Im a para paddler (T-8 incomplete spinal injury) so limited core function, I compensate by pulling more with lats, lower back and arms. I have a very long stroke and am finding the most power from mid - end of the stroke as I don't have a strong enough core to really pull on the catch . I paddle marathon and half marathon V1, Currently using Jantex tear shaped paddle or palafamala for V6 events.
Looking at paddle shape and blade shape and angles what would you say may work best for this kind of stroke please?

@ParaPaddler hello! Thanks for reaching out.
Something with an aggressive blade angle at the front in a smaller blade size. In the viper the most is 10 degrees but something higher at 12-15 could help you. Essentially the angle there will extend your reach to make up for the limited motion and the angle facilitates a longer stroke behind you.
For sprint less angle would become more ideal but longer distance that may be something to look into.
Paddle sizes are designed with leg power in mind so something smaller could pay dividends in long distance racing. 7-8 inches in width potentially. I couldn't wield my 8.6 efficiently without my whole body at least i would drop a size for myself personally

@@Hlysander I don't find them efficient in racing and have no use for them in training scenarios. Too many extreme ideas take away from the performance output.
