Oh I did that day trip too back in the days when living with my parents still and my mom had a strict "you're all gonna sleep in your own beds at home here every night" rule. Because of that rule I let some of my friends know and they were happy about that too since they had jobs right the next morning so we immediately set it all up by bus, met really early in the morning when it wasn't even bright outside yet and went to another city, spent all day there and when sunset hit, we headed back to home, made it right before dark and like that we did a bit of adventure, I saw my ancestors city and everyone at home and jobs were also happy. The only downside of that was that we were really badly stressed to make sure we head back in time and lacking a bit of sleep too since we were too stressed about getting the transportation's time right, none of us actually slept the night before. It's a treasured memory of our younger days now.
Thank you for taking us on this beautiful journey with you Shinichi. The more I watch your videos, the more I learn how amazing and truly magical Japan is, so thank you!
Honestly, while maybe not the exact video you had hoped to make this is incredbly informative and useful for trip planning. You gave an excelent glimpse at how to get around Hakone and snippets of the sights with out showing to much so we have to go there ourselves to see things proper.
Thank you for taking us with you on this journey. I really enjoyed seeing the different modes of transportation. The video quality was superb, you really captured the beautiful mountainous scenery.
Aloha Shinichi 🌺 I just love watching your vlogs. The drinks and foods are worth watching alone, however, the beautiful sight seeing amazes me every time I see you travel and take us along. Mahalo for letting see beautiful Japan scenery with you. Aloha 🌺
What an amazing trip , you couldn't have picked a perfect day to explore this beautiful part of paradise. Thanks so much it tourists need to see 👀 how much Japan has to offer gorgeous scenery , food and boats volcano and shrines all in a day .💛
It's so beautiful mahalo for taking us with you guys Japan has so many beautiful places I would love to just stay for month so I can explore some places have blessed and awesome trip looking forward to see what more you guys have to take us love it 🤩
I really enjoyed this video, I was in Japan in April 2018 and friends took me up to Hakone for the day, we ate at the same restaurant and had Soba noodles AND would you believe we sat at the exact same floor table as you outside the kitchen, it brought me back to so many wonderful memories that day, thank you so much Shinichi. However it was super busy and we had to wait over 30 mins to get into the restaurant, I noticed you were able to walk straight in. Unfortunately the mountain was closed that day and we couldn’t go up and have the black eggs. So we then went for a drive and went to the same bakery however we sat outside and used the feet onsen/spa and enjoyed our coffee over looking Lake Ashi. It was a wonderful day. Next time I will stay a couple of days at Hakone and ride the pirate ship and take the tram and ropeway up the mountain..
What a wonderful day!! So much to do. I think I would have enjoyed it all but I love being on the water more than anything so that would have been my favorite part. I had my wedding on a riverboat many years ago.
I love visiting the Hakone area - a bit embarrassed tomboy I have never wandered through town. As a kid we would go to the Gora area to stay, but my husband and I have gone to Miyanoshita to stay at the Fujia Hotel - we have explored that area, but we should maybe spend 1 nite in town when we go back. It's so beautiful!
A good video. It was nice to be reminded of some things I have seen in Hakone and also introduced to some others that I haven’t. Last time we went we were passing through. At the end of the ropeway, instead of getting the boat back to Hakone Machi, we got on a bus to Kawaguchiko as it was a trip to Mt Fuji. Kawaguchiko is the town on lake Kawaguchi - the body of water you see in photos of Mt Fuji with a lake in front of it.
Beginning of 2020 was lucky enough to go to Hakone and stay at Hoshino Kai resort …it was simply a sublime experience ….it was worth staying in what was literally a box in Tokyo so my wife and I could experience the luxury resort
Seeing this brings back lots of memories. I hiked with some friends along the Tokaido Road, starting around Lake Ashinoko & Hakone Shrine. Such a beautiful area, but we were hiking in August. It was so hot that day. 😅 Worth it, though.
