Here's a tip. Costco will cut that ribeye roast for you! Just ask the butchers that work there. They do it here in Northern California ❤
Great tip!
I heard the same thing over sam's
Cutting is fun.
Some of us can't afford over 200 for meat and can't buy anything else. Meat is expensive Even if its not grass fed and finished I think the upper class elites and corporations and govt know this and the reason they charge so much for the much more needed clean nutrients we need in organic and regenerative products, etc. Sounds exciting but fixed and low income gotta do what they can.
@@gingercameronfordcrouch7057 true, ribeye is out of reach for a lot of people on a fixed budget. But you can find sale meat at any grocery store. That’s what I’ve been doing lately, I wait until the meat is 50% off and then buy it. Also, when you are not purchasing anything else besides meat, you are going to be saving money. Plus almost 0 food waste.
Its funny how people think its to expensive to eat healthy. But spend $ on garbage.
Yes👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is still pretty expensive lol, you can eat wayyy cheaper than this
Still expensive. It’s still effectively over $100 weekly on steaks alone. There are much cheaper cuts like Picanha, flank or chuck.
This has become my staple on carnivore. Easily a steak a day for 2 weeks. I get this, ground beef, eggs, and butter at Costco and I'm set. Cutting my own steaks has become a zen for me.
Same! I'm eating my way through a whole ribeye as we speak :)
I only buy when ribeye is on sale for 5.99 a pound or cheaper.
I buy a 1/4 grass fed cow from a local farmer pay him 3.50 per lb .the butcher fee includes kill, process and packaging is .60 per lb = $4.10 per lb. buy a freezer it’ll pay for itself and I have prime meat all year.
Prime?
Woah now that's Deal!
@@judsonkrgrass fed cannot be prime. Takes grain to make good marbling. Grass fed sucks!
@@davididkwtf yeah I don’t like grass fed either.
@@davididkwtfman, it’s a well known fact that grass fed beef tastes better and is healthier for you. That’s why Alberta beef is so damn good.
Find a local farmer that raises beef cattle and find out if he sells to the public and he most likely will. If he does beef he will generally sell pork aswell. You can get you meat all custom cut to your liking. We have been doing this for well over 10 years and only pay about $5-6/pound and we know exactly were it came from.
I've tried that, around me farmers either sell whole sides for ~$9/lb or their roasts and steaks are just as much as the local grocery or butcher
This
. $13 lb here
@@JP-rg1yjwhat in the California
Yes Farmers sell sides of beef for $5 to $6 a pound..that is hanging weight (carcass weight) after skinning it....after the beef is processed ( all bones cut out and fat removed) then cut and wrap it's close to $9 or $10 a pound
As a butcher for 18 years thats the way to go if u really love your meat!

@@JennyMitichI’m sure she luv meat😅
I've been doing this for years. Cut them to 1 inch thick wrap them in wax paper and put them in gallon freezer bags. Works great
Thanks for keeping us abreast of the steak situation at Costco.
Always!
Remember when it was 1⁷⁵ a pound now I just window shop.😢
My heart bleads. We now live on pork and chicken
We are eating more Sam's Club hotdogs in stir fry and oddly wrapped in flour tortillas. We're eating a crockpot full of pintobeans every week too. Thank goodness we have fresh chicken eggs. It's gonna get real folks! Real fast! Better get practiced up now making simple meals with cornbread, tortillas, homemade flat breads, artisan loaves. 😊
I can make one pound of cheap hamburger stretch for 5 meals for two people just add oatmeal and lentils a couple of beef bullion cubes and we are good to go for the week.
Ribeye hasn’t been $1.75/lb since the 1960s. And adjusted for inflation it would be more expensive than it is today. About $17.00. Food is less expensive today than ever. If you buy fresh and cook yourself you should have no problem affording good food. 🤦♀️
I get my ribeye for $9 ish a pound at the local restaurant supply store. I got a Costco membership and never used it because this is so much cheaper. I own a pub but anyone can go there, you don't have to own a restaurant. I also buy this size and cut and wrap myself. I smoke 4 ribeyes at a time then keep them in the fridge. When I want one I just throw it in the air fryer 10 min to finish it and get the fat crispy. It comes out perfect.
That’s how I buy mine also !!! Great idea !!! No tax as well… it’s a great savings… cheaper than Costco !!! 🥩🥩🥩🥩😁😁😁😁

