not a licensing issue at all. More of a supply issue as many raw materials are hard to get in quantities to both sell and use. So many ppl have asked about buying materials that I have buckled down trying to secure a couple things just for materials sales. bamboo shafts and now Georgetown flint.
I've ordered 50lbs altogether so far and thanks to ur videos I've picked up on it quite fast. I've ordered some different types from T-rock and quartzite website, if u ever git anything different like jasper or some pretty colored stones let me know and I'll buy it
Your techniques are excellent and that flint is exceptional . I'm wondering if you ever heat treat before knapping and pressure flaking . Thanks for your video and ATB .
thanks very much. This rock doesnt really need heat treated, but it can benefit from a light cook. I do put a light cook on this to butter it up just a little more.
Come hunting southern canada with those points,it's bow only around here so not many hunters and it's 25 degrees Celsius here until late October.we have onondaga chert here
Hey brother what temp do you bring Georgetown to to heat treat? I have some gtown spalled out (thin flakes) and a nice kiln and wanted to experiment with heat treating it. So far I’ve only worked it raw and it’s done well but could be better.
@@huntprimitive9918 do you know how to get in contact with a quarry? I just got my first set of tools in Flint last week but I'm looking for a good place to buy flint, maybe somewhere if I buy a certain amount they might give a price cut. I don't know if they do that I wouldn't want to insult anyone either. Maybe you can help a little.
@@huntprimitive9918 the Flint that you offer is really great looking stuff but unfortunately at 6.6 dollars a pound it's a little too out of my price range. I'm not working right now since I have a broken ankle, I took Flint knapping up to keep me busy and help mentally. I know it's not the cheapest hobby but if you have any suggestions on where to find some decent quality Flint for a reasonable price I'd really appreciate it!
anything that can be saved and chipped into a small arrowhead, I save and sell for folks to practice on or to get lots of little points out of a small box of stone
I like your little lizard buddy on the palm tree around the 0:35- 0:40 mark. Good video. Thank you for teaching
Have you got dvd videos
Hey Ryan, didn’t you say that before, your license didn’t allow you to sell raw materials? What did you do?

HuntPrimitive Ah, my bad. Hopefully it all works out for you.
:40. Yeah that lizard crept up on that tree
Thought I was the only one who seen the lizard at 0:39
This is a great video. Great explanation of spalling. I’m still trying to get my points thin
I was wondering why I was breaking my copper boppers. Thanks for recommending using a Hammerstone instead.

Where do I find it
Thanks Ryan.
Where do you find this Georgetown flint? I'm going down there and I want to find some flint.
you have to buy it from the quarry. I don't think there is any on the surface to find publicly.. but I could be wrong

sounds like a great place to hunt if it's bow only!
@@huntprimitive9918 yea all the weed grow ops and winery's need pest control and some people get like 20 deer tags to control populations
Ooh, I'm happy that I found this on my journey ☮💜
This helps me I'm doing it wrong thanks for this ruining my Georgetown flint

Top notch as usual!

Where can I find good Georgetown flint?
How do you spall quartz?
What temp do you treat your gorge town too?
Do you trade or only sell?
Is that flint heat treated ?
You make it look so easy
So I’m staying at a hotel in San Angelo and I look at the rocks on the outside and guess what I find. Chert. Giant chunks of chert too
Where do I find big chunks of flint like that? I been looking to buy one but can't seem to find one for sale.
gotta get it straight from a quarry unless you find it in the wild

Cool.
Rad dude.. ty .
what part of florida is this?
Seems to be the northern part, up by Georgia judging by his accent.
Spall? Do you mean KNAP?
spalling is a part of flintknapping, when you "spall" large flakes off of a larger core
What do you do with small piece ? The ones you don't use ?do you sell them ?

How is that flint for gun flints?
so far so good. I was worried it would break too easy but I made myself a couple and it throws a good spark and hasn't really suffered much damage.
