels in cabin quietness. I can barely hear any road noise or passing vehicles in the Highlander compared to the Telluride. In Ride quality, it seems almost 90% of the RX350 level, but much above the Telluride. They are very close to each other and the only parameters the Telluride outclasses the Highlander are Interior Space, Price and Value. You rate the Telluride better on Quietness and also Ride Quality. Any particular reasons for it. My experience has been the opposite on both these parameters.

      @@jont718 Yes that is true, but both the RX350L as well as Highlander 2020 have minimal 3rd row space fit only for kids. This is where the Telluride and Palisade are better designed space-wise. For a new buyer having not owned Hyundai/Kia before, it is a difficult decision to opt for these. It is almost feels like gambling.

    Thank you for this most helpful review! I've ordered the 2020 Highlander XLE in red. Even though you can get a good deal on the 2019 model, for me it's already outdated. I keep my cars a very long time so updated is best. Love the new platform which gives it better, tighter driving/ suspension; 2 more cubic feet of cargo space in the back; ANDROID autoplay, (why pay $40,000 for a car that I can't use my Android phone in? That alone was a big factor!) Looking forward to part 2.

    Sucks to see how they've crazily cheaped out on the second row seats. My 2012 Highlander Hybrid has captain chairs AND a removable center seat that can be stored under the driver/passenger center arm rest, and replaced with a removable cup holder with additional storage (can also be stored under arm rest). Both included in the vehicle.

    Thanks for the video and review; it has been very helpful in my search for a new car. One quick question I hope you can help with. At 6:16, on the info screen there is a "Projection" option. I'm a tech geek so I'm wondering if that is an option to project your smartphone screen on to the infotainment display? Or maybe the other way around? I haven't been able to find any other reference to that menu option anywhere but in this video. Can you shed some light on that please? Thanks!

    2019 is better, MUCH BETTER... I test drove 2020 limited and must say: seats are LESS comfortable in 2020, overall comfortability is not comparable to 2019 while driving, engine sounds louder in 2020 but it is still somewhat quiet; seat positioning in 2020 is more awkward for tall people... driver seat in 2020 no longer has thigh support that extends, this is a definite MISS on 2020... another piece is rear windshield cannot be opened on 2020, so you must open trunk each and every time... another thing 2020 has cut is armrests on captain chairs are not lock-friendly adjustable... they go up and down... in 2019 you can choose to what position each armrest locks into position... 2020 also has steering wheel heating, but only on 9 and 3 positions on the wheel... it is not through-out, and for 50k price tag that is a definite miss... 2020 has piano black infotainment material - definite miss...
    Plus for 2020 are LED headlights, the platinum version has auto-leveling and steering headlights - definitely a plus.
    Workaround for 2019 - upgrade your bulbs to LED or if you want, get Bi-Xenon HID or LEDs aftermarket and replace w plug n play parts ($1000 approx).
    Infotainment is better and more upgraded but still not THAT BETTER...
    Workaround for 2019 - upgrade infotainment with GTA Car kit and install yourself 10" tablet-like infotainment that runs on Android and offers much more than stock 2019...
    I completely DISAGREE this car is a better car from 2019 version... especially not when you are cashing almost 10-11k MORE over 2019...
    I will definitely test drive platinum version once it is available at Dealer's lot - but so far, HELL NO decision on if 2020 is better :)

    I really like it. Because I pick vehicles based on engine and transmission, I can’t find a better combo for long term reliability than this vehicle. To my eyes the front looks more Subaru like than RAV-4 like. I think Toyota can improve that grill with a refresh.
    My only other concern, the size seems like a tweener. As though Toyota wants to compete with new Passport as well as new Koreans. So not as compact as two row, and not as big as three row. They should have made this bigger and then come up with a two row to compete with Passports and Grand Cherokees of this world.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  4 роки тому

      Unless you're looking for a lot of 3rd row room... it's very spacious in the 1st and 2nd row. Yea it's on the smaller side for a 3 row but Toyota did that on purpose since they still have the larger Sequoia which Honda and the Koreans do not have.

      I have been driving Hyundai at different places in the world...even in india where wear and tear is way more than what it is Canada and usa.
      You are talking about time 15 years back when Hyundai's weren't as reliable as Toyota. Today it isn't too far behind toyota.
      It's almost simialr in reliability as honda of nit better.
      A company will not provide 10 years warranty if they dont trust that their product is not reliable and wont last that much time.
      After 7-8 years it's just couple thousand dollars difference in resale value of hyuandi vs Toyota. Its peanuts considering long ownership and for the vehicle as costly as this.
      Toyota is indeed reliable but the way they are designing their cars, it is clear that they are taking people for granted. Look at 2020 highlander, a 2012 hyundai santa fe looked much better...on top of that Toyota highly der 3rd row is not for grown ups, it's just like jumper seats for 7-8 year old kids.
      Feature wise they are miles behind the competition.
      The only saving grace for Toyota is hybrid engine. If Telluride or oalisade bring their hybrid engine...highlander 2020 will struggle badly in this competitive segment.

    Ok so plan and simple the 2016-2019 overall looks better on the exterior than the 2020 model. The 2020 model have a better interior and comes standard with more features but I love the more attractive look of the 2016-2019

    Still like my 2019 Toyota Highlander xle. You can open the back window,2020 you can't. 2019 looks mean. I even show my wife the 2020, she didn't like. Das haf screen, is not all way. The only thing I didn't like Toyota is you can get 2018 Toyota Camry and comes with apple and Android play, but not 2019 xle and no wireless charger. Come on Toyota.

      Agreed 2020 highlander looks atleast 7-8 years old design. It would have been acceptable still, had telluride and palisade werent there. Standing in front of these cars highlander looks like an aging old lady already.

    An OK review. 2019 vs 2020 side-by-side helpful. Need to work on the tone of your presentation. There's no enthusiasm or excitement. You're reviewing an SUV but you also need to sell me on why it is a good SUV to review.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  4 роки тому +7

      Thanks for the feedback but it's not my place to sell you on the SUV. I'm simply presenting it for you to make up your own mind. More 2019 comparisons coming in the second video.