I bought my first whole brisket and baked it at 250 degrees following a recipe online it turned out amazing. I love having chunks of tender brisket the rich broth and seared chuck roast in my freezer ready to make a quick meal. I shred Mozzarella and bake it 12 minutes for taco shells. I am also dehydrating brisket to make beef flour. I caught shaved ribeye on sale made delicious steak and egg muffins. Love having a chicken coop our hens lay fresh eggs daily. It’s amazing how little trash we have, eating the carnivore ketogenic way. ❤
That sounds expensive... even at the discount price.
Right. No deal here
I’d eat ribeye every single day if I could start getting it for $11 a pound. That’s almost all I eat already anyway.
Costco is usually expensive
It is meant for a bulk buy, which is a deal, compared to buying per lb anywhere else. To the dude who said no deal here, yeah you are tripping dawg, youd spend that in about a month already if you buy ground beef, Steak, or skirt steaks.
@@jonathanreyes-tt7ws The per lb price is still expensive.
When i was a meat broker i would get that whole cut for $86.40 out the door.
The mark up on that whole cut is insane but still saves you a lot of money even at $350 or whatever costco charges
I bought a ribeye for $45 from Costco like a month ago...cut them up, it's like 4-5 slices so it's like $9-11.25 a slice. Slightly freeze the ribeye so it's firmer to cut it into slices.
11.89 a pound! Christ that's expensive! (in Michigan)
I got whole Ribeye, last week, at my Family Fare for $7.99 per lb. It was an in store special, bot at all stores, but $7.99lb was a great buy.
I can never find a whole ribeye at Costco, but around Christmas I can find it at Kroger and love cutting my own ribeyes
lol, been doing this for 6-7 years. Also new york strip roast works too.
You're definitely glowing since going carnivore. As a twin mom and mom to a newborn my goal is to enjoy this part of the journey and then join you on that path. 😊❤
I'm potty training two 2 year olds and changing diapers and nursing on demand. In addition to our older two (5 & 7) who I homeschool. I'm just in survival mode for the next few months. 😂
My hubby doesn't much cook so I don't have the luxury of meals made by others. But I'm determined to get there with peace and joy. 😊
Hello and thank you! You definitely have your hands full, I’m not looking forward to potty training the boys 😕
Don't forget that the end cuts can be used for a nice steak sandwich.❤

Thank you for this clip.
You're very welcome :)
You can cut it thicker... Helps to develope that crunch on the outside while keeping it raw on the inside 🤤
These are like 1 min max on each side if you want to keep it rare and juicy. It's usually what I do.🤤
she did cut them thick, those are like 32oz steaks lol
RAW?! Really? 🤣🤣 No thanks! I like my ribeye mid-rare. So for me to get that crusty outside and pink medium rare inside with no outer grey, 😜 I 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿 my steaks! Perfect every time!
Pretty sure spacefox is talking about rare. To be raw it has to be not heated at all. :=)
I might have a look at cold sear and maybe give it a whirl! For sake of variety. :)
@@1Hope4Allyou can't cold sear. To search anything needs heat
I bought 20 pounds of ribeye for 4.99 a pound
Nice!
Where?!!? $7.49 a lb is the cheapest I've found them in SoCal in the last year. Typically $13.99 to $16.99 a lb for grain fed choice ribeye
Stater Brothers in So Cal will have rib eyes on sale for $6.99. Not as good as Costco but affordable.
5.98 in my area.
In mecico
I got one in April for $4 a pound from a local grocer. I've realized the worst place to get meat is the bulk stores.
You got Select. No way you got Choice for that price.

Ooh, I'm so envious of you, with that big ol' pile of ribeyes!
I could eat ribeye everyday 😍😍😍
@@JennyMitich oh yes, they're that good.
Niot 100% honest. After trimming and squaring it up you are going to have some "loss" which you need to factor in to the cost.. You could grind the trimmings (if you have a grinder. Some people don't have the capacity to do this but, if you do go for it. Also, you shouldn't saw at a roast like that.Make sure you knife is sharp and apply enough pressure that your blade will go all the way through. You can also put it in the freezer for a little while and it will be more firm and easier to cut straight.
Actually the precut steaks at Costco are trimmed, so you actually don’t get that much better of a deal.
Yeah but then you can't make your own tallow
Stop sawing when you cut the ribeyes...you have that great breaking knife but you're doing all of the work! Let the knife do the work for you. Take long strokes and pull the knife towards you for better, cleaner cuts!
Glad someone said it. No knife skills.
Is there anything hotter than a woman who loves the mighty Ribeye? The superfood of superfoods.
😀😀😀🥩🥩🥩
Good job. The ribeye however looks like a select grade. Very little intramuscular fat. Pretty much rolling the dice when you can’t see the cross-section whereas I can look at 20 different packs of steaks and pick the best set. Often get prime quality steaks at a choice price, just by looking for a minute.
$225 in California for that...its why we call it Comifornia.
Largest state in the Union (most populated). Thus, cost of living is higher. No two ways around it.
Girl your a genius round of applause 👏👏👏👏👏

