Thanks! Its something I created recently because I appreciate a size 13 weight is completely irrelevant to everyone else, so I visual aid like that should help people see where it fits in amongst other shoes 👍 Not yet, but it’ll be done soon
Hi Andy, I've got the ghost 13. Which has the DNA loft v1 midsole. Really enjoyed it at the start. But I personally went off it as daily trainer later on as I had purchased new shoes that felt more responsive such as the speed 2 and floatride Energy 3. Lacked feedback. Retired my floatride Energy 3 and started using the gost 13 for easy recovery runs.
Drop is just too high for me. Watched the video just to hear your thoughts. I just got the topo cyclone 2 in and I think you'd love it. Good ground feel but the pebax doesn't bottom out like some lower stack shoes when you really push into it. I think you might like it since you did well in the hyperion tempos before. I did one run in it and I'm in love with it already.
I like the 15 as a trainer , it was actually my first ever Brook's recommended by my coach as a daily, (I have loads of shoes .. not as much as you guys that review shoes but at least two full rotations.. and some expensive poor buys in carboard box's of shame) and I think it is good daily , it's ok at everything , The drop is a little high , but then my Altra's would be considered a little low (understatement ). It is to my mind a Daily to match what the Puma deviate elite 2 is as a racing shoe .. does the job , but you have to put in the work. I saw someone mentioned the Topo below (my favorite not plated show at the moment ) , totally different shoes .. the topo will give you a smile on your face at a steasy or steady 10 miles. (think original endorphin pro1 without a plate) , the Ghost 15 will take care of you on a 23 Z2 mile canal run , and be ready the next day to do it again with hardly a scratch
I tried the standard Ghost 15 about 6 months ago as was curious to see why it was so popular and it is also one of the very few shoes these days that actually comes in a narrow version - although it wasn't very narrow so the extra wide version must be huge! You seem to be more enthusiast than me. I did personally notice the 12mm drop a lot initially but did get a bit more used to it. I didn't review it for a while to try and be objective. I sort of found it was OK for easy plods and perhaps a decent treadmill shoe but really I can only describe it as boring. Under toes cushioning wasn't great and the foam generally nothing much to speak of. So much so that haven't worn now it for 6 months with about 75 miles on it.
Yeah it sounds similar usage to me in terms of “how I’d use it”… easy runs only and a treadmill shoe would be super 👍 otherwise, foams lacking the bounceback needed for faster paces. But otherwise, I generally found it a very comfy ride at easy paces yes 👍
(disclaimer.. I am a brooks ambassador)..Ooooh intrigued that they sent you the ghost.. personally I wouldn't say you are the demographic.. for me this is perfect for a casual/easy runner who really only wants one shoe to do it all and last ages. And that is where it excels.. even for easy trails.. and it really does last. I get 1000km for a ghost and it is a shoe that matures really well. It is crazy but I love the ghost even more after 600km! What surprises me though is how much I enjoy it. I wouldn't call it an every day trainer as much as a 'don't worry about it' trainer. If I go for a run and not sure which shoe to use.. i graduate to this. Agree about the drop not feeling like it haha.
Thanks mate! I think as a runner who does more zone 2 than 1… I would use it less than most… but as you say, it really excels at easy paces. Your comment about getting 1000k out of them is really useful to viewers for the durability aspect!
Like your excel spreadsheet Andy. A really helpful overview of your (large) collection of tested trainers. Have you one for super trainers?
