    I remember as a boy in the sixties being taken to Portofino. My first sight of a Riva has stuck with me ever since. This boat brings back that class and elegance in spades. If I lived in the South of France and could afford one, yes please. As I live in the West of Scotland and can't, I will just have to dream. I could go and put a coat of anti foul on my small Contessa to cheer me up.

    The boat is the best of the best open cockpit sport about dedicated fair weather boat. Thoughtful and very fair review.

    With all the reviews from MBY and Aquaholic it's not often I agree with everything that is said in the commentary and description. On this occasion though I do. Despite it being an absolute stunning looking boat, for a family or proper cruiser you can get much more for that sort of cash. But as they say, you get what you pay for and that boat just overflows with style and presence. If I had that sort of cash around and was looking for a boat to purchase I would look elsewhere for a proper family week away type of boat. Still gorgeous though.

    What a beautiful boat! Consistency all the way. Understand that the Swedish king bought one.

    Great review and love the boat, but you are right. Unless you have 100mil..and you are a bachelor, you are likely going to opt for a great Italian 45 foot cruiser, like an Azimut, or something of that nature for this $$$. I don't know where it stacks up against the current Rivas and their prices, but it sure is a very fine copy of the 60's Aquaramas! Agreed, you can get quite a beautiful boat for 1.5Mil these days with a lot more use for the family. But yes, if I had a spot for 2 boats and could afford both, this would be on my short list for my personal play toy. Thanks.

    So weird looking at European boats with the helm station on the port side, and the companion way being on the starboard side. Which is the opposite of here in the United States, with helm on starboard, and typically the companion way on the port. But, then you realize that it's this same opposite for cars! I wonder why if European people drive from the right side on a car, why not stick to it on a boat as well? This is a beautiful boat! It does harken back to the 50's and 60's.

    • @monopostoyachtsofficial6081
      @monopostoyachtsofficial6081 2 роки тому +2

      well all European cars have their steering wheel on the left side, except in the UK, and drive on the right side of the road. So when overtaking in both a car and a boat you are able to see if the road i.e. waterway is free from opposing traffic. Hence a helm position on starboard side makes it a little more challenging, especially when there is a lot of traffic, but is probably related to cosmetic reasons or that most people are right handed and therefore able to control the throttle a little easier.

      I have a swedish boat and my helm station is on the starboard side. So I don't think port side helm is a European thing.