December grocery store discounts. I pay 4.99/lb and buy three or four 20lb cuts, butcher and vacuum seal them further the freezer. Ribeye for the year, plus rib bones with meat on them for Sunday gravy.
That will be almost as delicious as a big juicy loaded cheeseburger.
That's a boneless rib roast.
I just wanna say for people considering carnivore but intimidated by cost you dont have to buy such nice meat. I shop discount grocery stores or aldi mainly and eat a lot of ribs and pork loin and ground beef. You go to a butcher and get a huge bag of fat for cheap and add that to your meals. Rib eye is great but you dont have to do it. I cant afford it
Edit for fat fingering typos
Very true👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
In Kentucky on Houston rd Florence at Gordon Foods Ribeye loins are $5.99 lb cut ✂️ 💪
Kroger has them for 5.39 per pound during holidays buy them up stock up
$15 per steak is highway robbery. I remember when people could actually afford to buy steak in this country and not worry about going broke. This economy is trash.
Hello! This video is a year old. Prices have improved drastically since then.
@@JennyMitich I don't know where you live in the United States, but prices have absolutely not improved dramatically. I shouldn't be spending $300/week on groceries while buying store brand on 90% of items. Keep carrying water for this administration though, congrats.
@@lhtsnakes1 prices have definitely improved, they are not back to pre-pandemic levels, but they are getting better. Last summer I paid between $12.50 and $15 a pound for the whole ribeye, yesterday I paid $11. That is an improvement. Of course, they could definitely be better, but we are moving in the right direction💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻😀😀😀
@@JennyMitich how much is Joe Biden paying you for this? "Pre-pandemic"?? Y'all still blaming things on that? Lmao
@lhtsnakes1 yeah I'm in in sw Georgia and steaks are ridiculous here too, this economy is trash but when your sending money overseas by the millions what do you expect.
My local grocery store has them every couoke of months for 9.99! I usually buy 2. Great way to save!
Smart!
Not that it matters because you're cutting for home use but if you want to get more consistent weights on each steak try cutting it one to two strokes. If its two one forward cut and a back stroke for the last bit cause by the angel of the cut. But that was a good yeild particularly for the first time.
since costco starts bringing organic foods,in order to keep the difference price between regular and organics
in order to sell organics for 3$ more per pound, they add 1.5$ to regular one so the organics looks only 1.5$ more per pound,so I'm not buying many of stuff from costco
in some cases they only have organics ,like GREEC feta cheese
She paid more for that meat than my entire monthly food budget.
Maybe, but I promise if you do the calculation of nutrition per ounce of food (vitamins, minerals, protein) she's getting a much more efficient food source and better deal for the money.
This guy don’t get it does he
I go to a guy from Ohio who raises his own cattle and sells it by quarter at around $3.80 per pound and bought 1/2 of the beef, I just have to pay 200 extra for the butcher.
Go to big chain retail like giant or food lion or Kroger and choice goes on sale for 8.99 per pound every 4 weeks or so. Also just ask for 15 to 20 one inch steaks and have them trimmed so you don't pay for all that fat your not gonna eat, also a good butcher will clean the rib meat up
My French knife would cut in one swipe. What a shot knife
Problem is, once you cut them up, unless you plan on eating all 15 steaks, you will have to freeze them, and steaks never taste as good after being frozen.
Hello! I’ve never had a problem with frozen steaks, I think they taste just as good😀😀😀
Can immerse in cooking oil. Store in refrigerator for months culinary. Knowledge

Here’s a bit of advice… when you are slicing meat make the cut in one slice not sawing . The sawing motion damages the muscle causing it to be tough,
You spent more on meat than my monthly food budget
The only thing that beats the Costco ribeye is the Costco rib cap. Expensive but worth it

She needs to put the meat in the freezer to stiffen it up for slicing.
If you put it in the freezer to harden up little bit it's easier to cut
I bought half a local grown beef cut and wrapped for 5$ a pound. Imagine tbones and sirloins and roasts at 5$ lb ❤
That and getting the whole (prime) top sirlon cap are great if you can afford that initial output of $300 at one time and freeze it.
Most people don't have that much to spend on meat these days.
Most importantly you can cut them to your preference, my dad and I cut to 1", my mom gets 1/2". They all get vacuum packed and deep freeze. Then sousvide when I leave on Sunday errands, get home sear, sides, serve.
Smart 😀
My vacuum packing is a straw, suck the air out of a freezer bag, works
