@@imericwilliams i just have a few days left haha. You should make a couple more Mason vlogs, maybe a tour of the campus if you have time? All of the videos are kind of cringey or very brief.
v ch I feel that, yeah I wanted to be a bit more structured but just decided to do the video that day. But yeah I’ll try to make more mason vids next semester
Not gonna lie I’m scared about going to college, especially since I’m going to community college in the fall and transferring to gmu. Any tips or advice I can take when making that transition and how to take in this whole experience
Never Mind I’ve met a lot of people that have transferred from community college, and I would say the biggest things 1) are making sure your credits align with mason’s curriculum for your degree. 2) and try to meet with people on campus/in your classes to become more comfortable with the feel of being a mason student (and this could lead to learning about more resources and networking opportunities).
Can’t wait to move in to gmu and live there :))! also about the housing process, is the room selection opened to students on different days? Not the same day? Very worried about that >:(
janice davila well if you’re an incoming freshman you should get first pick housing in the freshmen dorms, but yes the room selection window may differ if you’re coming in with transfer credits from high school or another college, but besides that welcome to mason!
My god I loved the video, congratulations! It's my dream to study there, but I'm Brazilian and I don't have a lot of money or family support for that, they say I'm going to “waste time”. At least I can see what it's like watching your videos💖
I would say to look at scholarships/grants online through study abroad, office of financial aid, different offices, etc and scholarships that aren’t affiliated with the university. Also there are researching opportunities within your major that your able to gain money from, or an on-campus job like I did to save for some costs being a student at mason.
Hello! I'm thinking about go to GMU, in Washington D.C. How good is the school in international politics or international relations and foreign trade in master's degrees degree. What is employment like in D.C in both the public and private sectors? How expensive is living is D.C? How is the campus or the professors? What would I do would you recommend me in my college years at this institution? How can i win college experience or internships to find career-related jobs? I am from abroad and I am very interested in this university, how do I know receive foreigners or is the treatment for them?
Imtiaz Karim haha thanks, yeah I’d love to upgrade because I’ve tried other lenses. But hey I gotta work with what I got, especially working with a cropped sensored camera.
Awesome!!! I am transferring in as a Junior this August!! I’m waiting to hear from housing since I want to live on campus soooo badly. What year are you?
I like mason based on the amount of resources that they provide for their students in and out of classes, whether it be tutoring or transportation. Since mason is not too far rom Washington DC, it's considered a pretty big commuter school so you meet a lot of people from DC, Maryland, and Virginia. However, I am biased for living on campus being one of the best experiences, because you are introduced to more people, events, and strategies to grow as an individual at mason. All in all, I could not imagine myself at any other school in the Virginia commonwealth or the country for that matter. :)
@@imericwilliams i appreciate ur input im a junior in highschool and i visited Mason and fell in love with it! i have one more question how are the people and is it a diverse school?
Sabine Thimothee I would say it depends on the people that live on-campus or off-campus might have two different feels depending on the friends or classmates you meet over time. The school is diverse in the way that you would like to perceive it as. There are so many people from around the world and different backgrounds (that I left out from my video as I passed the flags in the john center), in which is one of the most diverse schools in Virginia. But as I mentioned before it’s how you interpret that diversity or allow yourself to connect to people that represent your culture and that don’t simultaneously.
I would recommend to connect with the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Multicultural Education (ODIME) to learn a bit more about ways you can advocate or connect with various types of people or attending workshops/discussions about building community. The Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) I believe also have programs where you can connect with different people from around the world. ODIME: odime.gmu.edu - side note, I used to work here and was in this program called STEP which is a great program, but I’ll let you explore more yourself, it may be a great fit for you (odime.gmu.edu/student-transition-empowerment-program/) OIPS: oips.gmu.edu
Well I took IB courses (college-level), so I believe I had a 3.5 gpa and my sat score I think was 1100 something, pretty low lol. However, make sure to check the requirements in the school that you are applying to for the major that you desire.
imericwilliams Gotcha thank you, my SAT is 1300 but my gpa around the 3.2 range. I have high grades in my AP classes but low in things like math & spanish but I plan on going Poli science. Just trying to see how my chances are at gmu
Jake Patton yeah I believe you’ll be fine, make sure you do well on your AP exams so that you can get credit in those courses when coming to college lol
Heyo✋if you're interested, I got into Mason with a 4.2 with a 1230 sat. I also work closely with incoming freshman and can say the official average is a 3.6 with a 1200something sat
Incoming freshmen, this is some refreshing ass content! Can't wait to get out of high school lmao.
I appreciate it, but nooo enjoy it tho but college will be fun and real!

Maybe one day! If you can apply for scholarships and grants, then maybe your family will believe in your dream, but I understand!
watching this during quarantine just to feel something again gosh I miss the times before the Rona
Haha right, life was fun before it showed up smh
Any advice on how to deal with the financial cost at gmu. It’s one of the things I’m scared about along with career choice
