Malford is one of the greatest singers ever! If you ever run into him, he'a also one of the nicest persons you will ever meet! I did and he was so nice to me. I even named a pet "Malfie" in his memory. Told him so too.
If you ask me, Malford is one of this worlds best bluessingers (so much soul) and the band here is with no doubt the best bluesmusicians you'll find - Bramhall & Double Trouble I love you! Upload some more of that stuff, please.
Just saw him play at the Saxon Pub in Austin tonight. He was absolutely incredible. Feel so lucky to catch him in such a small venue. Unbelievably soulful voice!
I love Malford. What a gorgeous voice! I love Double Trouble, too. Malford never fails to deliver chicken skin and I've been listening to DT faithfully since SRV. Totally awesome, guys!!! Love ya. :D
Malford seems so laid-back here compared to Catalina where he was absolutely dynamic on the stage jamming around, all of the other musicians watching out for him it was like he was in some sort of a trance, it was so amazing. Bucket list for me Austin, malford
This man blows me away.what a great voice and stage presence.I was captivated when i heard him on the double trouble and friends album yrs ago.i would give anything to see him live.or jam with him.Johnny Turrington Boss Tweed Band 2009.
Malford your voice is like an angel...you and the band bring this song to life. I am so happy to know you in this lifetime. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo my friend till we meet again
Love Malford! Austin's secret weapon as Charlie affectionately refers to him! Loved Malford fronting Storyville with Tommy & Chris & the 2 Daves! (Holt & Grissom) & I think Malford still plays every Monday at Antones with the Blue Monday House Band. Very underrated soul stylist. Doyle is awesome here BTW! & yes, "Cry Sky" is the best song on DT's album & this ACL performance. The live version has Eric Johnson & KWS backing Malford and is just sublime.
@beckyrooonio try the following link I finally found for "Cry Sky" on reverbnation...f'ing youtube won"t let me paste the link. but if you go to reverbnation and then search the title of the song you should find it.
beckyroonio...when you get to reverbnation click the "music and artists" tab then do a search of the title "Cry Sky" it will come up under Tommy Shannon since he wrote the song. I hope this helps.
@camthebassist It's actually the 5 string bass we hear best, Tommy is playing simple bass licks, while the other bass acts like a lead bass guitar, with driving bass rythem and also doing alot of fills duing the chorus.. Doyle on the other hand is playing off of this bass guitar's lead rythem
Just saw him play at the Saxon Pub in Austin tonight. He was absolutely incredible. Feel so lucky to catch him in such a small venue. Unbelievably soulful voice!
Such an incredible song, sung by an amazing voice and with superb backing musicians, a really stellar performance! Malford is SO good!

This was on an album with Doyle Bramhall, Susan Tedeshi, and I think Charlie Sexton. Anybody know what it was called?
Double trouble, been a long time
does anyone have his version of The Soul Of A Man?
@ThePedub
It's called "Been a long time" :-)
Why are there two bass players?
