Will Megan Like the Roush Slingshot?! // 2024 Polaris Slingshot Roush Edition Road Trip REVIEW

- The 2024 Polaris Slingshot Roush Edition takes the familiar Polaris Slingshot formula and turns it up to 11. Well, at least in terms of options and style. What the new Polaris Slingshot Roush Edition lacks in noticeable performance gains, it gives the customer in baked in features that a lot of potential Slingshot buyers might be interested in. The roof and sound system alone are worthy of consideration, and the Roush edition DOES have Brembo brakes with performance pads... even if they don't feel all that different. And even though the Roush Edition Polaris Slingshot is expensive, it sort of represents peak Slingshot: good looks, manual transmission, solid sound system, and just enough coverage to be more livable without spoiling the Polaris Slingshot experience. Maybe that's the secret: for a little more than $10k over a well equipped base model Slingshot, you get a lot of what you'd want and nothing you don't, BUT.... having driven a LOT of different Polaris Slingshot trims over the years, I still think the base Polaris Slingshot with the 5 speed manual transmission is great fun for what you're paying. You get all of the outrageous Slingshot style with a sweet shifting manual transmission for thousands less than the more ostentatiously and lavishly optioned Polaris Slingshots. Keep in mind, the Polaris Slingshot is a compromise vehicle: it's not as fast or as good in the corners as a sports car, but it's more approachable than a motorcycle. For some people, that's exactly what they're looking for, and if that's the case, they might not be turned off by the Polaris Slingshot Roush Edition price tag of $38k. But for my money, give me a stripped down base model with a stick. I'll just put on a little extra sunscreen.

I think we need to get Megan out on the race track just for the reaction!
This needs to happen. 😂
@@jax1079 Megan is a riot!
My wife is much like Megan regarding motorcycles. Which, after 40-something years of me as a biker, is why I moved to a Slingshot. It's something we now enjoy together. She loves it. We don't have to wear helmets in our state, which is a big plus for her. She was tired of putting all of the gear on, the heat of baking in the sun etc, etc, etc. I bought the R edition, which is the mostly the same as the Roush without the stickers. You did miss an opportunity to show her the substantial storage behind the seats (for what it is). I do wish the instrument cluster was a bit more refined. Maybe they did that due to the ability to get wet. I've seen a lot of unfair reviews from car guys who don't ride motorcycles and they generally throw the "just get a Miata" statement in there. They miss the point. Yours was a very fair assessment.
Thanks so much! And you're absolutely right: the Polaris Slingshot is its own experience, which is what people love about it. No one should knock it until they try it. They might find that it's what they were looking for all along.
From the intro….someone needs a snickers…#hangry
To be fair, I kind of caused the problem... haha!
What about stoplight visibility being tall and having the top on?
Excellent question. I didn't have too much issue with it. As long as you're not crowding the line, you'll probably be fine
I'm tall (6'1") and it's not bad at all. The opening has a good slope.
Fun well done! $38k for that😮
Yeah, but if you think of it like a more usable and comfy loaded Harley cruiser... It's not that outlandish since those can be very expensive as well and are driven just as slowly 😂
