Not necessarily. Now the first thing you need to do when you attempt to take a photo with your camera and it says it cannot read your card is to turn your camera off and take the card out. Don't try to take any more photos with this and and this is crucial don't reform at the card. If you reformat the card the chances of you actually recovering any photos or videos. Pretty much gone without the help of a third-party service. And also you shouldn't scan this card with any software that isn't a recovery tool because in the process of scanning it again, you could lose your videos. You don't want that.

Now there are plenty of tools out there that can help you recover your videos safely from this card. I'm going to show you how to do that with one particular tool. The tool is called Disk Drill. It's made by CleverFiles and it is really reliable. It does a great job of recovering lost video files from your SD cards.
How to recover deleted videos from an SD card on Windows? 02:55
I have inserted my SD card into my SD card reader and then inserted the SD card reader into my Windows 10 laptop. Then I startup Disk Drill and Disk Drill will automatically see the card reader and list it as generic multi-card USB device. If I expand that our discard will appear select that and then click search for lost data. Disk Drill will then dive into the SD card and automatically start searching for files. It should fairly quickly start finding files, as you can see. It is found three documents and 24 videos. If we click review found items. It will display the found items right here. Now on the left pane, we can filter our results from all files pictures video audio documents archives and other since we want video we're going to click Video If we don't expand the results, we will eventually find gold. There we go disk drill has in fact discovered some lost files. Now, we could go through here and select these files, but we can't recover them yet because this drill is still scanning the disk. So we click stop scanning and then we can go in here and start selecting files for Recovery. Once we've done that. at click recover In the next window we have to tell disk drill where to save the video files by default. It will save them to the videos directory, which is a Fine Place to Start click. OK and Disk Drill will begin the recovery process. Now if you've selected a lot of files or the files are large, it could take a while for them to recover. I've only selected for files and they're all fairly small so it won't take very long and there you have it disc drill has successfully our video files.

Alright now, let's see how this is done on the Mac side of things. All right, so I have inserted my SD card into my card reader and then inserted the card reader into my MacBook Pro once I open Disk Drill. Disk Drill will see the card reader as generic multi-card if I expand that entry. I'll see my SD card listed right there as Untitled 1 now. I've already started a scan on this card. So I'm going to click continue. If this is the first time you've tried to scan a card. You'll see a cover button So there we are our scan. Is existing we're going to expand this. Until we see a video file right there. Now. This is a fairly large video file. We're going to try to recover it. Anyway, so what we're going to do is we're going to select that file and then we're going to click recover. Now I'm going to click recover and disk drill will start doing its thing now because this is a larger file this drill is going to take a bit of time to recover it. And there we go Disk Drill has successfully recovered our mp4 video file on the MacBook Pro.
But what do you do if that SD card is physically damaged? 06:55
Well chances are a piece of software like Disk Drill isn't going to help you then in that case. You're probably going to have to send that card off to a company who specializes in file recovery.
And finally, what about recovering video files from your phone? 07:31
Well in that instance, you have a couple of options first and foremost most often those files are saved to the cloud. So regardless of whether you're using an Android or an iOS device, you can check Google cloud or iCloud and make sure that those files aren't there before you give up. Now if you happen to have an Android device that includes an external or internal micro SD card.

Hello guys.
In the 14th of April 2016 was my brother's wedding day.
In that day i take a video for the weddings and didn't take another.
At that night, when i was uploading the video to google drive, i made a big mistake by deleting the video before it was completed.
I tried to recovery the video but all in vain.

This actually worked! Thanks for sharing. Granted, the free trial only allows up to 500 MB of recovery so you may have to pay the $89 for the full package but it's worth it

My car camera has worked for 8 hours but it only shows on the sd card 1 hour recording but the camera was still running for another 7 hours and for those 7 hours it's not showing it on the sd card any clue on how to find the rest of the recordings thanks
As a rule, a continuous loop recording dash cam records video by overwriting older video with new footage. If that's your case and your SD card can only fit 1 hour footage, there is no way to recover previous recordings, as they have been overwritten. In case your SD card can fit 8 hours, try scanning it with Disk Drill to see if you can recover missing footage.