Thank you for making this detailed video about Hakone! We'll be in Tokyo in June next year and I might follow your itinerary including eating all the food you ate, lol! Hakone is beautiful, I cannot wait! 😊😍🤩
Hakone is one of the best things about Japan, hands down :) In good weather it gives such a perfect and full day trip. Apropos of the ticket at 14:12 : the Hakone Free Pass we got back in 2019 also advertised unlimited back-and-forth between Shinjuku and the Hakone area, but it actually meant only unlimited transportation in Hakone and only one round trip between Tokyo and Hakone. The ticket machine ate my ticket when exiting at Shinjuku Odakyu station and I had to ask the attendant to fish it out for me - I think I got mine back and not someone else's XD 19:40: in 2019 the ropeway was closed down section by section for renovations, we skipped the first part and were taken to Owakudani by bus, and took the ropeway down to Lake Ashi - the new ropeway terminal looks great!
I was scheduled to visit Hakone before the pandemic happened last 2020. Thankfully, all bookings were refunded except for the plane fare. This video has filled the void in me and enjoyed it as if I am in Hakone. Thanks so much for videos like this Shinichi. Gambatte kudasai.
I've done 2 day trips and 1 overnight in Hakone and love the area. Owakudani is my fave spot not only for the eggs and shopping but because I got some great pics of Fuji last time I was there 4 years ago. Planning on visiting in November is Japan finally opens up.
I have mobility problems and so I don’t take your trip lightly-so appreciate your work in showing us your trip …it was Beautiful ! I wish you could’ve enjoyed onsen and a good overnight rest there…it must’ve been quite late getting back home ☹️ Hope you had a good meal and good nights sleep on your return! Thank you again! 💚
Thank you for this video, this helps confirm that Hakone needs to be one of my day trips out of Tokyo when I visit Japan. One question, is the Hakone travel pass something I should get before coming to Japan or can I get it there? Thank you.
Hakone is a great place. Much cooler than Tokyo. It's good that you saw the blooming ajisai. Yummy food and great scenery from mountain to lake to pirate ship. The blancmange looks good. Thanks Shinichi and Satoshi.
Hi, I was wondering if I arrived to NRT at 3:30 pm, is it possible for me go directly to Hakone to stay overnight? How long does it takes to go through custom / immigration / collecting luggage? i read that i should take Narita Express to Shinjuku then take Romancecar or rRapid Express to Hakone-Yumoto. I can't find any information on the hours of operations for these trains and when is the last train to get there. Thank you in advance for all your help.
when i came to japan i remember hakone was it lake ashi? i remember seeing the shrine from the lake n remember the pirate ship n ropeway but didnt get to eat onsen eggs i guess because i was on a tour we stayed overnight in an onsen hotel loved the onsen. wow thats a really neat torii fountain thanks for climbing the stairs for me i would be huffing n puffing you really did a lot in one day
Hi, we want to take the bus from Hakone Yumoto to Hakonemachi-ko. We've heard that the ride can make you sick if you're prone to motion sickness. Do you know anything about the Hakone Shindo LIne (express) route "r". We were wondering if this is a better option than the "H" route. Thanks. Great video
Rainy season ended early this year.. And now its back lol :( I'm wishing I went to the beach or hakone or somewhere while it was hot cos now I don't feel like going anywhere in the rain haha. If you have any good summer recommendations for places to go I'd love to hear them. It's my first summer here (visited lots in fall, winter and spring but always avoided summer. Then I moved to Japan last November) and I'm not sure what to do!
I loved your informative video. I'm taking note here so I can travel there by myself. By the way, Any recommendation for a personal tour guide in Japan that is affordable? Thanks in advance. I hate to join a tour group.
I’ve actually don’t know much about personal tours in the Hakone area, but you should have no problem here as there are many tourist information centers in the area including at the station.
In watching so many of your videos I noticed there seems to be stairs everywhere in your country. What do the elderly do that can no longer climb steps? Avoid those areas? Or are there accessible areas for them that we don’t see? Just wondering as your country is stunningly beautiful and I hope totally accessible.
