Actually it’s tempting as it looks amazing and isn’t a dynamic mess but I want a tuneful turbo 1750 version from Giulietta or 2 litre turbo from Giulia/Stelvio 🎯
My preferred method of car reviews is comparing cars with its competition, in this case the BMW x1, no use comparing the Tonale with the Giulia, different class, different purpose and different animal. Let's look at the Tonale and compare it to the BMW x1, the Tonale for me wins hands down.
I really like all your videos. However when quoting servicing costs I dispute just about all of them. I am a mechanic in Melbourne & my personal experience in my workshop is that the cost the manufacturer uses are often under estimated by about 15%-20%. They do not include everything that needs to be done. The cover a certain number of items & if you need other things done you will get charged for them. Also most dealerships make a lot of money in the service departments so they overcharge at the best of times. I don’t know of many people that have paid exactly what is quoted in these service deals. Oh and on a side point as an independent mechanic I am legally allowed to service your new car as long as I follow the manufacturer guidelines.
This is the main problem with car reviewers atm. The Alfa Tonale isn't trying to be an Alfa. It's not an Alfa for the drivers. It's focusing on the family. Alfa has been focusing on purists and hasn't been getting sales. They needed a car for regular drivers to relax in and take their children to school with very few limitations. The Tonale achieves this and has been more successful than the Giulia and Stelvio.
No. Alfa is marketing this as a true Alfa Romeo, literally their ‘metamorphosis’ product - so it’s correct for us to evaluate it through the lens of Alfa’s traditional strengths
For me the biggest flaw is the gearbox. It simply doesn’t do the car any justice what so ever. A ZF 8 speed torque converter auto would have been much better.
The looks alone will sell it. No it’s not a Giulia! But it’s not aimed for Alfisti. I saw it in the showroom when I went to purchase the Giulia and thought it was a very nice and well built car. The Ladies will certainly love it and won’t need the paddle shifters 😁
So, would you take a punt on the Alfa?
Servicing costs are pretty high and safety tech should be standard
Close but no cigar. For a major purchase it’s just too much of a chance compared to other competitors in my opinion based on the excellent review.
No way, far too much of a gamble for me.

No

BMW = Big Money Waste
FORZA ALFA BABY !!!
THE KING IS BACK !!!
Good to have you back🍻
Ponch is like that father-figure who tells you if the car you're interested in is a yay or nay 😊
Plug-In Hybrid AWD version is what you need
Good to see one of your reviews again.
Yaaay ponch - he's a damn good reviewer
Thank god you’re back Ponch! Are you playing the field a bit? I see you posted a Tonale video for Wheels as well.
I personally think its gorgeous
Looks so much better than the Hornet
Lets go! Ponch is back!
Wonder what quality will be like?
By the reports from Europe the plug-in is one to wait for. I wonder what they’ll be asking for it?
Nathan is back!!!
Wonder what happened to the 1750 tbi engine...
To dirty apparently. Though why thy couldn’t adapt some particulate filters for it I don’t know. It’s a great engine.

The dealer has to ask if go over quoted amount....say no
@@daweigo6851 they are meant to but I know plenty of dealers that bend the rules & just do it anyway.
Missed you Nathan!
Nice Toenail
Still, if looking for a compact SUV with around 250nm torque and decent fuel efficiency, isnt this pretty good vs Q3/tiguan/X1.

The sunroof really makes the ceiling lower not very comfortable if you’re tall
The Ponch is back??
Ponch is back?
Nice colour
"the cheaper, the better" .... yes. yes we understand Ponch
Ponch 😍
why bother with a brembo with less than 120kw 🤔
Don’t really consider this an alternative to the Germans . Alfa fans only

more expensive
So James May would not be impressed?
Nice colour. Pity about the car.

Controverial Opinion. Without double wishbone like the Giulia and Stelvio, its not a proper Alfa.
Most people would not even know the difference
So old platform with new bits at a premium price...
It has been drastically changed.
Hybrids should never be plug in
o m g
Poncho!
A wart on stilts with 1.5L T 4 popper hybrid made by two of the LEAST reliable brands. What's not to love.
Another fail for Alfa
Explain??
Looks very MG ZS. Sad that it is a 20 year old ICEbrid.