In some of the most popular tourist spots, there are escalators but there are often stairs or steps that can’t be avoided. It surprised me just how late Japan was to seriously start putting in disabled access given that it was known that it’s population was going to age rapidly.
Lovely! You said the train passes are good for all transportation for two days. Does that mean you can go to Hakone & home on another day, since this trip was a day trip? Wado…thank you in Cherokee.☺️
you made me thirsty for Japanese plum wine its hard to find here where i live in the states I developed a taste for it after my great grandad told me how he loved it after finding a Japanese LT with 3 canteens on Guadalcanal they figured out 2 of them were booze he and his buddies drank it grandad loved it but had never really found it so i went on a quest to get a bottle for use and i have had a taste for it since
How long was the trip and describing the flavors, texture, aroma, etc., of what you like about the food, would give us viewers a deeper understanding of the goodness. Is the noodle sweet or salty--you have yam (sweet) then what looks like soy sauce (salty)--this is what's missing in your vds--we do not know what you are tasting--your "hmms, so good" is to your taste of which I do not know.
Funny how this seems so ridiulous to you to go there for a daytrip only ^^V I went twice for a daytrip even though the first time I got stuck as no bus was running anymore so I decided to "walk" to Fuji-san ... I walked like 5 hours then had some business man fetch me up bringing me to the closest town near the Fuji then I walked like another 8 hours to reach the 5th station ... all trouhout the night with only a small head lamp and my phones flashlight (almost fall down one of those "drainage?" holes somewhere between the foot of Fuji and the 5th station where noone ever walks as everyone drives up to the station, super dangerous.
Doesn't "a friend" have a name? It's so strange that she isn't mentioned until the very end. She's there is most scenes, together at the café and everywhere, but is never acknowledged. It seems so disrespectful.
I could ever go to Japan in my dreams..thank you for making my dream come true with your beautiful videos
Oh I did that day trip too back in the days when living with my parents still and my mom had a strict "you're all gonna sleep in your own beds at home here every night" rule. Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip to Hakone, and all of your yummy snacks!! Oishiiso!! Thanks again!!
Thank you for taking us on this beautiful journey with you Shinichi. The more I watch your videos, the more I learn how amazing and truly magical Japan is, so thank you!
Thanks
Thanks so much
Okay i’m going to 100% copy your trip! This looks really fun and hakone is such a beautiful place! Thank you for this clip!
Honestly, while maybe not the exact video you had hoped to make this is incredbly informative and useful for trip planning. You gave an excelent glimpse at how to get around Hakone and snippets of the sights with out showing to much so we have to go there ourselves to see things proper.
I love this video. Very nice place. Like a remote heaven on earth
Have a flash back.. Four years passed away that I have been in Japan..miss it soo mush. The boat in Hakone was realy cool..
Thank you for taking us with you on this journey. I really enjoyed seeing the different modes of transportation. The video quality was superb, you really captured the beautiful mountainous scenery.
This looks like fun.
Thank you for this! Definitely got some own ideas for my own Visit!
Very informative video! Thank you for sharing it. :)
Aloha Shinichi 🌺 I just love watching your vlogs. The drinks and foods are worth watching alone, however, the beautiful sight seeing amazes me every time I see you travel and take us along. Mahalo for letting see beautiful Japan scenery with you. Aloha 🌺
What a beautiful place, especially that trail at the end.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful day trip. I wish I'd taken more advantage of the amazing scenery when living close by in Shizuoka prefecture.
Such a beautiful tour
What an amazing trip , you couldn't have picked a perfect day to explore this beautiful part of paradise. Thanks so much it tourists need to see 👀 how much Japan has to offer gorgeous scenery , food and boats volcano and shrines all in a day .💛
Thank you for sharing your time there! My family and I lived in Atsugi and would go up to Hakone on the weekends. I miss it so much.

My favorite noddle from Japan…cold soba…
Thank you for a lovely video. A very intense day! It was beautiful!!!
I have spent one night in Hakone. It was wonderful.
Wow, that is a jam-packed itinerary for a day trip. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely visit Hakone next time.
Hola Shiniki-san. this is perfect as I’m planning a day trip to Hakone during my short stay in Tokyonext year!
What a pretty place. It looks like a great place to visit.
It looks so peaceful and serene there!
What a wonderful day!! So much to do. I think I would have enjoyed it all but I love being on the water more than anything so that would have been my favorite part. I had my wedding on a riverboat many years ago.
Is it possible to do the tour in reverse? Starting at the shrine? Or is it all one way? Thank you! Lovely video!
Shinichi-san, thank you for this video. We miss Hakone so much. That was a such good (virtual) nostalgia trip.
I love visiting the Hakone area - a bit embarrassed tomboy I have never wandered through town. I was one of those who queued for 40 mins in front of the tori gate just to take a photo in 2019. Missing this place and Japan so much!
Beautiful video 👌
Beautiful video, thanks so much!
I like this sort of video - it's very informative. I hope I can visit soon.
Like seeing the rural countryside. Nice to get away even if it's only for the day. Who was your travelling companion in the vide
Sure was nice. Thanks. ALL trees in woods can look as good as those . . . just keep up tidying the broken and discarded branches and leaves/needles.
A good video. It was nice to be reminded of some things I have seen in Hakone and also introduced to some others that I haven’t. Last time we went we were passing through. Wonderful day adventure! Loved all the sights and different transportation. ❤
A must see is going to Nikko to visit Edo Wonderland , a must see. It was the highlight of my trip!!!
Hakone is one of my favorites! The Hilton Odawara was a great property to stay at, their coastline views are beautiful

are the restaurants / public baths open on golden week in Hakone?
Thanks for the video! I am looking to do a day trip to Hakone. Is it worth getting the Hakone pass even if you have the JR Pass?

Which is higher, the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji or the top of the Cable Car at Ohakudani?

I’ve always wanted to try soba noodles I’m not sure if them have them where I live.
I don't normally like the buckwheat soba, but I love tororo. You made that dish look so good. 🤤 I'm SO jealous.
very interesting
Would love to see you guys visit Hakone Open Air museum and Le Prtit Prince museum for one of your videosThanks for another woberful episode

I have wondered the same.
I have visited Japan a few times and most elderly people manage to get everywhere ok so maybe many stay quite active.
In some of the most popular tourist spots, there are escalators but there are often stairs or steps that can’t be avoided. It surprised me just how late Japan was to seriously start putting in disabled access given that it was known that it’s population was going to age rapidly.

I just noticed some new jewelry, was this from your trip to Hawaii 😉😉
If so, sooo very happy for you 💖💖
Do u have a video of how u ended up in Japan? I know now u have family there but…. And how u 2 met & adopted Mr. Justin. ✌️. Michele Clovis CA 🦋
Looks a lot to me like Kamakura a bit, not sure why.
Hakone looks so beautiful. Such a shame the climate is changing.
just leaving a comment to up the post :)
I ate the eggs 5 min ago... It taste just like chicken
Sad to see so many shops closed
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Now, my 1st thought is “ Who’s watching Mr. Jusrn “.??
I heard it’s considered not polite walking and eating in Japan ?
How long was the trip and describing the flavors, texture, aroma, etc., of what you like about the food, would give us viewers a deeper understanding of the goodness. a ship can go out on the ocean by itself a boat doesn't so the "pirate ship" is a boat
Who is that woman in the white shirt?
Thank you, beautiful, how come there is a lady in your video every where
Doesn't "a friend" have a name? It's so strange that she isn't mentioned until the very end. She's there is most scenes, together at the café and everywhere, but is never acknowledged. It seems so disrespectful.
Most probably Shinichi wants to keep the privacy of his friend. maybe it was her wish
Wish that I could give you 100 likes❤️❤️
